Mayhem At Fox News: Anchor Walks Off Set, Wallace Rails Network For "Obama-Bashing"

Fox News' very own anchors are speaking out — and walking off — over what they perceive to be "Obama-bashing" on their network.

This morning on "Fox and Friends," Brian Kilmeade walked off the set after a dispute with his co-hosts Gretchen Carlson (she who celebrates deadly floods) and Steve Doocy over Obama's comment that his grandmother is a "typical white person." Kilmeade argued that the remark needed to be taken in context and eventually got so fed up with his co-hosts that he walked off set.

Later, "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace came on the show and railed against "Fox and Friends" for what he called "Obama-bashing."

Watch both clips below (refresh your page if they don't load properly):

Brian Kilmeade walks off set over Obama dispute:

Chris Wallace rails against "Fox and Friends" for Obama-bashing

Update: Later that morning, Chris Wallace called into Brian Kilmeade's radio show to talk about the incident (apparently Steve Doocy was genuinely mad). Wallace also indicated that Fox execs might not have agreed with his position. You think? Find the audio here.

Haven't seen the clip but I always wondered what the elder Mike thinks of Chris's job.
Perhaps he thought 'yep, despite who he works for, he still has cojones'.

One conservative says "You think it takes a village."

Another sends e-mails saying how all sorts of indiscretions are tolerated because of liberals...

Maybe it does take a village, albeit to a certain extent? Why else are our troops fighting? To protect our village; America?

It takes a village was said by Hillary in reference to ...raising a child.

FOX needs to chill- but Wallace makes us proud-- and for sure his dad Mike's wizened journalistic qualities were on display-- he has Mike's grace and fast thinking on your feet quality, as well.

This is a non story.

It's not like he walked off the set because Obama is pro death penalty or pro nuke power or to protest Obama's ridiculous attacks on President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela.

Who cares? Report the news.

Since the oxymorons on Fox News have so much time on their hands, it stands to reason that they have two hours to kill for the purpose of race baiting. Myurprise is that even two of their ancors got sick of it.

Neaguy, do you think that someone who was anti-nuke, or anti-death penalty or especially not sufficiently anti-Chavez would have any chance at all to be elected president in 2008? I agree with all your positions and I myself am so far to the left on most issues that its not even on the spectrum of what can be talked about in the MSM. But I also whole heartedly endorse Obama. I don't think he's the reincarnation of JFK (nor in fact that JFK was all that great) but I do think he represents a real alternative to both Clinton and McCain. He was against the war from the very beginning. More importantly he has shown by the way he dealt with the Wright nonsense and other issues that he actually has some principles that mean something to him. The problem I have with the left in this country is that so many of them seem more concerned with winning debating points than winning elections. Nader can go on and on about all the things that are wrong with Clinton and Obama but I have never heard him give a practical alternative as to how to elect someone better. I would think that 7 years of Bush instead of Gore would have made everyone on the left realize that we need to play real politik and not vote based solely on our ideals but it seems that's not the case.

I went back and counted three times where they ran the audio from Obama's radio interview. The three times I saw it, they stopped the audio after "typical white person" BUT went on and READ the remainder of the quote.

Why not play the entire quote? Why play half of it and read the other half?

The only thing I can think of is that they wanted to maximize the emotional impact of the "typical white person" portion while being able to maintain that they DID provide the entire context.

They tried that argument with Wallace, but he acted as if he was familiar with the tactic and called them on it.

I cannot, for the life of me, understand what the media is doing here. I know with a 24 hour news cycle you have a lot of time to fill, but MY GOD!!! It's not just Fox News though, I love HuffPost, but I just read the most ridiculouse article on here headlined "why barack changed his name". The article is essentially about obama droping his nickname Barry when he went to college. Seriously? Is that even kind of close to sort of mattering?

It's funny that people are even debating Sen Obama's typical white comment. Newsflash..........he's white too. What part of that are you missing? Is it because his skin is black and not white? Wrong, wrong, wrong he's been blessed to experience both worlds. My goodness, the man grew up in a white household, he has just as much claim to his mother's heritage as to his father's. This country has forced people of mixed race to choose sides. Unfortunately, it's solely based on the color of one's skin. It shouldn't be that way.

My apologies up front for being glib but why does anyone watch FOX or CNN or MSNBC for that matter? They are all awful. They are intellectually depraved and 95% pure propaganda. Now that we have the Internet, YouTube etc there seems little value in "watch" this tripe.

CNN is not far behind Fox these days. I stopped watching Dobbs some time after another one of his anti-immigrant rants. I have turned Blitzer off for his frenzied reporting on the Wright controversy.

I have yet to hear the MSM mention the greater context of Wright's remarks. For that matter, I have yet to see the media frenzy vis a vis Hillary's fabrications regarding her visit to Bosnia.

EXCUSE ME FOLKS,

I've been wanting to say this here and on "Kos" as well as other blogs for an awfully long time, and I'm quite sure many of you have already acknowledge this:
The only way, and I mean ONLY way to stop the "Talking-Heads" or any other unsavory business in our society is called "BOYCOTT"!!!

These businesses are just that, in business to make money, TV news via sponsors. With the V-chip, cable, direct-TV etc; these people need and must SELL commercials to it's viewers. Sponsors monitor the amount of viewers via the aforementioned covert operations in place. Better then telephone wire tap, Internet interception and satellite spying, it is a direct link to each and every household. Couple that with the voluntary Nielson hook-ups, the paying sponsors know what we watch and when we watch it. They are not in the business of losing money, when we tune these radicals out/off, as well as boycott their products, they do an one eighty and pull their commercials, by by $-dollars.

Myself, I refused to watch them, all of them. Outside of the local forecast on the weather-channel, I leave them the F***k alone. Seriously, emailing them only tells them you're watching, which makes the sponsors very happy, puts a smile on their face.

Example: Howard Stern and others would get thousands of complaints monthly, so the sponsors hung in there. (Nothing against you Stern.)
Please, please, please turn these hippocrates off, or they will continue as long as we have an Earth to live on no matter who the next President is. Or they will suddenly see the light, WHEN THE BUCKS DRY UP.

You people are smart and well informed. Get to work, it will only take, two weeks or less!

PS. If you must watch something, try C-SPAN, nothing will change, until we do!

I think using the remark "typical white person" was a gaffe for Obama. For someone who is so concerned about race, he should realize that making "generalizations" about "black" or "white" people is the beginning of bigoted thinking and should always be avoided. We benefit by looking at people as individuals rather than groups members.

Wallace playing the objective arbiter is ridiculous, particularly given the way he treated the Republican primary candidates who weren't anointed de facto front runners during each of the debates. He who insists that an anti-war stance correlates to taking marching orders from Al Qaeda and Ahmendinijad is now pretending to be a pragmatist.

While not always agreeing with Chris Wallace [his 9/11 question to Bill Clinton--to which Clinton overreacted-- was excessively provocative and unfair], this isn't the first lecture he has delivered to the Fox & Friends hosts regarding Obama. He gave them a pretty effective "dressing down" last year when they were in full frenzy mode--along with just about everyone else at Fox--over the bogus Obama/ Madrassa story. Wallace deserves kudos for his stands in both cases.

I am not surprised by any of this. It is disheartening how much time has been spent in an apparent attempt to discredit Senator Obama on whatever they can find. Rev. Wright, Rev. Meeks, a statement he made that was taken out of context or whatever. He is running for President of the United States. He is the leading democratic candidate. Doesn't that merit some respect, at least a little?

As a REAL blonde, I am completely disgusted with the conservatives in this country who insist on keeping a bottle blonde in a crotch-flashing skirt around for decoration. And I am even more disgusted with those bottle blonds who are SO STUPID that they don't see that's all they're worth on these shows. Please get old faster so you can be replaced.

This is not really news. I flip to Fox in the morning when the other networks are in commercial. I would expect nothing less from the fraternal Arian Twins. These blockheads are so sanctimonius tha I swear, without editing, tey'd make a great comedy bit on SNL. When even Chris Wallace complains, you know that you're in the deep end of the cesspool. Congrats to Kilmeade for taking a stand.

"Typical White Person" meant that her remarks and her reactions to blacks in particular that she didn't know, was typical for that time period. You all know what this means. It's funny how most of you believe that you are so intelligent but miss something so obvious.

I think we all know what he meant. Move on.

if you say typical grandmother instead of typical white person, you get an entirely different result. when i heard it, that's what i thought of. i know what he said. i've heard the talking points. these people speak for 17 hours a day and sleep on a plane or a bus for a year. they're tired. this gotcha stuff speaks volumes about our 30 second attention span. it's just so pedestrian to seize on a phrase and repeat it over and over. "if mccain had said typical black person". i get it. don't vote for him if you're so offended.
This Hannity formula of dumbing everything down until you get black and white (depth not race) is so intellectually lazy you end up with Flag Lapel pins as a decisive issue. I've actually heard a congressman say failure to wear a flag pin is disqualifying. If this is the level of discussion we've been reduced to, God help us all.

I think the low low faux blondie on the set has a laugh that sounds like an animal but I cannot figure out which one. Maybe others can help out. For her glee at offending someone who might have a moral reason for his beliefs and is willing to not only stand up but to walk out on these obviously mentally challenged two-fer say the two left are very very well representative of those who are too stupid for words. The usual at Fox. Barack hasn't made it there for well known reasons and the racist quality which is reinforced each minute every day shoudl reduce the number of viewers but the republican party view the channel as their own so I pass it by. They insult my beliefs and who I am enough to doubt the mental capacity of anyone who likes the channel. But there are other morons aplenty across the other channels too that I often am not surprised to find out they once were on Fox as they still sound like it. I have to admit Tucker losing his show was a good day for me as I accidentially have picked MSNBC at the wrong time. I won't watch many on CNN as they have taken the same crap out of context that Clinton and Fox have and played it to death as "the truth" knowing full well they would not get called on the lie. Lou Dobbs is a racist like Rush and Bill O are he just picks on the mexicans where Rush and BillO pick on them all. Sad that we ave such poor quality news source/talking heads. The day of those "reporters" who dug deep into stories and exposed the lies and the damage done by the real people. In a past day Cinton's lies about her visits while first lady to other countries and her experience that wasn't what her bio has said it to be. Also the Burkle money the HSU situation and all of those associates past and present of the clintons would have been fresh meat true fodder for a jpouranlist willing to take the time to fill in the details and really be puting out the truth for all to see. Not much of the truth broadcast and deeper than the sewage run off.
