Brian Kilmeade

Fox News' very own anchors are speaking out — and walking off — over what they perceive to be "Obama-bashing" on their network.

This morning on "Fox and Friends," Brian Kilmeade walked off the set after a dispute with his co-hosts Gretchen Carlson (she who celebrates deadly floods) and Steve Doocy over Obama's comment that his grandmother is a "typical white person." Kilmeade argued that the remark needed to be taken in context and eventually got so fed up with his co-hosts that he walked off set.

Later, "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace came on the show and railed against "Fox and Friends" for what he called "Obama-bashing."

Watch both clips below (refresh your page if they don't load properly):

Brian Kilmeade walks off set over Obama dispute:

Chris Wallace rails against "Fox and Friends" for Obama-bashing

Update: Later that morning, Chris Wallace called into Brian Kilmeade's radio show to talk about the incident (apparently Steve Doocy was genuinely mad). Wallace also indicated that Fox execs might not have agreed with his position. You think? Find the audio here.

I think using the remark "typical white person" was a gaffe for Obama. For someone who is so concerned about race, he should realize that making "generalizations" about "black" or "white" people is the beginning of bigoted thinking and should always be avoided. We benefit by looking at people as individuals rather than groups members.

Wallace playing the objective arbiter is ridiculous, particularly given the way he treated the Republican primary candidates who weren't anointed de facto front runners during each of the debates. He who insists that an anti-war stance correlates to taking marching orders from Al Qaeda and Ahmendinijad is now pretending to be a pragmatist.

I just want to know where are all the studies on media bias now?

While not always agreeing with Chris Wallace [his 9/11 question to Bill Clinton--to which Clinton overreacted-- was excessively provocative and unfair], this isn't the first lecture he has delivered to the Fox & Friends hosts regarding Obama. He gave them a pretty effective "dressing down" last year when they were in full frenzy mode--along with just about everyone else at Fox--over the bogus Obama/ Madrassa story. Wallace deserves kudos for his stands in both cases.

I am not surprised by any of this. It is disheartening how much time has been spent in an apparent attempt to discredit Senator Obama on whatever they can find. Rev. Wright, Rev. Meeks, a statement he made that was taken out of context or whatever. He is running for President of the United States. He is the leading democratic candidate. Doesn't that merit some respect, at least a little?

As a REAL blonde, I am completely disgusted with the conservatives in this country who insist on keeping a bottle blonde in a crotch-flashing skirt around for decoration. And I am even more disgusted with those bottle blonds who are SO STUPID that they don't see that's all they're worth on these shows. Please get old faster so you can be replaced.

Still a breathtaking thought that this happened.

This is not really news. I flip to Fox in the morning when the other networks are in commercial. I would expect nothing less from the fraternal Arian Twins. These blockheads are so sanctimonius tha I swear, without editing, tey'd make a great comedy bit on SNL. When even Chris Wallace complains, you know that you're in the deep end of the cesspool. Congrats to Kilmeade for taking a stand.

I wish Obama would elaborate a little more. What is a "Typical White Woman", as he said?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:57 PM on 03/22/2008

if you say typical grandmother instead of typical white person, you get an entirely different result. when i heard it, that's what i thought of. i know what he said. i've heard the talking points. these people speak for 17 hours a day and sleep on a plane or a bus for a year. they're tired. this gotcha stuff speaks volumes about our 30 second attention span. it's just so pedestrian to seize on a phrase and repeat it over and over. "if mccain had said typical black person". i get it. don't vote for him if you're so offended.
This Hannity formula of dumbing everything down until you get black and white (depth not race) is so intellectually lazy you end up with Flag Lapel pins as a decisive issue. I've actually heard a congressman say failure to wear a flag pin is disqualifying. If this is the level of discussion we've been reduced to, God help us all.

I think we all know what he meant. Move on.

"Typical White Person" meant that her remarks and her reactions to blacks in particular that she didn't know, was typical for that time period. You all know what this means. It's funny how most of you believe that you are so intelligent but miss something so obvious.

I think the low low faux blondie on the set has a laugh that sounds like an animal but I cannot figure out which one. Maybe others can help out. For her glee at offending someone who might have a moral reason for his beliefs and is willing to not only stand up but to walk out on these obviously mentally challenged two-fer say the two left are very very well representative of those who are too stupid for words. The usual at Fox. Barack hasn't made it there for well known reasons and the racist quality which is reinforced each minute every day shoudl reduce the number of viewers but the republican party view the channel as their own so I pass it by. They insult my beliefs and who I am enough to doubt the mental capacity of anyone who likes the channel. But there are other morons aplenty across the other channels too that I often am not surprised to find out they once were on Fox as they still sound like it. I have to admit Tucker losing his show was a good day for me as I accidentially have picked MSNBC at the wrong time. I won't watch many on CNN as they have taken the same crap out of context that Clinton and Fox have and played it to death as "the truth" knowing full well they would not get called on the lie. Lou Dobbs is a racist like Rush and Bill O are he just picks on the mexicans where Rush and BillO pick on them all. Sad that we ave such poor quality news source/talking heads. The day of those "reporters" who dug deep into stories and exposed the lies and the damage done by the real people. In a past day Cinton's lies about her visits while first lady to other countries and her experience that wasn't what her bio has said it to be. Also the Burkle money the HSU situation and all of those associates past and present of the clintons would have been fresh meat true fodder for a jpouranlist willing to take the time to fill in the details and really be puting out the truth for all to see. Not much of the truth broadcast and deeper than the sewage run off.

I am still waiting for the MSNBC anchor who has enough gumption to question the Clinton bashing on Hardball and Countdown. Now, that would be refreshing!

All this Bull-oney over Obama's grandma being typical. Sorry folks, most people are typical despite what people in Lake Woebegon believe. Most people are average. Average whatever color your skin is. That's the statistical curve. If you think you're special, more power to you, but you may not necessarily be above average. And you just may be simply typical for your age, size, socioeconomic status, your educational attainment, blah, blah, blah.....get over it.

These people are talking about issues which might be important if we did not have much graver things for candidates to talk about, and for media people to talk about. You all know what these grave issues are. It is not to play down that race is important, just to play up that these other issues are life and death for our country.

Fox News as a "hard rightwing agent" managed to undermine the candidacy of the best Republican in the field, Mike Huckabee. Ann Coulter also participated, pushing Rombot, and all the other suspects followed the script--Limbaugh and the Pack. So their support does not necessarily go to the best of the "right" but to the malleable person picked out by....Who? This is not so much a rightwing issue as an issue of who serves the globalist masters, or whatever we are calling the creme de la creme these days. It's more disgusting than we thought.

Again, I am on the side of the two questioning the remark of Obama and pointing out the obvious: It was a generalization. It was an inappropriate generalization that did, indeed, imply that all white people are racist. I'm not into slicing and dicing people. I recognize that sometimes one speaks carelessly when you're doing nothing but speaking to the public for a year and a half straight. Look at how the Obama supporters go nuts over everything that Bill Clinton says. A story last week tore into a perfectly respectable interview on Meet the Press because the poor soul dared to misspeak and confused Iowa and Ohio.

So when Obama supporters gleefully jump on everyone else, such as Hillary on 60 minutes after she repeats 6 times that he isn't Muslim, then act all huffy when it's pointed out that his attitude sure does contradict his own message about getting beyond racial stereotypes.......that's fair, folks.

Either Obama supporters get over their ultra-reactivity or the general election will not just tear the Dem party apart, it will tear the country apart.

Mr. Obama's elitistism, exhibited in how be behaved with Ferarro, will be THE SINGLE MOST DIVISIVE FORCE IN AMERICA yet.

Watch and see. You'll be begging for someone, anyone to stop the insanity.

You guys are really reaching. I've watched this show for years. There is a lot of impromptu "egging" of each other and Kilmeade walking off the set was nothing more than that. When you try to position this as a major blow-up among those guys because of "Obama bashing", you are grasping at straws.

It's more than just a bit pathetic.
