Times Online:

Hundreds of monks, nuns and local Tibetans who tried to march on a local government office in western China to demand the return of the Dalai Lama have been turned back by paramilitary police who opened fire to disperse the crowd.

Local residents of Luhuo said two people - a monk and a farmer - appeared to have been shot dead and about a dozen were wounded in the latest violence to rock Tibetan areas of China.

I'm sure there is a logical explanation.

Isn't Nun Shooting a new Olympic event?

You know, I have no love lost for China and your country. But for those suggesting an economic boycott Chinese products, good luck with that. I have tried to boycott buying YOUR products and Chinese products, and have realized I basically won't be able to eat or clothe myself, since there are so few products out there that don't have Chinese and U.S. components. If the U.S. had real guts, they would put a few thousand troops in Tibet as peacekeepers. But then again, you don't get into a street fight with the banker who holds your mortgage. It is going to be really interesting to see you americans' response when China rolls into Taiwan.

Boycott those who want to boycott the only international competition worth watching.

This is horrible. The US needs to boycott the Olympics but we won't because we probably are financially in debt to China! Boy, what a mess we have gotten ourselves into with this president and administration.

America is FINALLY getting a small glimpse into the heart of the Chinese ruling elite. They've been brutalizing the Tibetans for fifty years, but the world had more important things to attend to. For those of us intimate with Tibetan history and culture, these atrocities are nothing new. China has, perhaps, finally overplayed it's hand (maybe their negative karma is finally coming to fruition?). I hope and pray the world wakes up and demands China cease these horrific hostilities.

You will not be looked upon as a hero for competing but as an accomplice in AMERICA's genocide of IRAQ. Not just IRAQ, but all over THE MIDDLE EAST. Feel good as you stand up there clutching your medal handed to you by a child-butchering commie. That medal you hold in your hand was made possible by the killing of innocent people. If athletes want to do something good for this world instead of their own greedy self-interests, boycott the Olympics.

One could boycott the Olympics for many reasons...the Chinese refuse to do anything about Darfur either as they buy up half of Africa...they also ship cheap, shoddy goods to us as they hold us by the balls in debt. Say no to this economic and human rights acts of terrorism. Bush doesn't give a rat's ass what China does, just as he doesn't care if Israel annihilates the Palestinians, or if Musharraf destroys any chance for democracy in Pakistan, or if the Taliban retake Afghanistan or his Saudi buddies continue to repress women and do not allow the practice of Christian faith within their borders.

You mean only "Saudi buddies" oppress people of other faith?! How about most other Muslim countries where Christian missionaries and Buddhist coverts are get killed on regular basis.

So, they've shipped our industries off to CHINA. Hey, did you hear, the "fed" stopped telling us how much money they're printing out. GEE, I WONDER WHY?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:38 AM on 03/25/2008

"They" did not ship any jobs.' Will you work for $10 a day? NO? Then shut da hell up.

America's industrial base helped pull America through the "great" depression. The "fed" usurped the ability to print our money and printed it up 24/7. They made loans (with money from nothing) on margin (can be called up at any time & must be paid off in 24 hrs or face forclosure). Once the dollar was shakey, they called in the loans, causing a run on the banks which combined with the devalued dollar caused the "great" depression. They then took dollars out of the economy making money harder to find. The "fed" was able to buy up businesses, properties, etc at pennies on the dollar.

The question is what will the world do about this new and particularly brutal actions by the Chinese government. The first thing that should happen is that the Olympic Games should be canceled. THose events are reserved for nations who support human rights. China is as of now in violation of basic international human rights and should not be rewarded with the Olympic Games.
