The Chinese military is shooting Tibetan demonstrators "like dogs," a Tibetan exile group said Monday, firing "indiscriminately" intro groups of people protesting Chinese rule.

The accusation was leveled by the Tibetan Center for Human Rights and Democracy, a group run by exiled Tibetans in Dharamsala, India, home to the Dalai Lama. Exile groups in India receive some of the few reports from inside Tibet and have provided some of the only reporting from there since last Monday, when the most significant Tibetan protests in 20 years began.

Beware of putting too much faith in unconfirmed reports by "Tibetan exiles", as their wild statements are probably as reliable as things "Iraqi exiles" said about pre-Occupation Iraq (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraqi_National_Congress). Here is a link to a recent article by someone who seems to have discovered the things I'm only now discovering about the Tibet myth and manipulation: http://la.indymedia.org/news/2008/03/215371.php

"shot down like dogs"??? This is a totally unsubstantiated story coming from an outside Tibetan independence group which has an obvous axe to grind. Unless and until there is more corroboration, this news story will have to be treated as rumor at best.

All the substantiated stories with photos or videos so far all show that the chinese troops have been largely absent , or not been doing much when they were present; and the tibetan rioters have gone on a rampage vandalising chinese businesses, police stations, and cars, and assaulting ethnic chinese and muslim people.

I have never understood how we, the United States government..... ever got into bed with the Chinese..... and gave them Most Favored Nation status..... I know why, it was for the money of course.... But it just screams, "HYPOCRITES" to the whole world....

I hope our next president is able to eventually break ties with the Chinese... but of course I am dreaming.....

HH Dalai Lama stated:
"The Olympic Games do not take place in Lhasa. The Olympic Games take place in Beijing," he said.
"It is illogical to blame millions of Chinese."

How quaint. The Chinese military shoots monks in the streets, and the only thing that comes to mind is how shitty America is and the never-ending "Bush's fault".

The behavior of the Chinese is truly horrible. However, I would like to know why can ABC news report so much of the crimes that the Chinese commit (and I'm very glad that ABC does this) while at the same time virtually ignoring what OUR government is doing in Iraq, Afghanistan, secret prisons, etc? For a glimpse into what America is doing to Iraq on a daily basis see the "Winter Soldier" conference -- presentations by common soldiers on their experiences. Reported on by Democracy Now!

"The Olympics should not be called off," Dalai Lama told a news conference in Dharamsala, the north Indian town from where he has run a government-in-exile since fleeing Tibet in 1959.

"The Chinese people... need to feel proud of it. China deserves to be a host of the Olympic Games."

HH Dalai Lama, said he backs China's right to host the Olympics after Beijing reportedly charged he was trying to sabotage the summer Games. Referring to questions about whether he backed calls by Tibet support groups for a Games boycott, the Dalai Lama said he had already stated "that it was too radical."

Of course ABC failed to cover the "Winter Soldier" event this weekend, had they bothered they could've reported how Iraq civilians are shot like dogs by some of our own. The mission is, has always been in spite of the average citizens best interest there and here.

Screw China and ALL THINGS Chinese till they exit Tibet.
Including the Olympics.
This is the same way we got rid of the American Indians.
It's called genocide.
Kinda hard for USA to have any moral authority in the matter when we are in Iraq and Afghanistan.
For no better reason, than why the Chinese are in Tibet.
Cause we are strong and they are weak, and that's all the rational we require to invade and plunder without a conscious, seems the Chinese are no different.

Re."seems the Chinese are no different."

You mean you're surprised that a country attempt to maintain law and order in the midst of looting and chaos?

I am glad Chinese did not follow the example of LAPD during King riots; who just stand around and let the city be looted and burned ad Korean shoppers killed. What should Chinese do when Tibetans where looting the Han Chinese shops.

I recall it took troops with machine guns to bring control to the streets of Los Angeles. And.... I don't remember anyone boycotting America for that. Should they have?

Still it is unfortunate if any lives were lost, Chinese and Tibetan.
