You know what they say: big ears, big...circulation numbers? Playgirl has offered to make former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer "a very attractive offer" to pose for their magazine. On a posting today on the Playgirl blog, the mag invited Spitzer to show them "what you saved for such a select few," dangling the $1 million figure offered by Hustler to callgirl Ashley Alexandra Dupré, whom Spitzer first met as "Kristen" and who has since been revealed happily offering up the goods for free on various "Girls Gone Wild" videotapes.

Here's the post that went online earlier today on "playgirlmag.wordpress.com," which ETP has confirmed actually IS the blog of Playgirl Magazine:


Dear Eliot,

It's not fair. We've been watching you; and we've seen how you've been crucified by the mass media, conservatives, and Republicans. We've stood by as your call-girl was offered $1 million by Hustler to show the world what she's already been showing the world for a whole lot less.

We think you've had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad week. But we've been thinking.

Your political career is sadly over; and you owe a lot of money to a lot of people. Hell, you may land in jail before too long. So consider this letter a brief note of urgency.

How about making some loot back, by showing us what you saved for such a select few? How about strutting your sexuality, and defending your right to get down for the magazine and Playgirl.com? Couldn't you use a little rent money right about now? Seriously — get in touch with us. We're ready to make you a very attractive offer. Someone get Spitzer on the line: Playgirl needs him naked, now.

Wow — imagine what they'd pay Paterson! We confirmed the legitimacy of the offer with Playgirl editor-in-chief Nicole Caldwell — so, Spitzer, if you're reading this, you have options!

Also, an old-media/new-media note here: Caldwell said she understood our skepticism about the wordpress URL, noting that the magazine is separate from the website and blog, which are completely separate. She said that plans are afoot to merge the two, eventually.

Let me put it this way, I have seen more nude men in my 47 years( My dad is a sculptor and taught drawing and sculpture), and there are people who can get by with it and those who can't. I just want to point out that despite quite a few news sources that mistakenly reported Spitzer's codename for himself as "client number nine", it actually was "client nine", no "number" in the name.

Now, maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part, but I think it's an important distinction...

Spitzer didn't initiate anything here. Nothing. It's all fantasy and publicity for Playgirl at the expense of a dog that's down.
And look at how this takes off here ..some people respond as if he'd accepted and was running with the offer.
Some of you have to learn to distinguish between reality and fantasy. If you had that capacity,
you wouldn't have fallen for the fantasies of *sswipes Bush and neocons ... and your economy wouldn't be

If people really wanted to know what was happening they would have asked why the FBI was following around the only politician who would have really DONE something about the crooks who are stealing billions and ruining the economy instead of making stupid jokes about prostitutes or "diagnosing" him but instead of doing that everyone demanded he resign and yet these same people are angry and "shocked" that the Fed is making taxpayers assume responsibility for the bad loans at BS so JP Morgan can make more money.

But most Americans didn't have a problem with invading Iraq until they realized it might actually cost OUR COUNTRY something and be bad for the economy so I'm not surprised that all they focused on was the s_x instead of thinking about who went after him.

I'm quite sure that he had many women who would have had s_x with him for free - did you forget that he was the governor?

He obviously didn't want to have some woman become emotionally attached to him and he didn't want a conflict of interest - you know, the way the new governor had affairs with women on his payroll? That is a conflict of interest - he did the smart thing by using a prostitute. And many women would be willing to have s_x with a brilliant man with an interesting career so the people here who are insulting him really don't know what they're talking about.

My comments were not directed at Spitzer - they were an editorial on Playgirl magazine. And you seem to have insights into both the governor's motives and sexual history that have never been published. You project too much. For all you know, he had all the charm of a spitting cobra, the social skills of Rain Man and the personal sex appeal of a bucket of slugs.

The only things we do know for certain is that he's married, he's fathered three daughters and he pays for sex with overpriced prostitutes.

Which brings me back to my question. What is the average Playgirl subscriber looking for? I'm not sure I comprehend the demographic.

If Elliot Spitzer ran for national office, I'd vote for him. He screwed up on a personal level. Yeah I know all the yada yada illegal prostitutes bull and the women are betrayed whine. But he was an effective agent protecting the public from corporate lowlifes, and we need that. I don't expect a Saint in public office (Even Saint Barak).
