Us Deaths Pass Four Thousand

The death toll for U.S. solders in Iraq has reached 4000:

The overall U.S. death toll in Iraq rose to 4,000 after four soldiers were killed in a roadside bombing in Baghdad, a grim milestone that is likely to fuel calls for the withdrawal of American forces as the war enters its sixth year.

The American deaths occurred Sunday, the same day rockets and mortars pounded the U.S.-protected Green Zone in Baghdad and a wave of attacks left at least 61 Iraqis dead nationwide.

Watch CNN's veteran Iraq correspondent Michael Ware discuss the grim milestone, moments after the news crossed the wires:

My sincere condolences to their families and my sympathies to the

families of those troops who have to keep going back to Iraq so we

don't have to have a draft. I want to apologize to all those who have

suffered for not resisting this illegal & immoral war, more vigorously.

...................PEACE NOW!....................FASCISM NEVER!...........................

You realize, Mr Know it All, that YOUR loveman Mr BO is going to have the chance to show YOU how Iraq should be handled. Right?

No excuses. No rearranging the deck chairs. He is bringing the troops home BECAUSE he was 'always' against this illegal occupation. Right? I mean, that's what you do when you are 'sooooooo against this war from day one'. It only makes sense. Right?

Wrong. We are not just going to pull up stakes and leave Iraq. You and your kind are unbelievably naive. Not until we have EVERYTHING we want - everything we've deemed a MUST for the US. Which means, we'll have troops in Iraq until the damn cows come home. We - want - that - Real - Estate, oil and a few other things. We are not giving it up, no matter who is elected. We will get out eventually, but not until literally driven out or we go broke.

But ah, such miserable detail. Just love BO and to hell with facts. It's going to be a hoot to get on here, Missy Huffy's blog, in a year or 4 and read the RABID Iraq supporters (dems) ripping anyone who questions being in Iraq. It's going to be 'funny'. Not really. You're going to be vicious and hard(er) to deal with. Can you imagine? Yuck.

Why is Huff protecting (Hume) from challenges to his vile posts?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:10 PM on 03/24/2008

Ummmmm...because the challenges are not only vile, they're moronic?

Then let the court of opinion and argument decide that. They are not vile.

Freedom Never Cries
—DrewM.
Though you might after watching this video.

I am not a huge fan of Five For Fighting (though it’s a great name) but John Ondrasik just gets it. He knows who the good guys are and who the bad guys are and isn’t afraid to say it. Sadly, that’s not a very common trait among today’s purveyors of pop culture.

Apparently the older gentleman in the video is actually a recipient of the Medal of Honor.

Also, there’s some money donated to a military support charity just for watching the video. You don’t have to donate or do anything, it’s based on views.

Well worth the time watching. I urge our progressive friends to take the time to at least view, since monies do go to charity.

It is notable that "Mr. Freedom Fries," Rep. Walter Jones, has turned from coining jingoistic neologisms in the cafeteria, to quoting Kipling:

If any question why we died,
Tell them, because our fathers lied.

One way that might help prevent future wars is a proposal by Ralph Nader. It’s called: Draft at the Top.

Pass a law that says this - whenever Congress and the White House take our country to war, all able-bodied military-age children of every member of Congress, the President and the Vice-President will be conscripted automatically into the armed forces.

I would add that they have to serve in the front lines, in harm's way, not at some desk jobs.

And America went on to have a century of peace...

I'd add to that having a vote before each war. Those who vote yes must enlist.

CHENEY: On the security front, I think there’s a general consensus that we’ve made major progress, that the surge has worked. That’s been a major success.

RADDATZ: Two-third of Americans say it’s not worth fighting.

I think it is so romantic for these soldiers to have died looking for WMD and to bring freedom and christofacism to Iraq. We can look forward to more romanticism from McGraft.

Too many buy that BushCo tried to win this fiasco and failed.

I say all this was intentional; the civil war, no public services,

the mounting costs and the economic crisis here at home.

Our country has been under siege by the Bush crime family,

privatizing and profiteering their way to a fascist No. America.

Every needless death is equal.

There have been between 150,000 and 1,000,000 needless deaths.

Funny thing nobody really knows.

I suppose 4,000 is easier to keep track of, you know the ones that actually count, all the others are apperently of no consequence.

I was reading [I forget where now] that with the farce called the Democratic nomination process that only 6% of Americans can be bothered following the events in Iraq.

Makes me wonder what else is not being followed.

How many would American lives would Obama sacrifice to stop the genocide in Darfur? How many American lives would he have sacrificed to do the same in Rwanda, since he loves to play the hypothetical game of second-guessing the hard decisions made by others who actually counted?

He can't even take a consistent position on Jeremiah Wright and make a tough decision about church attendence.

IN THE WORDS OF THE GREAT AMERICAN VICE PRESIDENT, DICK CHENEY, "SO?"

So what if 4,000 young Americans died in Iraq. That's not as many as 46,000 who were killed in Viet Nam. If you were able to get 5 deferments to avoid going to Viet Nam, you would care less about people who die in war like Cheney, and you would want to stay in Iraq so that more will die. Just ask John "follow em to hell, McCain.

Of course not. When you are 18 you are an adult. You are not responsible for the actions of your parents. That's pretty weak, even for Nader, that is if you have actually quoted him correctly.
