The only real difference is that a lot of us voters EXPECT republicans to go out as sleazy hypocrites... That's why there was no serious calling for Vitter's resignation. No offense to Vitter, but frankly nobody is all that shocked that Vitter ended up being a lying cheater. Spitzer, on the other hand, seemly stood for fairness, justice, honesty - all of those were lies too, but we, the public, were surprised.
