Poll: Majority Of Americans Say War Not Worth It

One the eve of the five-year anniversary of the start of the war with Iraq, Americans continue to think the results of the war have not been worth the loss of American lives and the other costs of attacking Iraq, according to a new CBS News poll.

Today 29 percent of Americans say the results of the war were worth it; 64 percent say they were not.

In August 2003, less than six months after the beginning of the war, Americans were divided as the whether or not the results of the war were worth it. Opinion reached a low point in March 2006 - when only one in four Americans said the war was worth the costs.

Had this war been given proper attention, meaning a draft to back up the all volunteer forces and a tax to pay for it, it never would have been approved by the people.

Only when this immoral and unjustified war of preemption was sold as a walk through the park and our men and women would be greeted as liberators did the folks like it. Six weeks ..... maybe six months, 50-60 billion tops.

People like easy, you know like the easy button.

Not so easy, people fall away.

This war was never going to be easy and Cheney knew it from 1994.

You've hit the nail on the head. And as long as it's "some dumb volunteer" instead of "our sons and daughters," well, they volunteered, right? They have no right to complain, only obey.

Put Cheney's and Bush's children in line for military service and watch things change.
