Daily Kos:

This is an open letter to the progressive blogosphere...

I've been posting at DailyKos for nearly 4 years now and started writing diaries in support of Hillary Clinton back in June of last year. Over the past few months I've noticed that things have become progressively more abusive toward my candidate and her supporters.

I've put up with the abuse and anger because I've always believed in what our on-line community has tried to accomplish in this world. No more. DailyKos is not the site it once was thanks to the abusive nature of certain members of our community.

I've decided to go on "strike" and will refrain from posting here as long as the administrators allow the more disruptive members of our community to trash Hillary Clinton and distort her record without any fear of consequence or retribution. I will not be posting at DailyKos effective immediately. I will not help drive up traffic or page-hits as long as my candidate - a good and fine DEMOCRAT - is attacked in such a horrid and sexist manner not only by other diarists, but by several of those posting to the front page.

Hillary Clinton has served her country well for many years. Her efforts toward universal health care were well appreciated, even though they were not met with success. She has done a great deal of good for children in this country. But her behavior and her campaign's behavior over the last few weeks have many of us questioning this whole "good and fine DEMOCRAT" concept. I think if you dig deep, you'll find that's what's behind a lot of the anti-Hillary sentiment over on Daily Kos.

Why should we care? Is this an especially important person or just one more self-important blogger? I hope more of her supporters start throwing in the towel.

Boo hoo.

I wish you'd take your "candidate" on strike with you.

Why do some Obama supporters exhibit so much hate through posts on 'progressive' websites?

It is a major turnoff for those of us who are interested in uniting the country in support for a progressive agenda.

I have listened to the candidates and have consumed some of their white papers. I do not believe that Social Security is in a crisis and I especially do not support raising payroll taxes to fund another potential Republican tax cut (like what was done in 1983). I am a strong believer in moving to a single-payer health plan (similar to Europe) and believe that Universal Health Care is an attainable first step. Consequently, I support Clinton. Does this make me an evil person? Does this give Obama supporters the right to attack me?

Huffingtonpost and talkingpointsmemo were once inspiring. Josh's efforts to counter Bush's 'reform' of Social Security brought me much hope. Now I find them just like all the rest of the mainstream media. IMHO, the only progressive website that seems to have remained neutral has been dailyhowler.

Hillary is disliked by so many Obama supporters because she has proven herself to be ruthless, self-interested, and dishonest. I also used to respect both Bill and Hillary a lot. I stood with them when they were under attack--like many of us. At the beginning of this campaign, I was ready to fully support Hillary until I saw her campaign tactics emerge. It's unlikely I could support her now. The Party needs to get past the duplicitous politic of people like Clinton and Lieberman.

But to your point, I didn't see anyone attacking you here.Do you have a persecution complex?

I don't think Obama supporters exhibit hate here (except for the few who hate every topic that comes up). I think they exhibit frustration, disbelief and outrage over the things the Clinton campaign keeps doing. Progressives expect this kind of nasty, underhanded stuff from Republicans, but when it keeps coming--relentlessly, dishonestly and pugnaciously--from one of our own, it's only a matter of time before people start getting defiant.

Sometimes I get the feeling that Hillary honestly thought going in that she could throw her weight around and nobody would touch her because she was a woman. I'm embarrassed every time she complains of sexism. I always thought the first woman who seriously ran for President would know what she was getting into and would hold her head high and campaign with dignity no matter what anybody said--and win becaused people sensed that dignity and honor. It's possible Hillary may win, but there won't be much dignity or honor left by that time.

Read through the "hot" threads here and at other sites and tell us with a straight face that Obama supporters are the only ones doing it.

No, it makes you an oblivious supporter of a deeply flawed candidate who does NOT IN THE LEAST support the progressive values that you do. Come on!!! Hillary Clinton plays progressive when it suits her, and turns around and plays Republican when the chips are down. If you can't see that she has campaigned like a karl rove republican in this race AGAINST A FELLOW DEMOCRAT, then there's probably nothing I or anyone else can say to you to make you see your candidate the way the majority of voters (who are not susceptible to fear and race-baiting tactics) see Hillary Clinton. She is the PAST, actually the WORST of the past, and if she bullies her way to the nomination, it will be the end of the Democratic party, plain and simple. And you are in denial if you believe otherwise!

So you think that only Hillary has been getting trashed in the last week or so? You obviousl haven't been paying due attention. The blottosphere has been crammed up both ways. So don't go boo-hooing your "me me me, I've been insulted" Bushie talk to validate your self serving martyrdom.
