Clinton On Obama

The New York Times reports that a top aide to Barack Obama accused former President Bill Clinton of employing "divisive attacks" to promote his wife's candidacy:

As Senator Barack Obama folded his arms and looked on, one of his leading military advisers forcefully defended Mr. Obama's patriotism here Saturday and accused former President Bill Clinton of trying to employ "divisive attacks" to promote his wife's presidential candidacy.

Mr. Clinton, in a speech to voters in North Carolina on Friday, said "it would be a great thing if we had an election year where you had two people who loved this country and were devoted to the interest of this country."

At a town meeting here Saturday, retired Air Force Gen. Merrill A. McPeak, who is a co-chairman of Mr. Obama's campaign, read the quote from Mr. Clinton. A few members of the audience gasped and hissed at the former president's words.

"Let me say first, we will have such an election this year because both Barack Obama and John McCain are great patriots who love this country and are devoted to it -- so is Hillary Clinton," General McPeak said, speaking over loud applause. "Any suggestion to the contrary is flat wrong."

Mr. Obama, on his first trip to Oregon before the state's primary on May 13, did not address the comments from Mr. Clinton. He stood a few feet away from the retired general as he made his remarks before a crowd of more than 1,500 people in a Medford community center.

Keep reading the New York Times report.

The Clinton campaign has reined in the former president in the past after he made other similarly divisive remarks, including:

Calling Obama's Iraq War claims a "fairy tale":

"Give me a break. This whole thing is the biggest fairy tale I've ever seen," Clinton had said in accusing Obama of distorting his stance on the war.

Telling Charlie Rose that a vote for Obama would be like "rolling the dice":

In a hard-changing interview with Charlie Rose tonight, Bill Clinton said Americans who are prepared to choose someone with less experience, are prepared to "roll the dice" about the future of America. "It's less predictable, isn't it? When is the last time we elected a president based on one year of service before he's running?"

"What do you want to do -- whether you think it matters that, I mean, in theory, no experience matters," Clinton said. "In theory, we could find someone who is a gifted television commentators and let them run. They'd have only one year less experience in national politics..."

I'm curious.

When did Obama and pastor Wright announce?

When was Hillary's passport file breached?

Who is the CEO for the company, Stanley, John Brennan?

Is John Brennan an Obama supporter?

Is he an EX-CIA officer?

This story won't die because it has legs. The FBI needs to be involved now.

mponti,

Great post. I second that one all the way. The Clintonista's are burning all the bridges they built to the 21st Century. Hillary is destroying her own reputation. For nothing. She isn't going to get the nod anyway. I'm going to get films of all the sermons by the black reverend at Stephanie Tubbs Jones church. The one Hillary just loves to hang at when she's in Cleveland.

I can do it easily. I predict the resulting video will be shocking! Does anyone read the Cleveland paper? Some very interesting connections between Obama's United Church and Cleveland's worship place of the same name have turned up. Like the pastors all know each other or are related to each other! I wonder if they MIGHT have the same views on race in America as well?

We'll keep investigating further. We'll make sure ALL the dirt comes out now. You best believe.

10 million democrats have yet to have their say in this process.

It will all be over in June. Relax

BTW, did you hear about the spies at the State Department seeking information to smear their opponents with?

Where do the Repubs keep hatching mindlessly hateful tr0lls like yourself?

What comes to mind is the scene(s) in the Lord of the Rings movies where the mindlessly hateful Orcs are "hatched" from the slimy bowels of the Earth.

Very similar (especially considering what emerges from bowels) except the orcs were honest about their intentions. Wow, less ethical than a mythical evil creature, that should earn you props from Rush.

MNDADDY said:

"I think Hillary can beat that machine. Hate me all you want. But I think it's true"

MNDADDY I think Hillary OR Obama can both beat that machine easily. One of these two has to lose the nomination my friend. Obama is so far above Hillary in every category it's just too obvious. MNDADDY a question for you. Basic politics 101. Why do you favor the person receiving LESS of the popular vote by a factor of 600,000 or so? Is it because you want so very badly for Democrats to win?

Barack has accumulated over a hundred MORE pledged delegates to this point yet somehow you read into this that HILLARY is the stronger candidate?

Republicans are crossing party lines to vote for Hillary just to avoid having to run against Barack Obama. Why would they do this?

Your really confused about something. Hillary isn't the only person who could beat the Republicans in 2008. Look again. There is someone else. Someone you refuse to allow into the national discourse. I don't understand why that is based on just mathematics and logic. Is there perhaps another hidden reason?

I will support either Hillary or Barack. I just hope everybody is comfortable with pastor Wright on your radio and in your house, via TV 527 ads, from September to November.

Btw, pastor Wright doesn't scare me at all, neither does the idea of an African American President. I am sooo for that, and I honestly mean that.

My issue with Barack, and it is the only issue, is I don't thing he can win the general election and democrats need to win this election.

It's not personal, it's not racial, it's not theological, it's, in my heart, trying to do what is right for my country and soul. FYI, I take this very seriously. I may sound glib at times, that is to keep up with you guys and gals.

Hillary Clinton can beat the machine. She has watched as her husband did. That is the "experience" she is talking about. That is democratic code for, we can beat these guys.

Obama needs to quit the church, wait 8 years and be the first African American President of the United States of America.

No, I'm not saying blacks to sit in the back of the bus, I'm saying it is not his time yet.

BTW, black men had the right to vote before women of any color did. So, give the girl a break will you? Please.

I think you meant to say "Hillary Clinton can MANIPULATE THE MACHINE", right? "She has watched as her Husband did....(MANIPULATE THE MACHINE)". Sorry, but "experience" lived vicariously thru someone else's eyes is not experience...it's delusions of grandeur. Oh, and can you please direct me to the posting site where you inform all the Catholics they need to "quit the Church" because their Priests molested underage boys? I would like to see what you suggested there as well.
But by all means, bring the 527 ads on...so we can finally see that Rev. Wright was simply paraphrasing Ambassador Peck, et al, when he said what he said. Get it out of your system. And if it's "not personal, not racial, and not theological", by all means, explain to this educated dummy what it actually is....? cause i just don't get it.

I understand your concerns and to some extent I share the same concerns. I really would like to see democrats in the house. However, Obama has shattered multiple odds against him and the voter turnout for him has far exceeded McCain's. If the right continues to smear him with the Pastor's statements, I think Obama will actually gain voters who would be tired of the same old crap. Now there are knuckleheads who would have not voted for Obama anyway. They might never be convinced one way or the other. But I am confident that endless televising of pastor wright would definitely turn some people off. Especially people like Chris Wallace who actually voiced his concern on air. I am not sure what stunt he was trying to pull but I am happy he pointed out that 2 hours of Obama bashing makes their station look bad.

In practice, however, blacks effectively didn't have such rights until Lyndon B. Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act giving them the right to vote.

And to think we just past Black history month...

You don't know much about history, do you? Ever hear of Jim Crow laws? Not many black men got to vote even though by law they could. They had to take tests, pay money, etc. Hillary Clinton is dependent on a bunch of dumbass men who have ruined her campaign. She did not listen to the women. I rest my case.

People really need to get some perspective. When Obama was getting repubs and independents, the spin was that it's because he was appealing to them. when hillary gets them, the spin is because they want to see obama lose.

stop the background noise. let the campaign continue.

and seriously, if you are an obama supporter, you better figure out how to appeal to the voters in OH and PA (and similar states), who seem to be rejecting him.

MNDADDY,

Your concern is showing. Your starting to fray around the edges there. We are getting closer and closer to one inevitable result. The numbers won't lie for you. What you need to do now is give your support to the best candidate. Barack Obama. Democrats need to unite behind Obama. Behind ONE candidate. Not sow division and tarnish our party's name with inferences of racial hatred and bigotry. I know you can see that. It's right in front of your face. Unable to beat Obama on the issues, Hillary is miring herself in a racial mudbath hoping against hope to rally the "Vote for me cause I'm white" demographic. It's an ugly desperate weapon of last resort that should have never been.

Your keeping her alive in this race MNDADDY.

You and the rest of your ilk.

Tell me MNDADDY is all this for "the good of the party?"

The people from all over the world are calling into C-SPAN. It's amazing what grasp they have on American politics. They say the world want OBAMA. This one woman is calling from IRELAND and she said she wished they had OBAMA. She says he did not bring up the RACE card. She said he is brilliant and he is the best candidate. She is an older woman in England. the people of the world has a better picture of america than we do.

The first day post Labor Day 2008 I hope we have a democratic candidate who can satisfy the soccer moms and six pack dads.

Otherwise, it will be 8 more years. Not the good Clinton 8 years, the horrible Bush 8.

Take your pick. BTW, while Olberman and MSNBC were foaming at mouth over PassPort-gate did any of you see this . . .

So, somebody from Ireland has an opinion of the US presidential campaign. Does that woman know that in SC Obama's campaign had four pages of talking points purporting to list various examples of race baiting the Clintons had engaged in? And that Obama decided to put the kabosh on it AFTER an aide had shown the talking points to a reporter?
The opinion of the rest of the world is important, but what the rest of the world wants is not the determinant of what the American people want. We will know that on November 5th.

Perks are good, but I think he believes he lost a "once-in-a-lifetime" opportunity to be a great president. He left under the cloud of Lewinsky (and other alleged scandals), despite his high approval ratings. If he could just get Hillary in he can get a "do-over" to make it right. Fat chance.

Sorry, but Obamafacts won't work outside of Olbermanworld.

Fact . . . Mr. Brennan contributed $2300 to Obama campaign in Jan. 2008, the max under law.

Fact . . . Mr. Brennan is an Ex-CIA official for the US of KKK A, and employed all the passport spies at the State Department.

What were Obama, Michelle and pastor Wright looking for.

Oh, in case my racist friends didn't notice, Mr Brennan is WHITE!!
