Caught On Film: Hillary Talks To Architect Of Vast Right Wing Conspiracy

As you know, earlier today Hillary Clinton tried to stoke the Jeremiah Wright controversy by telling an editorial board meeting in Pittsburgh that Jeremiah Wright "would not have been my pastor" and then going on to note that she had denounced Don Imus in contrast to Obama's allegedly more tolerant attitude toward hate speech....

Now obviously, Hillary's been in the political big leagues for a while. She knows how to deflect a question. But it's actually much richer than this. This afternoon Greg Sargent and I were talking this over and one of us realized that this wasn't just any Pittsburgh paper. It was the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, the money-losing, vanity, fringe sheet of Richard Mellon Scaife, funder of the Arkansas Project, the American Spectator during its prime Clinton-hunting years and virtually every right-wing operation of note at one point or another over the last twenty years or more.

A few short months ago, I notice a small story in Time or Newsweek that run a picture of BILL CLINTON enjoying a visit from RICHARD MELLON SCAIFE. Apparently the two had pleasant walk, enjoyed lunch and BILL pocketed a HUGE DONATION to the CLINTON FOUNDATION.

Coincidence? No. Scaife has gone from the man who bankrolled Paula Jones' legal team (and got an $850,000 settlement), pursued the Whitewater investigation relentlessly, promoted the Vince Foster was murdered scenario (including encouraging Rep. Dan Burton to "re-enact" the "crime" in his Indiana backyard with pumpkins.)

Remember: Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Perhaps Hillary should just run for VP with McCain and spare us this misery. The woman can stoop lower than anyone I've ever seen.

Obama supporters relentlessly throw the scandals Scaife ran against the Clintons as genuine truths, now you're condemning the man who gave you your ammunition. So, you thank him by using the juicy crap he gave you out of one side of your mouth, and condemn him out of the other side.

the Clintons would be the last people who would have access to them..

The hallmark of fascism is that attitude of loyalty. It's ok to like a candidate, to prefer a candidate, but this election cycle has seen a major increase in the absolute loyalty factor. Hillary has Loyal followers, she could say the world was flat, and half her followers would believe. To be fair, Obama commands a lot of loyalty also, but I would say he has half the gravity Hillary does.
