More than 7 out of 10 Americans think government spending on the war in Iraq is partly responsible for the economic troubles in the United States, according to results of a recent poll.

In the CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll conducted last weekend, 71 percent said they think U.S. spending in Iraq is a reason for the nation's poor economy. Twenty-eight percent said they didn't think so.

70%..?

it's official. 30% of americans are 100% mentally disabled. there is no doubt that is the same 30% who think bush is the greatest president ever. saddam hussein was behind 911, that three thousand years ago americans used tyrannosaurus rex to pull wagons and plows in an america where people were sporting dockers and gucci and that a pre-emptive military strike against iran will expedite armageddon, the rapture, second coming, israeli conversion to christianity and restoration of bethehem to the garden of eden.

sonofabitch!

Let me guess, the other 30% think that Bush is doing a fine job? WTF are these people taking?

Exacting what I am thinking -- 30% of us are complete airheads, and isn't it sad?

29.9%

The top 1/10 of 1% has made out like bandits - uh... make that 'robber barons'

But the rest are clueless - manipulated by propaganda, fixated on 'family values' (preached by much married cheating hypocrites), homophobia (given voice by closeted gays), high taxes (that they'll NEVER have to pay), evil 'terrorists' (who could care less about these people's illusory 'freedoms'), or illegal immigrants (who really don't even want the crappy job these people have).......

If 70% think it hurts the economy, then it proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that 30% of the population are some of the most dimwitted, ignorant things to call themselves human beings anywhere on the planet.

Think about it: This war will cost 3 trillion dollars. That's a cost of $10,000 for every man, woman and child in this country; illegal immigrant or not, homeless man or billionaire, working or unemployed, retired or a 2 day old newborn. 10 grand.

The government could have just HANDED everybody in this country 10 grand and it would have cost the same amount. THAT would have stimulated the economy. Not only that, it would have helped cure our homeless problem, it would have created new businesses, it would have enabled some people to go to college, everything.

10 grand a person. And what do we get back? 600 dollars that we have to basically pay interest on since the money is coming from China in the form of a loan--so long as we weren't disabled all of 2007, or taking a year off to write our novels, or going to school. Pathetic.

During World War II, The Korean War and the Vietnam War our taxes were raised.

We gladly paid.

Which goes to show that Americans know this ill-conceived war is the most immoral, unnecessary and criminal of all America's wars.

70% think Iraq spending hurts the economy, but McCain now beats both Obama and Clinton in polls?

Where's the disconnect?

If that poll is accurate it reflects the fatigue people are feeling because the Democrats cannot settle their primary.

This is hurting the party, but it will all be over in June. There is a long, long summer between June and November.

This is probably the same 30% who still give Bush high approval ratings. I've become increasingly convinced that we are a nation of assholes. Yes, McCain will most likely be our next President and Bush will probably attack Iran before he leaves office. And the looming banking/credit crises and government bank bailouts will make the S&L scandal pale in scope and significance. Bush still has a lot of time to wreak havoc before his term ends.

Memo to 'merican's.

We know you are hurting, we know you are getting killed at the gas pump, we know the price of groceries is skyrocketing, we know you haven't had a raise in 7 years.

We feel real bad, and gosh, we'd sure love to do something for you, we would if we could.

But we just can't.

God bless America

I heard the economy is in the toilet because the rich are still paying too much in taxes.

Just so Olivia, the rich need several more vacation homes or yachts so that they can pump thousands into the local economies of say San Diego or the Hamptons.....then by God you will see the economy soar baby.

And it will be the main cause of the coming depression and transformation of the US into a second world nation.

Dead US Troops = Halliburton Profits = Money in Dick Cheney's bloody pockets. Its that simple folks, you've been robbed.... and your nation is in the gutter.
