INDIANAPOLIS — Chelsea Clinton had a quick retort Tuesday when asked whether her mother's credibility had been hurt during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

"Wow, you're the first person actually that's ever asked me that question in the, I don't know maybe, 70 college campuses I've now been to, and I do not think that is any of your business," Clinton said during a campaign visit for her mother, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton.

On Tuesday, the student journalist defended his decision to ask the question during in appearance on Dan Abrams' Verdict on MSNBC. He told Abrams that the question wasn't meant "to pry into their private life" but was more about demonstrating how Clinton had overcome a difficult experience. Abrams and the panel, which included HuffPost's own Rachel Sklar, talked about the difficulties reporters encounter in trying to question Chelsea Clinton.

Good for Chelsea!! It was a very insensitive question and it is no one's
business and never has been! As far as I am concerned it is sleezy
and bias reporting! The way this media has openly shown their
contempt for Hillary and playing favorite to Obama is so obvious that it
borders on shameful journalism! Thankfully, if I was in charge, so many
would be off the air....and that would be in good taste!! People have a
right to agree or disagree, but to do it in a hurtful, vindictive manner is not
journalism....there was a time one could believe them and respect them...
not now!!!! Hang in there Chelsea, you make any parent proud!!

Great response, Ms. Clinton. The media doesn't like it when you don't play along, however. Just ask Rush Limbaugh. But don't worry about Limbaugh. The Left wing media is here to tear you apart for maintaining your dignity. They hate your mother and they're out to get you too. Just ask Samantha Power.

She just not be a surrogate for her mother if she can't handle the tough questions. It was predictable that she would be asked that since the schedules were just released. A better answer would have been my mother is strong woman .....I support her decision.

But all the Clinton want to have it their way or not at all.

To Jackie:

It's true that Clinton lied to the grand jury about his sexual relations with Monica while in the white house. I agree with you on that a gazillion percent. Now... does Chelsea have an obligation to answer the question? Of course she doesn't. She doesn't live in the white house anymore.. remember?

It is nobody's business if an elected official is having an affair, democrat or republican. Politicians should be judged on how they run the country, not how they run their peckers.

Bush and his minions lied about the path to war in Iran. I don't see your outrage in it. Would you rather have Bush lied about the war which costs us billions of dollars and over a hundred thousand civilians dead (this includes not only americans but also iraqi civilians. Last time I checked, iraqi's are human beings too), or would you rather have Clinton lied and the only thing that died was the potential child in his semen?

In one sense you can't completely blame the Clinton's for feeling entitled, after years of their sycophants and apologists making excuses, and blowing them up out of proportion from day-one in the White House. They start to lose perspective.

Given today's culture, I would say that she was asked a legitimate question. Given her education and her much vaunted intellectual prowess, I would say she could have answered differently. Her answer sounded a bit arrogant.
I am not prepared to dump on her tho as I do not believe in the sins of mother (and father) visiting the children.

It was an inane question, and pertinent to nothing. Whether it's anyone's business is also beside the point.

(Having said that, it's worth mentioning...we as taxpayers probably paid for that famous cigar, as well as daddy's salary as he wanked his intern...but I digress.)

On the other hand, the fact that both of her parents are pathological liars about matters that have effected the lives and deaths of countless human beings is very definitely our business.

The sadder fact is that she was told to lie told, by her parents, when telling the story to 'her' audience.

The appearance of the Clintons is so regal and distasteful. Every Presidential candidate had sisters, brothers, daughters and grandmas. Only the Clinton would marshal them out - not to use the word of an excellent commentator on MSNBC.

No she has no right to be rude, no more than the questioner had the right to ask questions like these - that is if he did not want to probe the reason for Mrs. Clinton to stick by such a philanderer, and how robust she would be under similar pressure only of a national importance.

Senator Clinton's candidacy is reveling in controversy of the Clinton's own making, and problems of their own design. The best they can do, for the sake those who believed the President once is: get off our backs. Go somewhere else.

Unfortunately questions like this are going to continue to come up, so the Clintons better figure out a way to address them.

But honestly who asks a young woman how credible her mother was due to the behavior of the father?

And isn't it interesting that after spending $66 million (that's $66 million of OUR tax dollars, Commander) that the only thing the neocons could come up with was that a man lied about having an affair. (While he was wrong to have the affair, I'd question how many men on this site could pass such a test if they were placed in the same situation.)

Commander, how is it that all that investigation by all those people who hated them so much, that's all they could find? And yet, you still claim they have to be guilty of something.

Maybe you just can't let go of the fact that for years the neocons have hated two people for little of nothing.

"pathological liars about matters that have effected the lives and deaths of countless human beings is very definitely our business."

Yes indeed. Perhaps we should stay focused on the *other* pathological liars of the "Gang of Pedophiles" and the actual lives they hold responsibility for taking these past seven and a half years-from-Hell? Lessee, war for oil and empire launched and sustained by over 900+ documented lies about WMDs and spurious connections between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda, 4,000 dead US military personnel, tens of thousands more wounded, 80-100,000 estimated Iraqi dead - including children, God-only-Knows how many wounded - including children, a deficit that will take a generation to pay off, foreign debt to China, a foreclosure epidemic, over seventy GOP lyalists and elected officials *convicted* of sex crimes against *children:*

Yeah, real "family values party" opposite the Clintons.

At least all Billy Goat did was lie about cheating on his wife (I *do* sincerely hope Hillary punched his lights out); the lies of the Busheviks have cost nothing but blood, misery, and our nation's wealth for the egos of a few aging corporate robber barons.

Let us try and maintain some kind of perspective, Commander.

Well Mattie, it wasn't an Obama supporter's question. It was a Hillary supporter.

Evan Strange, a Butler University student, told CBS he is a supporter of Hillary Clinton, and meant no harm with his question about the infamous White House scandal.

It sounds to me like you are the one name calling and spreading hate Mattie.

uhh, first of all, the dude was a clintonista, and i emphasize the word "was," cuz after getting told to stfu for all youtube eternity, i'm guessing he'll reconsider his support for shillary. more importantly, though, why is it that so many hillary supporters call for the public "belittling" of the queen's numerous offenders? what's so attractive and satisfying about humiliating someone? it reminds me of shillary in ohio making a pompous ass of herself while she "shamed" obama for sending out fliers that turned out to be 100 percent true (she was a major shill for nafta during bubba's tenure). then yesterday and today, her majesty decides that in order to change the subject from her fanciful "recollections" of her past derring-do amongst the snipers of bosnia, she sanctimoniously tried to shame obama for his choice of churches. what's she running for, den mother?

Speaking as an ARDENT Obama supporter I think you're completely wrong. First, what's this got to do with Obama? Enough of the petty one-upsmanship. Second, she handled that question perfectly. It IS none of their business. I wish more people would answer these questions like that. Sometimes, some things simply AREN'T anyone's business. More power to people who have the gumption to state it so plainly.

This might be a good time to remind you that Nader is running for President. Clinton and Obama are actually awfully close on most issues unfortunately, and both have shown themselves to not be progressives. The talk of change is just smoke and mirrors. How can anyone run against the status quo and gather over 100 million dollars---most of which came from wealthy donors and corporations? The Democratic Primary has turned into a beauty contest, and let's face it, both of the candidates look pretty ugly. Nader's life has been an open book. He has lived by his principles for over 40 yrs. You know exactly where he stands.

Although I don't intend to vote for Clinton, I think that dragging her daughter through pig do-do is pretty low. That's the same thing that Rush Limbaugh did when she was 12 years old and he held up a picture of her and said this is the White House dog. It's a shame to Obama's supporters acting like Rush. If anyone has earned the right to remind people to mind their own business, it is Chelsea Clinton. Her feelings about her fathers affair is a private matter indeed.

Chelsea went to all those top schools and don't know how to evade a simple questions she found offensive? Look at Obama when he was on the tyra banks show, when tyra asked him all sorts of stupid childish questions, Obama answered each and every one of them with grace and charm, not to mention invoked his work and put something out there for voters to hold on too. Chelsea that is what you were suppose to do, use every and any opportunity to invoke your mother's good works, not shut people off and shut them down, that is stepping on the heads of voters you expect to put your mom in office. Use your knowledge, education and charm, if any ,to draw people in, never mind I don't like your mother because I think she will go to all stops to be in the white house, but for the time you being out there, you must answer questions whether you like them or not, you are an educated adult. When you told the guy it was none of his business, that's like inviting someone to dinner at your house and then don't want to talk to them or entertain them, that's why people love Obama, he can talk his way out of anything and with grace and charm, pull a leaf out of Obama's book Chelsea, or go off and hide.

Placating people to get them to like you is not particularly always admirable for a leader. Sometimes that is a sign of weakness if overplayed and a sign that the person is afraid to show strength if it might offend others when strength is the most appropirate response. Today, Chelsea responded in a way that affirmed her boundaries to someone who does not understand boundaries. There may be a time when Obama has to do the same and if and when he does, I will support him telling a questioner when it is none of the questioner's business. He needs to know when shutting someone down is the right decision.

Chelsea, you need to obtain more charm and grace when you're out on the campaign trail, you put yourself out there and of course you must expect questions from all types of people and from all different types of minds. You must approach these difficult questions with better communication skills, and not act like you are better than anyone else, you will be expected to be faced with tough questions and sometimes you must present yourself with an approachable personality, you cant however act like you are so high and mighty and only certain questions you will answer. That is what going out on the campaign trail means, you will meet all types of people, but you then have to come up with the answers to every question to suit what you are selling. Don't abuse your status to act snobbish. I think you were extremely snobbish and arrogant. Your mother on the other hand is lying her way throughout this week, I don't know what is wrong with her, is she delusional or something? first she said she visited Bosnia and had to come off the plane with her head down and running for cover, then she said the little girl was a covert, Hilary was surrounded by hundreds of soldiers, why would they put a covert to talk to Hilary and kiss her, if not for the footage the voters would've believed her, Hilary don't know when she is telling a lie. God help her
