4000 US Soldiers Killed In Iraq

The death toll for U.S. solders in Iraq has reached 4000:

The overall U.S. death toll in Iraq rose to 4,000 after four soldiers were killed in a roadside bombing in Baghdad, a grim milestone that is likely to fuel calls for the withdrawal of American forces as the war enters its sixth year.

The American deaths occurred Sunday, the same day rockets and mortars pounded the U.S.-protected Green Zone in Baghdad and a wave of attacks left at least 61 Iraqis dead nationwide.

4,000 US soldiers killed. 89,867 Iraqi civilians killed since 2003. Overall Region Stability is chaotic. Besides getting rid of Saddam, I don't really see much progress. How have Iraqis been helped? Just going shopping in the local market can be a stressful experience due to the frequent car bombings and road side bombs.

I hope either Hillary or Obama are true to their words and end the violence.

Neither candidate has a viable plan to remove our combat troops from Iraq. Pay attention when each is interviewed and you will hear the words "responsible redeploymenty" and "protecting our troops and those Iraqis who supported us". If we were to leave too soon, those millions of Iraqis who supported us would be toast.

What kind of toast would you like to call the 4 - 6 million iraqi refugees (of the 27 million Iraqis in total) and the estimated 89,867 to 650,000 iraqi death.
It is hardly mentioned but the number of US soldiers wounded in Iraq is between 29,314 and 132,199 http://icasualties.org/oif//). Many of them would have died if they had the body protection level of the vietnam war.

It is sad that certain people in the US feel that the dignity and honor of the US army stands above the well being of another nation. These people have convinced themselves, even when all the signs show otherwise, that the US military is the best solution. They are unable to sit back and look at the problem objectively, caught in their own limited views on reality. Unable even to consider and discuss other viewpoints.

At least a change of strategy should be considered, even by the brilliant strategist that think this war is winnable (whatever that means). Admitting that the US is as much a part of the problem as a part of the solution, would be a good first reality sign to the rest of the world.
There are many other options available that include other nations (or UN) taking responsibility either militarily, economically and diplomatically. It is a matter of starting the process of considering and allowing it to happen.

A few weeks ago a stray cat came into our garage so I started feeding him. After a couple of weeks he was looking a lot better so I stopped feeding him (at my wifes insistence).

He must have thought I ran out of food because for the past several days he has been leaving half eaten critters by the door I used to come out to the garage.
