ABC News :

Wrapping up a nine-day overseas trip to Iraq, Vice President Dick Cheney was asked, in an exclusive interview with ABC News, about the effect on the nation of today's grim milestone of at least 4,000 U.S. deaths over the five-year Iraq war.

Noting the burden placed on military families, the Vice President said the biggest burden is carried by President Bush, and reminded ABC news that the U.S. military in Iraq and Afghanistan volunteered for duty.

Cheney is absolutely right. I mean, look at the photo on the front page of HuffPo. There he is coming out of a cramped airplane having to wear that ridiculous looking jacket and faking a military salute he could never quite get right, what with him always being AWOL and everything. The burden he must be under is ENORMOUS! Not like those lazy soldiers who get to live in the lap of luxury in those coffins of theirs. Cheney knows a slacker when he sees one!

I don't think anyone who was in the service when this bullshit war was declared or joined up after (take a look at the figures -- if there was such a huge "surge" in recruits, why are there National Guardsmen in their late 40s and 50s who have been deployed three times?) thought that their commander-in-chief would treat them like expendable toy soldiers and start wars just because he always wanted to. They probably trusted that the people asking them to give up their lives would have a pressing reason to do so. Point of information: nobody volunteers to die for no reason, Vice President Chickenshit and all of the neocon geniuses posting on here (who, despite all of their rah rah rah, are clearly typing from the safety and comfort of their homes or jobs and not , oddly enough, from Iraq or Afghanistan). None of the men and women in uniform ever thought we'd get an administration crazy, callous, and irresponsible enough to send them to fight just for the hell of it. Who would? That's not something good leaders do. But we have a bad leader, and this is what happens.

Yes they volunteered, as did my son, to "defend our country," not to sacrifice their lives and the lives of the Iraqi people on the altar of the Bush/Cheney ritual murder religion. The Bush/Cheney regime has betrayed our armed forces, our people and our Country's responsibility to use military power wisely. Now McCain proposes to "stay the course." I can only hope the Democratic party can avoid self destruction and face the reality of another Republican administration promising four more years or more of this madness.

Let's make sure we all get this clear. Is there really a race war? Or is it a Class War? This is not about Black and White. This is about The Have-mores and the Have-nots. (Note the Haves are eliminated from the equation.) Obama is not black any more than he is white. Tiger Woods is not black or white. He is Asian. This has nothing to do with Race. That is what they want you to believe. If We the People are not scared and manic, how will they control us. I hope the parents of all fallen "volunteers" join hands and look at each other.

I believe that Bush will use his last days in office to issue pardons for Cheney, himself and many others, even though many won't yet have been formally charged with a crime. I'm not sure anyone's ever been pardoned for "nothing" before, but I''ll be amazed if Bush doesn't do this. We may argue that such pardons are unconstitutional, but they'll stick, and Bush, Cheney and the gang will be immune, at least in the United States, forever.

And the press has Wright on a loop?....this guy (Cheney)is responsible for 4000 Americans dying and he can say any smarmy thing he wants and all of our highly touted political pundits keep their eyes averted...But let a 70 year old black minister say something stupid and these guys cannot pull themselves away....Cheney must know the old saying "got a sucker, bump his head" in this case the sucker is America/Americans and old Cheney just keeps on bumpin!

George W. is the president, and ultimately responsible for the actions of his administration, the rotten core of evil in this very bad apple is clearly Dick Cheney. Dick Cheney is an evil man. But I will never forgive Nancy Pelosi and the others in the DEM leadership, for failing to impeach Cheney, or to even try. Bush/Cheney were at the helm, but Pelosi and the DEM leadership are by their willful nonfeasance full complicite in their actions. They have done grave damage to our democracy and our future by failing to hold Mr. Cheney fully accountable under the Rule of Law, when it was their legal and moral responsibility to do so. Millions of us gave as much time and money as we could to assure that they would have this opportunity in '06. We succeeded in giving them control of Congress, but then Nancy "thanked" us by announcing "impeachment is off the table" an action that was both a betrayal and outside of her constitutional authority. She does not have the authority to ignore any part of our Constitution, including the impeachment provisions. They have failed us, and we will all be paying the costs of their failures for the rest of our lives. And 4,000 of us have already tragically paid with our lives in their senseless fiasco in Iraq. This will not stand. There will be change in '08.

The arrogance, evilness and sheer incompetence of this Administration seems to have no limitations!
