Time Magazine:

Spirited Clinton adviser tells the New York Times that New Mexican governor's backing Obama during Holy Week was "appropriate" and "ironic" because it was like Judas selling out Jesus.

"Mr. Richardson's endorsement came right around the anniversary of the day when Judas sold out for 30 pieces of silver, so I think the timing is appropriate, if ironic," Mr. Carville said, referring to Holy Week.

The thought has crossed my mind that perhaps Gov. Richardson is sexist. He is a likable guy and done many good things. However, I can't find one example where he has supported a woman. He may be of the mindset that only men can be successful in politics. Too bad if he does.

I don't think the sexist theory holds up because putting Hillary in the WH is really putting BILL Clinton back in there. I think that Gov. Richardson realized that Senator Obama 'overall' would be better for America.

Even though the media does not ever mention it Senator Obama does have more years and experience in ELECTED office than Hillary.
Senator Obama has TAUGHT the U.S. Constitution and believes in it.
Senator Obama has passed more legislation in the senate than Hillary.
Senator Obama has LESS baggage than the Clintons.
Senator Obama has brought in more new democrats this election season than Hillary.
The list goes on and on....

Sexist? How amusing. If you look at Hillary's campaign "brain trust" they are basically white lard ass men who would be called whores and sluts if they were women. Try critical thinking for a refreshing change.

Well, the "sexist theory" may not hold up, but the TURNCOAT theory certainly does. Bill Richardson's defending himself, saying that he is "not disloyal" brings to mind Richard Nixon claims of "I'm not a crook."

If the interviews I've heard on TV and radio are representative, Hillary's supporters--particularly of the Pennsylvania variety--are some of the most sexist people there are. They're not voting for Hillary. They're voting for Bill and assuming that she has no real intention of actually being president herself but will let Bill call the shots. If any of them thought she was going to do anything other than what Bill tells her, they'd vote for someone else.

Sadly, I eagerly await the departure of the Clintons, Ferraro, Carville, Penn, et al. from the political scene. All but Penn I once admired. Those days are done.

Anyone that doesn't endorse your candidate is sexist? Stop with the gender card, I'm a woman and that doesn't help ANY woman.

What WILL help is if you can kindly provide us with a detailed list of accomplishments that Hillary has given women in her 35 years of experience.

Good work! Keep going, Carville!

Here's REAL "Judas work".... (from Woodward's book)

Apparently, Kerry had decided not to concede. There were 250,000 outstanding ballots in Ohio.

So Kerry decides to fight. In fact, he considers going to Ohio to camp out with his voters until there is a recount. This is the last thing the White House needs, especially after Florida 2000.

So what happened?

James Carville gets on the phone with his wife, Mary Matalin, who is at the White House with Bush.

"Carville told her he had some inside news. The Kerry campaign was going to challenge the provisional ballots in Ohio — perhaps up to 250,000 of them. 'I don't agree with it, Carville said. I'm just telling you that's what they're talking about.'

"Matalin went to Cheney to report…You better tell the President Cheney told her."

Matalin does, advising Bush that "somebody in authority needed to get in touch with J. Kenneth Blackwell, the Republican Secretary of State in Ohio who would be in charge of any challenge to the provisional votes." An SOS goes out to Blackwell.

The rest is history.

James Carville, the man who plotted the Democrats "winning" White House strategy in the past two presidential elections said that Richardson's endorsement of Obama was an "act of betrayal." According to an article online at CNN this morning, Carville noted that the endorsement "came right around the anniversary of the day when Judas sold out for 30 pieces of silver, so I think the timing is appropriate, if ironic," Carville said, referring to the Easter weekend.

If George W Bush is the stupidest man to ever occupy the White House, what does that make James Carville? Carville headed the Democratic party during the elections from 2000-2004 and ceded most of the geographic US to the Republicans without putting up a fight so he could concentrate on the "states that matter." In all 3 election (2 presidential, 1 midterm) that saw an extremist brand of conservatism expand their majorities in the House and Senate. These far right polices of Bush and the Republicans do not represent the mainstream of America. Carville will go down as the man that lost 2 elections to George W Bush.

Thank God Howard Dean, flawed as he may be (the MI and FL controversies are a black mark on his resume), came up with the common sense strategy that the Democrats are a national party and will compete in every state, every congressional district. This has lead to Democratic victories on the local, state and national level in areas the Democratic Party has not been competitive for years and allowed the Democrats to take over Congress in 2006. This network that Dean put into place has helped Obama be competitive across the country, even in states that "don't matter."

In closing about Carville's "act of betrayal" comments, to the best of my knowledge Bill Richardson does not sleep with the enemy. Richardson is not married to Republican Party strategist Mary Matalin who was an assistant to Bush and Cheney. I guess that makes Carville an expert on betrayal doesn't it?

I agree with all you've written but for the black mark on Dean's CV for Florida and Michigan. I fai to understand how else he could have handled the situation. Should he have allowed them to schedule their primaries early? He had many good reasons for sanctioning them, and the fact he's entertained the revotes (actually awarding them for their misdeeds) has been quite generous. The rules are in fact important, and if Florida and michigan get a pass, the race to be first in 2012 will bring havoc to the primary season.

As to Carville, I think both him and the Clintons should retire from national politics. None of them are team players for the democratic party.

James Carville is a terrific Democratic strategist who knows his stuff. There is no question in the minds of anyone who is in the know with regard to him. His expertise is sought after by many campaigns.

Howard Dean...I am so thankful he did not make it into the Oval Office. I don't think he can even run the DNC, let alone the country. If he and the DNC do not count the votes of the voters as they cast them, and they refuse to mandate new primaries for both Michigan and Florida if they are not going to count the votes of the voters as they originally cast them, then Howard Dean should be removed as a failed leader in the Democratic party - he has show no leadership thus far, in my opinion - and the way we vote in this country should go back to basics: no delegates, no superdelegates - just the voters voting when their own states decide the right time is - and those votes being counted and the candidate who gets the majority wins. Very simple. The person with the most votes wins. I am sick and tired of voters in this country being disenfranchised by a group of elitists who think this is all right because state leaders broke a ridiculous "rule" instituted by people who feel it is within their moral right to cast the WILL OF THE VOTERS aside.

Bill Richardson - I think he has exhibited the worst kind of disloyalty because he had no real reason which he, himself, seemed to be saying, other than he wanted to be a part of the campaign of a person he thinks might get the nomination. Is that because he cut a deal with Barack Obama to run as VP if he came out and endorsed Obama at this time when Obama's numbers are circling the drain? Motives and stratigies, I guess. But, disloyalty of the worst kind, in my opinion. I cannot imagine giving someone so much and being such a good friend to someone as the Clintons have been to Bill Richardson and then have him stab you in the back this way. I used to have a lot of respect for Bill Richardson, but now I have none.

Obama's numbers are "Circling the drain"? Not in the latest Gallup Polls.

And talk about loyalty, Billary had no problem throwing Lani Guanier, their "good" friend, under the bus when there was too much heat.

As Archie Bunker (Bill Clinton's new role model) use to say, "Good Night Nurse"!!!

Montana, once a union Democratic liberal state..Mike Mansfield's home territory.. became Republican because of Ronald Reagan. When Dean began his 'no state left behind' policy, Montana defeated a three term GOP Senator and elected a Democratic governor. Now, the GOP has gone nuts and wants to 'execute' liberal republicans. Both Obama and Hilary will appear in Butte in a couple of weeks and things will change even more. It is Dr. Dean and not the clowns around Hilary that knows his stuff.

Carville is not only wrong, but he is incompetent and the 'snitch' ....a spy in the house of love.

Can we please get this nomination over with and get the Clintons and their awful surrogates out of th Democratic Party -- FOREVER! All they did was get themselves re-elected while the Democrats lost controls of both houses of congress and the working and middle class got screwed. Carville Penn, and the rest of the DINOs need to go away and stay away so real change can come to this country.

Grow up. No one should be shackled to someone else just because they helped them out before. Richardson does not have to, and should not be disrespected, for not supporting Hillary Clinton. A lot of prior Clinton supporters do not support her. Are they going after all of them and calling them Judas'?

You can tell Richardson is feeling the heat (from fellow Democrats and his own constituency in NM who a majority voted for Clinton) On the Sunday News Show it looked like Richardson couldn't quite figure out who he endorsed! And several times seemed to be trying to minimize the blow by defending Bill Clinton. He better hope Obama wins, and gives him the VP slot. Because his political career in NM may just be over. Being known for Betrayal is never really a strong suit when it comes to politics.

# 1 I don't know what Carville and Matalin are doing in their private lives, but yikes, they are looking like refugees out of "Tales from the Crypt".

#2 RE: Richardson endorsing Obama- too bad Carville. Cry me a river. Richardson if following his principals of what he believes is good for party and the nation. If you had any ethics you would appreciate it. Of course, signing onto the Clinton machine, one of the prerequisites is that you toss any personal ethics overboard in allegiance to the fuhrerein.

Poor James! Feeling betrayed? Guess you now know how most Americans felt when Billy Clinton said that he was opposed to NAFTA and then, once elected, turned around and signed it into law. While you're crying, go ahead and have a good cry about losing the nomination too.

The strongest argument against Hillary is that her campaign is a package deal with her ex-president and his sycophants thrown in. Notwithstanding her Terminator image it's hard to believe that she can rise above the weaknesses of Bill's presidency and move beyond his carefully triangulated politics, which laid a foundation for the Bush-Cheney disaster. To undo the last seven years' damage the Democrats must sweep to huge majorities in both Houses of Congress. The longer Hillary runs her campaign the weaker the Democrats become. The peace and prosperity of the 90's was a moment that had no carry-through owing to Bill's peccadillos. Let's try a fresh start.
