Wasserman Schultz Abandons Florida Dem Challengers

Democratic congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is the co-chair of Red to Blue, a Democratic congressional group working to expand the number of Democrats in the House of Representative. Democrats believe for the first time they have a good chance of unseating one or more of the three Republican Cuban-Americans representing South Florida -- Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Lincoln Diaz-Balart and Mario Diaz-Balart.

The Democrats running to unseat them will have to do so, however, without the support of Wasserman Schultz. Her ties of friendship with the three Cuban-Americans are such, she says, that she cannot support her fellow Democrats. She will have to sit this one out. So will Democratic congressman Kendrick Meek, who reportedly has close ties to the Diaz-Balart family.

Let's not be deceived by mere claims to party affliation. The 'Dem's " PARTY has been trashing OUR House for far too long. They've proven to be 'Crashers' of our Democracy.
Hail the Virtue of looking at Candidates for Who They ARE, not the cloak of Deception they wear.
As a Michgander- My Rose Color glasses and blind faith have been knocked to theFloor- I can See Clearly Now. It's time to put Both these "parties' Out of Business.
If the Dem Party does to the Country what it has Done to MY State, I strongly Recommend Obama and patriots such as Schultz denounce their Afflilation and Join a Real Patriotic Party- Independents no longer swayed by 'Costumes' of Red or Blue. Both have proven their Allegience to LOGOS!

I think it is time for the Democrats to run a candidate against this individual. It is clear that while she is willing to take on a high profile assignment, she is not willing to do the work that is required. As such, she needs to be replaced.

There is however a very loud crazed old Cuban party.

C'mon, Cuba is a shit-hole, but compared to when those old farts used to run it, it's friggin paradise.

Jeez another DINO.

How do fake democrats like her keep getting re-elected? Is there NO ONE who can hit the neighborhoods and let democrats know she is really a republican and votes with them the majority of the time?

Are the republicans who control her so powerful they can knock down anyone who opposes her?

And where is the national Democratic Party on this? WHY do they continue to support phony democrats and for that matter the King Phony himself, Tail Gunner Joe Lieberman who is as close to being a traitor to America as has ever existed?

Debbie needs to go and go now.

Wasserman-Schultz represents a majority of Democratic office holders. Those Bushocrats simply ignore the people and continue supporting the war while rhetorically opposing it (like Obama and Hillary both). So the war continues bi-partisan. They subscribe to the lying axiom that if we leave there will be a calamity of biblical proportions -- just made up BS -- as there would be the same level of violence anyway once we leave, and it would largely be resolved, as the nations in the region cannot afford the insecurity. Unfortunately for the liars who created the war -- and the stupid like McCain, Hillary and Obama who either voted for the war or voted to continue it and refuse to commit to withdrawing all troops and contractors immediately and safely -- Iran will be predominant, directly because of our intervention.

And because a majority of Democrat office holders ignore the wishes of the Democratic electorate and give bi-partisan support to Bush's Iraq criminality, despite words to the contrary (impeachment and removal of Cheney/Bush is off the table despite overwhelming high crimes and misdemeanors as a result of that majority of Democratic office holders) and because of vermin like Wasserman-Schultz, Nader is going to get a much larger vote than anyone anticipates. But even without him, the Dems would lose as McClan will be able to portray Hillary's or Obama's Iraq strategy (pull out some troops but leave some in Iraq) as one that will lead to increased US casualties, arguing that US casualties have declined since the surge added more troops and if we pull out those troops US casualties will increase.

The American people want out and will not support remaining for "cut and run" reasons of for "calamity of bibllical proportions" reasons. But they will support remaining if the logical result of an alternate strategy is increased US casualties and continuing huge expenditures that are destroying our economy (which is what McClan will say convincingly that Hillary/Obama plan will do).

What about the Queen Phony herself, Hillary, the number one Republican mole in the Democratic Party, who, throughout the nineteen sixties, was a leader of the Young Republicans on her schools' campuses, and who in this election, is backed by Rush Limbaugh and the FOX News crew. She even endorses McCain over Obama in her public speeches...
Now there's a fake democrat.

I want to inform you who did not watch the expose on msnbc about Hillary Rodham, that she was raised a staunch republican and also was the president of the young republicans. I don't know to what advantage she jumped ship to become a democrat even if she ever did other than marrying one. But her and her followers actions speak to the arena that she and they are pulling an inside job in destroying the republicans last steadfast competitor (the democratic party).

So Billary-like. She is a very vocal supporter of Billary, and I would have been very surprised if she had supported these democrats. I expect she will be sitting out the election if Billary is not the nominee. I hope she sits out her own election, too.

This article is symtomatic of just a small part of what is wrong with the democratic party. And yes I am a born and bred democrat.

I agree with you but it seems to limit itself to democratic elected officials. The average democratic voter would take a different approach to this. Wasserman Schultz is playing pure politics-much like Hillary does. If she can't get her way with the Florida re-vote, she is not going to do anything to help the party. It's all about her and her own desires, regardless of how much it might hurt her fellow party members in Florida.

Florida Dems are pathetic , they cant elect Democratic Governor, state senate or house,
They move their primary to try to get more influence in the election and that backfires. They need to accept their punishment, and make sure they control their OWN STATE .
PLEASE do some major work in their own state.

This is ridiculous! I hope Florida Dems remember how she had to 'sit this one out' when the next primary comes and they have the chance to put any other Dem into her seat!! Why doesn't she just pull a Liebermann??

Wasserman Schultz is a pandering pseudo-Democrat who should be sent packing. She's motivated only by personal ambition. She represents an incredibly wealthy district in FL and has quite an easy job. She uses her time to undermine the Democratic party, be it with this re-vote nonsense, and the will of the voters by pandering to the Florida Cuban population, because her district contains many Latin Americans. She's just a joke. I'm disgusted every time I see her ugly mug on national television.

She appears to be part of the Hillary's, Republican wing of the Democrat party who will say and do anything to maintain their individual interests as opposed to promoting the greater good, including, and I mean this sincerely ... that they would even consider legislation that would limit a women's right to choose if necessary to serve their own political interest.

Many people on this blog (including me at times) often criticize Nancy Pelosi for not accomplishing enough with the slim majority that the dems have. Its worth remembering that speaker Pelosi has to deal with DINOs like Schultz. Hopefully, the people in her district will get together next time Ms. Schultz is up for re-election and put forward a real democrat to defeat her in the primary.

Note that the three Cuban American Republicans that Ms. Schultz is too friendly to oppose are ardent supporters of terrorists Orlando Bosch and Luis Posada Carriles. Among their crimes are the October 6, 1976 bombing of a Cuban civilian airliner in which all 73 people on board were killed, including many members of a Cuban fencing team. The Bush "war on terror" does not of course include extraditing these criminals for prosecution since their victims were Cubans and other South Americans.

Debbie has been a real disappoinment to her district, this is just more of the same coming to light. She has also voted against bringing Bush and Cheney up for impeachment. She ran as a liberal and now we see she has been bought out by her friends on the right.

Florida has too many DINOS (democrats in name only) and that is why we are in so much trouble
politically.

You forget that it is the Democratic Party that supports these DINO's? See, there is no difference between Dem's and Repub's. Just another fine example of the myth of the two-party system in America. DINO's and RINO's.

Now get in that breadline!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:58 PM on 03/19/2008

You hit the nail right on the head. The myth of a two party system lives on indeed. Unfortunately, we continue to feed on and base our "votes" (laugh here as well) on the infomercials which are broadcast on the subsidiaries of corporations CNN, FOX, NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS just to name a few. The information being relayed through these "networks" only will be in support of the maximization of that corporation's profits.

Just like these "networks" when will people realize that the majority of those in the White House only echo the sentiments of the Corporations they represent. WE, THE PEOPLE do not matter to them unless we can sway their profit margins one way or the other..

I always tell people think about the individual you are voting for. Now, close your eyes and imagine if someone close to you were ill, your mother perhaps. Would you entrust the person whom you are voting for to look after your loved one (in some way make sure they got fed, kept warm etc.) If the answer is yes then great! If the answer is no then WHY, OH WHY ,would you trust them with our entire country????

And HRC wants Florida seated...with friends like these, who needs two parties. So much for party loyalty, no wonder we have DEMS like HRC endorsing the likes of McCain, and now another DEM refusing to help unseat Republicans. I never thought I would say this, but Nader is looking awfully good these days!

The sad part about this is that I cannot imagine that Republicans in the same position would ever do the same. Be friends... go to happy hour together. What does that have to do with standing up for your idealogical principles and differences? They are not representing their constituents properly.

A Hillary supporter and Republican Lite.

This is nonsense we need true democrats in office not warmongering Republican Lite Democrats who are too timid to challenge their maniacal colleagues.

Get real, these are your opposition congressional colleagues not your relatives, these are the people who helped Bush destroy our economy by blindly supporting the war, while they may have a lot in common with Hillary this does not mean they should not be ousted from the congress and replaced with a liberal democrat.

well she sure is doing a good job for "red to blue," isn't she? sounds like she should be removed from that group.

"red to blue only when the reds aren't my friends"

the red congress people mentioned in this article consistently vote against any environmental issue that crosses their desks (don't know much about mario, but I am very familiar with the other 2). they have voted for continued corporate welfare for the pillaging of the environment. and she won't work to get better representation in there? what does that say about her values when she considers people like that to be her friends? man, the dems are so done.
