NY Post, NY Daily News Covers: From the front pages of the New York Post and the New York Daily News, Wednesday, March 19th:

UPDATE: The New York Sun reports that one of the women Paterson has admitted to having an affair with is Lila Kirton:

One of the women with whom Paterson admitted to having an affair -- between 1999 and 2001 -- was employed at the time in the office of the Attorney General under Mr. Spitzer.

She's now employed in the executive chamber and serves under Mr. Paterson, who said he would leave it up to her to decide whether to leave the administration. Two Spitzer administration officials identified the woman as the director of community affairs for the office of intergovernmental affairs, Lila Kirton.

--

During a nearly half-hour press conference at the state capitol in Albany, David Paterson said he has had affairs with "several" women, two of whom had at one point been on the state payroll.

The governor, who was accompanied by his wife Michelle, said it is a personal matter and did not violate any laws.

He did not name either of the women. One, he said was a "inherited" staff member. A spokeswoman, Christine Anderson, later said she formerly worked for Eliot Spitzer, and began working for Paterson when he assumed the governorship. (Paterson had said the affair ended years ago).

A second woman may have worked for a time on the state payroll, but Paterson said the women did not benefit in any way from the relationship.

I bet Lila and the other women appreciate being outed in the midst of this all.

Why should the woman have to resign?

Many workplaces including some governmental agencies have rules against relationships with subordinates. Paterson would have been better off getting his needs met elsewhere.

Isn't that what Spitzer did ??

Its funny how all of you defend Democrats who do this, but if it is a Republican you come unglued.

The problem with some republicans is HYPOCRISY. They advocate family values and have sex with mistresses, prostitutes and other men in public restroom. Do you get it now ? It's not about the sex, it's about HYPOCRISY!

Actually, it's nobody's business, whether it's a Democrat or Republican. He did the right thing by bringing it out now, before our high-school media started digging...

We in the U.S. need to get over our immature obsession with other people's sex lives.

Difference is that Democrats rarely preach morality before proving they are people too.

Politicians are born cheats. Think about it. They cheat, lie , steal and who knows that else just to get into their positions of power and keep it. They lie to us every single days by telling us how they are doing this or that to make America better. Well since when does cutting education, health care and the massive loss of jobs and dropping dollar help better America? Then again, I guess if you only consider Corporations and Capitalist America, then they are telling the truth. Because those guys are making a killing off America.

His wife was laughing her butt off after that news conference. Actually, he never had any affairs with other women. She just wore wigs and told him a fake name. He couldnt really see who he was with.

Who is making our leaders that we have voted--Democratic and mostly "Liberal"--do this? Why are they being forced to reveal secrets that mean NOTHING?
We are in trouble economicaly in this country, big trouble because of deregulation and Friedman economics, we are in a war that accomplished NOT ONE GOAL it was stated to go for, we are facing a dollar that is becoming toilet paper and all they can do is this?
Get the media out of politics and government! I don't care what Wolf Blitzer thinks.

Not the greatest thing, but its sure better than a corporate puppet who kills for profit and calls it democracy.

Grow up Sklfcats. He and his wife went through a rough patch and started seeing other people. Big deal. They're okay with it, they obviously love each other, so why is it your business who they have sex with? They made it public because our sensationalist press would have dug it out anyway.

HG.Wells said, "moral indignation is jealousy with a halo." I can see yours is shining brightly.

Most politicans are not cheating on their spouses, they are faithful in their marriages and they don't see hookers or someone on the side. I am much more concerned with the politicans being money and power whores, cheating on the public and unfaithful to their oaths of office.
I suspect that Gov. Paterson's affairs will be quickly off the news as we have had our quota of political sex scandals for the year and the public is quickly losing their interest in them. Besides, they were more of 'normal' beheavior, not involving hookers or children or gay sex so kinda boring.

I don't give a rats ass if he cheated on his wife or she cheated on him. He's the governor of the state of New York, not Billy Graham's assistant. Bush never cheated on Laura and he's a disastrous president. Marilyn Monroe was almost living in the White House and Kennedy was a fine President. Eisenhower was shacked up with Kay Summersby during most of WW II and we won. Thomas Jefferson fathered illegitimate children. He also wrote the Declaration of Independence. Patterson is not the Pope nor do I expect him to be.

It has nothing to do with his official duties. it is sad that he had to even have this press conference. let's move beyond it and start governing.
no reasonable person cares.
LBJ, Dwight Eisenhower, FDR, JFK all had affairs and all were good presidents in their own ways. Hey, FDR was even governor of NYS.
And didn't Rudy have affairs? No one cares about that.
