ABC News :

Wrapping up a nine-day overseas trip to Iraq, Vice President Dick Cheney was asked, in an exclusive interview with ABC News, about the effect on the nation of today's grim milestone of at least 4,000 U.S. deaths over the five-year Iraq war.

Noting the burden placed on military families, the Vice President said the biggest burden is carried by President Bush, and reminded ABC news that the U.S. military in Iraq and Afghanistan volunteered for duty.

Bush's burden! Puhleeze. Bet it takes all of Bush and Cheney's concentration not to salute the military with their middle finger. Oh, forgot, Cheney has already done that.

Can we possibly listen to this total disregard for human life any longer? Real people gone....GONE..for EVER!!! If they are truly volunteers, then some adults somewhere must be responsible for placing them in harm's way. Imagine what could have been accomplished if we had stayed the course....as in tracking down the real goons who attacked us in '01. When the neocons cooked up this fiasco, all they had to do was sell it to a moron who knew nothing about much. The generals finally withered, and it was on. A few of our military men were convinced that their troops were being sent to a long drawn out drain of blood and treasure...but....Smirkey rules. And the American public bought it, along with the Senate. Sad...CFF

Now ain't that sweet. A draft dodger blaming the soldiers he sent to their death in violation of every law, foreign and domestic governing the behavior of nations.

I think he's showing lack of humility by saying Bush has the biggest burden. Bush is at home with his kids and family; he has not seen any combat. He goes on vacation while there is a Bush war taking place. I feel if these people are going to start a war, then they shouldn't go on any vacations until every single soldier is brought home. The family of those soldiers lost bare the biggest burden, their kids are gone. Volunteering doesn't mean Bush can send them to war just because they volunteered. They volunteered to defend their country, and last time I checked the Saudi's are in Saudi Arabia and Bin Laden is some where in Afghanistan, not Iraq. Are they there for WMD's or BinLaden?

The Vice-President understands, as have all leaders, that the burden of sacrifice is carried by families for their loss. But, the greatest burden is carried by the leaders who assign them their mission, knowing that some may not return at all, and more will return somehow impaired by injury.
