UPDATE: The New York Observer's Felix Gillette reports that Tur is not joining the CW as an anchor but has accepted a position as a freelance reporter:

The Media Mob caught up with a CW11 spokesperson Jessica Bellucci this morning. According to Ms. Bellucci, Ms. Tur joined the station several weeks ago as a "freelance reporter," working on general assignment.

"She got the job on her own merit," said Ms. Bellucci.

ORIGINAL ITEM: Page Six reports today that Keith Olbermann's live-in girlfriend, 24-year old Katy Tur, has been offered a news anchor position at New York station CW11:

We hear Olbermann's live-in girlfriend, Katy Tur, 24, just landed a news-anchor job on CW11, allegedly with his help. Many are whispering about her qualifications, considering she once professed she didn't go to journalism school and she's simply been referred to as a "freelance cable producer" in New York and LA.

You can view Katy's online video portfolio at Current.com, which hosts tapes of her mostly reporting from various New York locations (sometimes even on camera), or view photos of her here (thanks to commenters CaptainHowdy and KOisGod for pointing them out).

I'm 50, and my girlfriend is 32. She's not dating me for my money or connections, as I have very little of the former, and even less of the latter. And no, she doesn't have some sort of father-fetish; her last boyfriend was younger than her. (and as luck would have it, my previous girlfriend was older than me) Some people just aren't that hung up on age. If your minds meet, and your bodies manage to work together, what's the big deal?

I agree. The stereotype and disapproval of this comes from the sting an older woman feels when she is traded in for a younger model...... a much younger model. It becomes more painful when children are involved and are discarded for the new model as well.

It is acceptable for two adults of any age to be together.... as long as they have not destroyed lives, trust, hopes and dreams in the process.

Face it, for a 40 yr old guy, nothing works better than Viagra than a 24 year old woman.

On March 20 Olbermann turned his show into a one hour infomerical for the Obama. It was complete with attacks on HRC and McCain and readings from Obama press releases. You can read more about this nonsense here: http://blog.heritage.org/2008/03/24/what-is-keith-olbermann/

I'm a total lefty and find Keith amusing and sometimes his special comments pack a punch, but Keith Olbermann is in no way a journalist. He even admitted it on Bill Moyer's Journal that he's doing the same thing Bill O'Reilly is doing. His campaign coverage is pure horse race. He's got the same dozen talking heads on no matter what the subject is. When he does report something the American people should know about it's in the form of "Bushed" and about an inch deep. Yeah, Keith, it's funny that Bush can't pronounce Olmert and Abbas, but did anything actually get accomplished at Annapolis? Nothing worth mentioning, apparently. Keith is okay for mindless Bush bashing fun, but I never learn anything from his show. Thank god I get Democracy Now on my satellite!

Journalism School is to journalism as English muffins are to England.

Why don't you righties go crawl back into your FOX hole, and leave Keith alone? I'd take him anyday, especially over O'Lielly, Limbag, or anybody else on Faux News.

because he echoes your left wing diatribes (usually reading straight from HRC's Mediamatters, DU, or Daily Kos where he is a regular poster?

Objective news journalist, thy name is KO.../sarc off

Keith Olbermann is superb. Congrats, Keith. And keep up the great work. America is lucky to have you and we're proud of you!

Quick Question:

You people here love to rip on FoxNews as being a right wing mouthpiece...so you believe it to be biased and thus untrustworthy...at the same time, you enjoy (or deplore depending on your candidate choice) Keith's "slant" or "views" on the news. These include his stable of guests which are generally the same 6 people over and over again all from such objective places as "Air America" and the fact that he posts regularly on DailyKos whose stated objective is to get Dems elected.

How is it that his "views" and his associations from blantantly left wing people and businesses do not make hime as untrustworthy as FoxNews? Or is it simply because he is biased towards your views and THAT makes it all OK?

Quick Answer:

Fox "News" pretends to be a news channel. It uses the laughable slogan "Fair and Balanced" (yeah, right) and it broadcasts extreme right-wing propaganda 24/7. Rupert Murdoch, Roger Ailes and the other people who own and control Fox "News" have every right to do this.

However, they need to be upfront about their content. An honest slogan would be "Conservative Opinion" or "News from a Rightwing Viewpoint" or "Reactionary Reporting".

Keith Olbermann, is just one show on MSNBC. Some of the MSNBC shows have very conservative slants and guests. Keith is alone as the one progressive voice. And he makes it clear that his show is about analyzing and commenting on the news. "Countdown" is there to discuss and dissect (and sometimes to laugh at) the news of the day.

If the entire MSNBC network had shows like "Countdown" 24/7 AND if they had a slogan like "Objective and Unbiased" then you'd have a good argument that this was just a left-wing propaganda version of Murdoch's network. It's not.

If only we progressives had a 24/7 network that broadcast our viewpoints and perspectives. I wish you right-wingers were right about that. It would be great. Unfortunately it doesn't yet exist.

Upfront about their content: Sean Hannity is on a show with Alan Colmes ( an opinion show) ademocrat...he interviews both republicans and dems...he and the channel do not claim him to be a journalist...or that it is a news show...same is said for oreilly...Fox CONSTSNTLY has people from both sides on either at the same time or back to back

MSNBC and Olbermann claim he is a newsman or journalist on a news show...this IMPLIES a reporting of the news, not just the posting of one point of view

Olbermann is the only one????? tell that to chris "Obama feeling up my leg" matthews or dan abrahams who couldn't be much more anti-republican...as far as slogan goes...doesn't a NEWS site IMPLY objectivity except where explicitly mentioned (as fox does)

I"f only we progressives had a 24/7 network that broadcast our viewpoints and perspectives. I wish you right-wingers were right about that. It would be great. Unfortunately it doesn't yet exist."---you do its called nbc, cbs, abc, cnn, msnbc, pbs, npr, air america, NYT, LAT, Time, Newsweek...need i go on? and if you are one of those who say that they are not biased, they themselves have admitted it...google it

Quick Answer: Yes. That's what people do, right wing and left wing. They only notice it when it's being done by the other side, never in themselves.

The difference is, KO doesn't try to hide his slant, and generally uses facts to back up his position, while O'Reilly and the rest of the Fox bunch hide behind the "fair and balanced" nonsense. You'll notice that when Billo calls someone a liar, that's as far as the comment goes. You're just supposed to take him at his word that his opponent is a liar. When KO calls someone a liar, he'll quote what the person said, then report the truth about the incident, therefore SHOWING you why he called the person a liar. You never get that out of O'Reilly; you just get the insult with no backup facts.

I must admit, though, KO has been veering a little too far into O'Reilly territory and is starting to annoy. Stuff like the constant bashing of Billo over the "I wouldn't go on a lynching party" line, or trashing Jon Stewart for the Obama joke at the Oscars, is becoming the flip side of what Fox does: using things out of context to make a point you know damn well isn't what the speaker intended. I've written several mails to MSNBC about this; he's in danger of becoming too big for his britches, just like Billo did years ago.

She and Elliot Spitzer's girl can exchange notes on what it's like to be with an older "more mature" man.

Honestly, I thought the guy was gay....

I've watched Keith Olbermann's show. He's OK, but seems a bit of a grandstander. I don't really understand why we need to know about his personal life;I guess the Clinton goons and the right-wing are putting this out as retaliation for his "Special Comment" on the Clinton campaign a couple of weeks ago.

Having said all that, when I was 24, there was no chance I would have been attracted to someone old enough to be her father, and certainly not someone who LOOKED old enough to be my father. I would hate to think that Katy Tur is dating Olbermann for--gasp!--his connections!

Gee, maybe she's dating him for his intelligence and wit. Some of us actually find that kind of thing appealing.

Well, even Bill Gates gets laid.

I wonder - does he put on his fakey booming voice when he hits the Big O? No, don't tell me. Never mind.

I'm a Lib, and I still want to push his face into a stack of pies. Smary, arrogant, self-indulgent to the point of arrogance...yeah, dats Keef. Good luck with your mid-life crisis, sir. Don't eff up her life, is really all I need to say.

Hey mojopo; what's the problem. A little jealous of successful, intelligent, middle age TV commentators? Or are you just not getting any yourself?

Don't know how I feel about this. Seems like an attempt to embarrass Keith O. for his HRC chastising special comment...you think? Aren't the personal lives of msm anchors who achieve Yoda status usually off limits? Or is he the only single one? Just had an "aha" moment...Keith is always hammering Bill O. for his lechery...All the while, he houses a 24 yr. old, pretty-young-thing, in his own home, who is not his daughter! ....Keith stepped outside his forcefield and f*&5d with the Clintons....Now, he's fair game. Ouch.
And he like Obama, is a mortal...I'm not disappointed. Look to the Greeks, who were much more pragmatic and laid it all out...Demi-God.

I agree. Everything can be traced back to the Clintons. No one else in the world exists and things don't just happen on their own.
