McCain Aide Suspended For Pushing Racially-Charged Obama-Wright Video

A McCain campaign aide actively pushed an incendiary, racially-charged video that uses the controversial words of Barack Obama's pastor to tar Obama as unpatriotic -- despite the fact that McCain himself has suggested that Obama shouldn't be held accountable for Wright's views.

The aide, Soren Dayton, who works in McCain's political department, has been suspended from the campaign, a McCain spokesperson, Jill Hazelbaker, confimed to me.

The move by McCain's aide could create controversy for the McCain camp, because the video itself is thoroughly reprehensible -- it interweaves footage of Obama explaining why he won't wear the American flag pin, Wright saying "God damn America," Malcolm X, and Obama's wife saying that his candidacy has made her proud of America for the "first time."

OK, i haven't read these stories yet, but i'm struck by the contrast between two headlines; one indicating McCain has dismissed someone for unfairly linking Obama to Wright, and the other claiming that Hillary herself is using that unfair link to leverage the Superdelegates in her favor.

I find that so striking.

I was waiting to learn what the source for these Wright videos was. Mccain has lots of right wing lunatics around him, including (but not limited to) the racist, ant-cahtolic, and anti semetic Hagie. The Wright story is less damaging when it appears more like a political attack from the right-wing. Mccain just opened himself up to a lot of negative press, and comparisons to the nuts he keeps in and around his campaign. Mccain is not above the politics of personal destruction, why else would u want advice from the likes of karl rove?? Why is the aide merely suspended and not fired? I find it highly unlikely that an aide would construct something like this without approval from higher-ups. Let's see if the media tries to find out who really approved it.
