WASHINGTON — Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, once so eager to debate she ran two ads questioning why her rival wouldn't, has yet to say whether she'll debate Sen. Barack Obama in North Carolina next month.

Both presidential candidates plan to participate in an ABC News debate on April 16 in Philadelphia. Pennsylvania holds it primary days later, on April 22. Obama also has agreed to a debate April 19 hosted by CBS in North Carolina. North Carolina holds its primary May 6.

Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson said Monday that the campaign has not made a decision about the CBS debate and is still working through the details.

"I am quite confident that there will be additional debates and that we will work with networks and the Obama campaign to figure out the appropriate location and venue and media outlet," Wolfson told reporters on a conference call.

Clinton ran a statewide television ad in Wisconsin prior to its Feb. 19 primary challenging Obama to debate there as she struggled to regain momentum after his string of victories in February.

The Clinton ad said, "Barack Obama still won't agree to debate in Wisconsin. ... Why won't Barack Obama debate these differences? Wisconsin deserves better."

The contenders have debated 20 times during the presidential campaign. Their last meetings were in Texas on Feb. 21 and Ohio on Feb. 26 ahead of those states' primaries on March 4. Clinton won both contests.

If Obama agrees to a revote in Michigan and Florida then Hillary should by all means debate. Fair is fair.

See, in Michigan, 7% of democrats voted in the Republican primary, as did 25% of Independents, since, you know, the Democratic primary wouldn't count. But, these people are not allowed to vote in a re-vote. This is really what killed the idea of a re-vote in MI -- the legislature could not come up with a solution to this. They do not know how to keep from alienating these voters.

If Sen. Clinton doesn't agree to a debate, isn't she responsible for keeping Katie Couric as the onbly anchor not "getting" to moderate? I'm wondering if that's a positive or a negative??

Let us STOP all the bickering among ourselves. Though I support Barack Obama for POTUS, I hereby give notice that I refuse, flatly REFUSE to be used as a pawn against my own well-being by the divisive cable TV news shows. I refuse to be prodded and provoked and whipped up into a frenzy by their joyful instigations to manipulate me and you into "snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory!" Let us STOP playing their game. Let us STOP THIS HURTFUL IN-FIGHTING. Let Obama and HRC turn away from battle with each other and turn to face battle with John McBush. Let them "LET THE CHIPS FALL WHERE THEY MAY" concerning their contest. IT IS WHAT IT IS! Let us all who truly perceive what is at stake here bury our primary campaign hammers and unite against the REAL ENEMY, The Corporate Status of Republica. I hereby REFUSE to continue the divisive rhetoric against my candidate's rival of the same party, Hillary Rodham Clinton. Obama supporters: IF YOU CAN'T SAY ANYTHING NICE ABOUT HILLARY, SAY IT ABOUT McBUSH INSTEAD! Hillary people: IF YOU CAN'T SAY ANYTHING NICE ABOUT OBAMA, SAY IT ABOUT MCBOMB INSTEAD. United we stand! Divided we fall. C.mon let's roll....

Clinton will not release her tax returns by then and does not want to explain why. She does not want to explain her frequent lies on Bosnia, Northern Ireland, NAFTA, Africa trip and SCHIP. She does not want to explain her Iraq war vote again. She wants to avoid questions about donations to Bill's library. I would not want to debate either if I had so much baggage before a primary I should easily win.

No, she was ducking all those sniper bullets in Bosnia, so the first questions should not be a problem as long as she runs for cover and keeps her head down.

I've realized it's as pointless trying to sway a Hillary supporter as it is turning a Barack supporter. This election has become more about Hillbots vs. Obamaniacs than it has about the issues or the candidates themselves. People have attached so much of themselves to whomever they're backing and likely will never back down no matter what. No. Matter. What.

Is she starting to fear that she will not have the predicted blow-out in Pennsylvania and would not like to answer questions about that scenario before the North Carolina primary?
