At a time when the GOP presidential nominee will need more assistance than ever, a number of state Republican parties are struggling through troubled times, suffering from internal strife, poor fundraising, onerous debt, scandal or voting trends that are conspiring to relegate the local branches of the party to near-irrelevance.

In some of the largest, smallest, reddest and bluest states in the nation, many state Republican organizations are still reeling in the aftermath of the devastating 2006 election cycle, raising questions about how much grassroots help the state parties will be able to deliver to presumptive GOP nominee John McCain.

There is way too much focus solely on who will be the Presidential nominee. It's almost certainly be Obama. Fine. Neither Obama or Clinton were my first, second or third choice, but it's over. Move on. If we want any Democratic President to be able to do something after the election, we need to focus on replacing conservative senators, representatives and state legislators with progressive/liberal ones. That's as important as electing a new president. It's good that the Republican state parties are weak. Therefore, let's pour even more resources into Howard Dean's successful 50-state strategy that helped give Democrats a Congressional majority in 2006.

Never, NEVER underestimate these lunatics. Either Obama or Clinton would be 10 times better than 4 more years of THIS bullshit.

That's a shame, it really is, too bad, so sad.

Too bad the general election isn't going to be Virginia's George Allen vs. Obama. Then the "Macaca Man" could show the world what the Repugnicants stand for.

And its not like Mccain is bringing any kinda energy to the national republican party. His fund raising was a joke. Bush destroyed the GOP (the only good thing he's done for us)...

Low ball the expectations. Standard operating procedure for the GOP. If things are so bad how come half the electorate says in polls they'll vote for McCain?

I suppose there's a good Mark Knopfler joke in there somewhere. But in truth, the Republicans are becoming almost too pathetic to mock. Almost.

With the Dem party is splitting apart becasue of Clinton and Obama, how much problem will the GOP really have in the general election? I am not sure how much the GOP needs to worry with the hate between the Dems supporting Obama and the Dems supproting Clinton. If the campaign parties keep it up we might have Three major parties in the future. I think the Clinton supproters will NOT support Obama is he gets the nomination and the Obama supporters will NOT support Clinton if she can get nominated. So the GOP will have an easier time in the general election.

Waiting for me to die. If I don't get some water soon. I'll be dead and gone in the afternoon. Sorry eveyone. This new censorship policy of no second paragraph ruined this post. A Dire Straits lyric.
