Daily Kos:

This is an open letter to the progressive blogosphere...

I've been posting at DailyKos for nearly 4 years now and started writing diaries in support of Hillary Clinton back in June of last year. Over the past few months I've noticed that things have become progressively more abusive toward my candidate and her supporters.

I've put up with the abuse and anger because I've always believed in what our on-line community has tried to accomplish in this world. No more. DailyKos is not the site it once was thanks to the abusive nature of certain members of our community.

I've decided to go on "strike" and will refrain from posting here as long as the administrators allow the more disruptive members of our community to trash Hillary Clinton and distort her record without any fear of consequence or retribution. I will not be posting at DailyKos effective immediately. I will not help drive up traffic or page-hits as long as my candidate - a good and fine DEMOCRAT - is attacked in such a horrid and sexist manner not only by other diarists, but by several of those posting to the front page.

What's wrong with not reading and writing at a site that upsets you? Why the big melodramatic exit?

Look, I read a lot of game forums and once in a while somebody pulls the same thing: "OMG no fairrrrz I'm leavin'" and they do. Only they sometimes take something of value with them, viz., their game mods, enjoyed and used by everybody. Threatening to take away unpaid, unsolicited editorials by a nobody (and I consider myself a nobody here, too) ain't much of a threat. And calling it a "strike"--that's just laughable.

I have never understood personal sniping, the rudeness that persists in internet forums, and in particular this kind of "curse you, Red Baron!" thing. Why not do something else for a while? Go to a site you enjoy?

sour grapes ... she's losing, her candidacy is a chevrolet to Obama's Mercedes .. he uplifts, she divides ... they're losing the battle of delegates/pop vote and popular opinion.

Who cares if the Clinton supporters are throwing a temper tantrum at DailyKos? Good riddance, as they say.

This is another classic example of the infantile behavior of Clinton supporters. First they sniveled about and bemoaned the media until they succeeded in manipulating the media.

Now these detrimental supporters are trying to censor by strike the last true stronghold of free speech, the blogs. These supporters approach has been similar to what you would expect from the typical four year old "I don't like what your opinion so I am going to hold my breath until you appease me!"

Personally, I'm GLAD the Clinton supporters think they are "on strike", and I certainly wouldn't mind if the Clinton supporters here did the same thing.

Strike on my whine-and-complain-until-I-get-my-way friends, strike on.

Apparently, when Hillary's supporters can't win in a battle of public opinion, they ignore the fight entirely, run away to someplace safe and non-threatening, and declare victory.

Sort of like Iowa, South Carolina, Louisiana, Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, Utah, Nebraska, Washington, Maine, District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, Hawaii, Wisconsin, Vermont, Wyoming, Mississippi...

I visit KOS daily and haven't seen their loss has made a big difference. They are prone to tantrums, just as their Queen Hillary.

"I'm not playing until I get my way!"

"I'm taking all my toys and going home!"

a little refresher course in pre-school sounds in order.

Buck up, kids, this is the big league

I went by Daily Kos. Nobody misses them. In fact, people NOT on DailyKos care more about this than DailyKos.

George Bush has his 29 percenters and Hillary has hers. Neither is affected by facts and both pull their own wool over their own eyes. Those supporting Republicans are oblivious to the damage they have done. Those supporting Hillary are oblivious to her record and the policies she purports. Both groups are tantamount to mindless automatons, marching against the stream of reason whose only mission is to win regardless of the price to themselves and the Nation.

i don't doubt that there are some commentators who criticize hrc in a less than civilized fashion, some no doubt motivated by evils such as sexism; much as there are critics of obama who are motivated by evils such as racism. but it does seem to me that there is somewhat more of a rush by some hrc supporters to put any criticism down to sexism and 'irrational hatred'. i would be interested in hearing the striking writers say what they believe are valid critiques of their candidate. are the only valid avenues for criticism those which they feel their chosen one has the edge on? because that doesn't seem like meaningful debate to me. i don't generally see the same sentiment from obama supporters. they might resent and even be offended by the suggestions that, say, obama lacks experience, but there generally seems to be a recognition that it's nonetheless potentially a valid area of concern, albeit one which they feel they can address, but still valid. so, clinton supporters, tell me, what do YOU feel is your candidates weaknesses? what criticisms do you feel are legitimate? i'd truly be interested to hear your list.

I believe that one of the issues was that Obama supporters on KoS were ganging up on Clinton supporters, urging one another to dig up real-life info on these Hillary supporter members. In essence, the mob-like mentality was becoming a rather hostile and threatening environment.

If only you could convince your candidate to follow your lead and withdraw, then we would all be singing her praises!

Illusions of granduer I would think. I don't visit the KOS except rarely, perhaps there is a lot of hate comments going on over there against Sen Hillary. I would think the article writers though would be able to frame the conversation to point out the inaccuracies of commentators if they exist and they choose to, but maybe now that her views aren't in agreement with the majority of progressives she feels it is time to stop the conversation. Maybe the Hillary campaign tactics of bending the rules and going back on their principles is just too hard to argue for. It isn't Democratically right or moral, and yet they are doing it. How can one argue in favor of that?

Is this how Clinton supporters concede? ok, I guess I can see how they would think it is all someone elses fault for not understanding their point of views.

Ciao...

Ya know...all this stuff about the elections is idiotic. The real story is how the ECONOMY IS TANKING and none of the CANDIDATES are even bothering to talk about it!

As of tomorrow Bear Stearns may declare bankruptcy and we can have some good old 1930s style bank runs...ain't THAT sweet??!!

Which bank is going to follow the Bear?
http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/banking_and_finance/article3556815.ece

Even while people do talk about this election they imagine that their favored standard-bearer is somehow going to fix the enormous mess we are in and save our collective asses which is NOT going to happen!! Before the election the promises--after the election the alibis.

Same old same old.

Got GOLD??

I think the references are to bloggers that dredge up old stories that have been proven to be full of bs but continue to make the rounds as if they are true. And, how often do you read disgusting comments about Obama's looks, age, or attributes of his spouse that may be annoying.

The point is that long lists of deceitful accusations along with personal criticism regarding Mrs. Clinton can be found almost everywhere, but if someone criticizes any aspect of Mr. Obama, they are barraged with hateful and spiteful comments. Very similar to the back and forth that went on at the beginning of the War in Iraq. Stupid liberals, etc comments from Bush backers many of whom to this day believe he has done nothing wrong. Us vs. them, being fanned by, my guess would be, Republicans continuing to use divisiveness as a tactic to prevent a change in power. Come on people, where is this hate coming from. Or is it just a transference of what was felt for the bushies onto two candidates that deserve better. Send that kind of commentary on to republican websites, and criticize that flip flopper that is their candidate who has already let us know he knows nothing about economics -- this at a time when Wall Street is waiting for a bailout and the rest of us can just go to hell.

Actually, I don't think that's accurate. Do you have any proof? Preferably as quantitative research.
