Gore Convention

TCPalm:

U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney, whose district includes much of Martin and St. Lucie counties, is hoping he won't have to attend the Democratic Party national convention in Denver in August.

If he does go, that will mean the Democrats still haven't decided a nominee for the presidential election. And if neither Sen. Hillary Clinton nor Sen. Barack Obama has clinched the nomination by August, Mahoney says we may see a brokered convention, meaning the nominee could emerge from a negotiated settlement.

"If it (the nomination process) goes into the convention, don't be surprised if someone different is at the top of the ticket," Mahoney said.

I love Al Gore, but...HUH? Can you imagine what 40 million (by then) Democratic voters reaction would be, after this brutal campaign, to the DNC trotting out a man who's NOT IN THE RACE and saying, "here's your nominee"?!!? I can't imagine that the even Dems, who are trying SO HARD to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, could be that stupid. I am lifelong registered Dem, BTW!

Its so pathetic to see how Repugs always outsmart Dems. They set a trap in Fla and Michigan, and the Dems took the bait. At the beginning of the campaign we had all the odds in our hands. Now, we are about to loose a sure thing, and to McCan't of all people!
If Hellary keeps going with her fantasies and stays in the race, we will pay in November. If we blow our chances, I'll change my voter's registration. The officials at the Democrat party seem to be paralized. I have no idea what are they waiting for to put a stop to this charade.

This is so much B.S. Had Gore found the courage to enter the race, I would have supported him, along with a good chunk of other democrats. But the man has missed his chance. Besides, this is Obama's race, no matter how hard the media and Hillary tries to spin it otherwise. Obama is doing what Gore talked about, but didn't do -- which is to find a way to get the people involved.

The man has missed his chance?
I guess you haven't paid attention the last 8 years.
He's doing fine. And has managed to a lot more for the world during that time than ANY of our presidential candidates.
And trashing Al Gore will do nothing to get Obama elected. If you are in fact for Obama and not a trolling republican disguised as an Obama supporter. It's so hard to tell these days.

No need. Have you seen the latest polls?

The harder Hillary fights, the farther behind she falls.

Just like Pyrrhus of Epirus, with a few more victories like the the ones Hillary has racked up over the past few weeks, and she'll be ruined, utterly.

Uncle Al will NOT be the nominee. If he was, he would have to actually debate the man made global warming hoax, which up until now, he refuses to do. He would get smoked and he knows it.

Amen brother! Al's too busy counting his muti-millions from his carbon credit scam from the smucks to get involved in anything so trivial.

You heard it hear...Gore is NOT going to run!

Why the hell would he want to live through 2000 again? His life is good, he doesn't need the stress.

My thoughts exactly.
What I really resent is people slamming the guy because he's not endorsing their candidate.
It seems to me, Gore has done more good outside of the tawdry world of politics. Let him be.

Gore remains the most qualified "candidate" to be President, to restore the country's credibility and veritas in the world, to end the war in Iraq, and to begin repairing the damage to democratic institutions and constitutional rights at home. He is also the most qualified politician to lead the country and the world on the issue of global warming, an issue which has the potential to make all other issues moot, to put it mildly. A Gore/Obama ticket could break records for general election landslides and secure 16 years in the Whitehouse for the Democratic Party.

I will not support that ticket. I sent my donations to support Obama for president not Gore.

Would you support a Gore/Obama ticket instead of a Hillary/______ ticket?

The following is excerpted from the Treasure Coast Palm

"As an uncommitted superdelegate, Mahoney said he has been wooed by Clinton and Obama for an endorsement. Clinton has been the more aggressive solicitor, Mahoney said.

Mahoney said he has met twice with Obama. He has met more often with Clinton. Two weeks ago, Mahoney attended a cocktail party at Clinton’s house in Washington, D.C., he said. Mahoney told of how impressed he is by Clinton’s commitment to helping people and her human touch. When Clinton learned that Mahoney’s daughter is interested in horses, she called the girl to encourage her interest, Mahoney said.

Mahoney hasn’t committed to either contender, he clearly likes Clinton and her stance on issues. He praised her for having a grasp of matters of importance to Floridians, especially homeowners insurance reform. (Sen. John McCain, the apparent Republican presidential nominee, is the only candidate in either party not to support national reform of homeowners insurance.)

Mahoney described Clinton as being “incredibly bright, very personable” and having “an unbelievable grasp of policy” during his meetings with her.

Mahoney said he had intended to skip the convention because “I have better things to do in my district” than attend what recently has become a glorified pep rally. He will stay away if his superdelegate vote isn’t needed. Meanwhile, he’s lobbying to get the results of the Jan. 29 Florida primary vote to count.

Doesn't sound like Tim Mahoney is very undecided to me.

Trial balloon?

At this point, I'd rather have Obama at the head of the ticket. I like the idea of a new direction.

Gore Obama is more like it. Edwards didn't help Kerry in the GE (maybe nothing could have) and I don't think he would help Gore. He's a good democrat, unlike The Clintons, but he's a Johnny-one-note with the populist patter which isn't likely to win over any repubs or indies.

Al Gore is an important Democrat, but he has showed us he does not have the fire to be President.
