Tonya Harding

ABC's Political Punch:

l just spoke with a Democratic Party official, who asked for anonymity so as to speak candidly, who said we in the media are all missing the point of this Democratic fight....

"Her securing the nomination is certainly possible - but it will require exercising the 'Tonya Harding option.'" the official said. "Is that really what we Democrats want?"

Tonya is an angel compared to Hillary. All she wanted was a gold medal, not to be the most powerful person in the world with the ability to use the unchecked power the Bush regime has accumulated because of the failure of the US system to preserve the rule of law against the onslaught of this regime. Actually, Hillary personifies the Bush wing of the Democratic party.
Hillary parallels Tonya; her advisors such as Mark Penn and Wolfson act similarly to Tonya's boyfriends, but in Tonya's case, it was more likely the tweaker boyfriends influencing her as much as her influencing the tweaker boyfriends. It will be interesting to see how this dynamic plays out in later Hillary memoirs. By the way, after the exposure of Hillary's serial lying about Tuzla, Nafta and other issues, it is less likely that she can "run the table" in the remaining primaries. To further insure that this dire scenario does not occur it is time that key superdelegates, such as McGovern, who is beginning to indicate his dissatisfaction in coded statements, jump ship and defend decency by changing over to Obama. It's also time for key Hillary money donors, whose record in the past has been fairly good, like Barbra Steisand and "meathead" Reiner, to change over. This would also send a message that the good of the party was more important than destructive ambition.

Tonya Harding.

Hmmm, I wonder why he would use that reference?

Look, some of you have no reference in History that hasn't been spoon fed to you by hyper headlines and spinning.

If you think this race with HIllary is tough for Obama, he better get out now. This is nothing compared to what will happen against the Republicans. I have been saying this for some time now. You don't understand because you are not paying attention to campaign History.

Funny, you chide us for being spoonfed from headlines and then link what? Oh, look, it's a headline!

Yes, you have been saying this for some time now, in complete denial of the fact that Obama has maintained a lead in all aspects of this race for months, in the face of Hillary's best (or worst, depending on your POV) efforts to stop him. It's quite a feat of creative logic to turn that into a strike against him.

Since Obama first announced his candidacy, people have been saying he'd fall apart. First that he was a fad, then that he wouldn't make it past Super Tuesday, then that he wouldn't be able to handle the media scrutiny of bring frontrunner, then that he wouldn't be able to take on the Clinton political machine.

All wrong.

And now the line is he won't be able to take on McCain (despite leading or drawing even with McCain in national polls, before he's even turned his focus to the general campaign.)

Not surprising that your argument isn't finding much traction. But I guess you can't blame a hater for tryin'.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:12 PM on 03/26/2008

I think you are wrong there. Well, let me just say that McCain made it clear that he is not going dirty. If you are speaking of other Republicans/Right-Wing media you might be right, but one thing that will happen should a major miracle happen and Obama gets the nomination any attack from the Right will be race baited and labeled as racism. That is why only a lib can attack a lib.

I agree that you are wrong. If you have nothing to hide why should you fear the truth???

A lot has been said about the Bush-Clinton years...ie too many of them and a need for change. But I'm wondering if there isn't a closer link between the families than even we've realized.

Alas Hilliary is more like Barbara Bush than a direct descendant would be. I mean she's mean, and seriously vengeful. Obama has not only dared to run against Hillary he has dared to win over her and to her he must be destroyed.

Doesn't this remind us of the way GW has governed..in both foreign policy and domestic. I'm remembering the stories of how he was the hatchet man for his Dad's presidency...actually liked doing the firings of people that had to go. Well, our dear Hillary was the hatchet person for her husband when women came out to say they had been molested by or had affairs with her husband. She led the fight to have their reputations destroyed.

Oh happy days. If we get Hillary, GW might as well stay in the job and answer the phone at 3AM. We'll get the same answer if Hillary picks up the phone.

God help us.

That being the case, Clinton would have a lot in common with Bush, he having stole the presidency.

My one true hope is that Hillary and Bill and up as disgraced as Tonya Harding and Jeff Gillooly. They deserve it based on their overreaching ambition and slimy tactics. Hillary and Bill are now both officially LIARS. I just can't understand why the Democratic Leadership sits silent on this while the Clintons destroy the Democratic Party. I wonder if they are afraid that James Carville will call them names.

If Clinton steals the nomination, the Democratic Party will implode. In four years time, the party will re-emerge as something new. This will be similar to the Jackson Revolt which ended the Whig Party and started the Democratic Party.

I agree, but it is very risky because you'd be giving the Republican Party another four year chance to turn this country into a fascist state. The Democrats have had a very uphill battle these past eight years, and do you think a new party could do better in 2012? I think the chances would get slimmer, not greater. The Democratic Party needs to solve its civil war this year, 2008, and let the DLC go off and form its own party with the Clintons. Four more years of Republicans would make it inevitable that the only chance to throw off the yoke would not be a new party but a second American revolution.

I think it is the reporters who want this to be over. Voters have other ideas.

God forbid that we should let the people in the remaining states exercise their rights to make a choice.

I am an Oregonian who wants to vote, but Clinton cannot be allowed to run the filthy Rovian campaign she is running which will destroy the party as well as Obama.

As much as I want to vote for Barack here in NC in an election that matters, I am willing to forgo that opportunity if it means we shut down this intra-party blood bath that won't change the outcome one bit and start going after John McInsane!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:26 PM on 03/26/2008

You have this wrong. Voting for Hillary in NC will encourage her to stay in the race that the math shows she cannot possibly win and therefore she will keep up the attacks against the candidate that CAN win.

Hillary Clinton's negatives are too high and the Republicans just need to nudge them a bit for McCain to win. WHY ELSE DO YOU THINK RUSH LIMBAUGH IS ENCOURAGING REPUBLICANS TO SWITCH TO DEMS TO VOTE FOR HILLARY IN THE PRIMARIES?
They want to run against Hillary Clinton!

Hillary with her lies on Bosnia has made herself unelectable. Can't you see the political commercial now? They play Hillary's claiming she was under sniper fire while showing her calmly greeting a little girl. Then they tell you John McCain doesn't have to lie about his experience, he actually has it.

Toast!!

I love the holier than thou attitude of OBama supporters. They act as if they care about the Dem. Party, which couldn't be farther from the truth. If it was true they would be cheering for voters in FL and MI to have there voices heard. The ONLY reason they want it over is because there candidate is in the lead. If the script was flipped, they would be screaming for the votes in FL and MI to be counted and they would be cheering for Obama to continue to campaign. I don't mind people who support another candidate, but what I hate is the hypocrisy.

Ahhh, please don't do that..vote for the canadidate of your choice. The more people who vote for him, the sooner the campaign will end and HRC will be history. I hope they boot her and Bill out of the Dem. party after this. Their actions have been discraceful. I don't think she cares at this point about the party or the country as long as she wins the campaign then looses to McCain in Nov. She can then say she won the nomination. She's not going to win in 2012 either as she will be too considered too old by most people. Remember, men are considered wise, women, old at that age. Woman's perspective.

What you don't understand is that at your point your votes don't matter. It is all up to the superdelegates, so dragging this out serves no one. You will be allowed to vote for HRC even if the superdelegates step up and give BHO 50 more delegates.

I'm in one of those states (Oregon) and I'm ready for it to be over. I know my vote won't matter. I know my candidate will win this state by double digits. I also know that the delegates he secures as a result of this won't matter because the nomination is in the hands of the superdelegates.

I also know that should they nominate Hillary, that my vote most likely will not count again (I would vote for McCain at that point, and I am in a state that is resoundingly blue). But I do know that votes of millions of others that went from Obama to McCain or Democrat-to-McCain, as well as non-votes as a result of that type of election thievery, will matter.

The reporters want this over? You are kidding me. They eat this up like candy. They would love to see this go to the convention. The ratings on news channels (sans Fox) has never been higher. It is a "God forbid" moment that this should be played out, because the only winner would not be HRC or OHB it would be McCain. If you can stomach 4 more years of Repub then that is fine. Or by the way this has played out - you must want to see HRC in this again in 2012.

Hillary Clinton has fashioned some sort of political doomsday machine ala Dr. Stangelove which will destroy any chance of Democratic victory if she does not receive the nomination she believes she’s entitled to, regardless of the will of the people.

The destruction has begun and she, I must admit, has not excluded herself from the effects of this device. She’s going down and taking everyone with her.

Rupert Murdoch must believe that his $4,000.00+ campaign contribution is paying dividends.

The Clintons are despicable there is nothing else I can say ... the more she is in the race the more I am reminded of all the lies, games, and political intrigue and scandals. They really do not care about the Democrats winning what she is counting on is the short historical memory of the American people
They will destroy the Democratic party in order for Clinton to win in 2012 ...
They have never cared about anyone, or anything or any principal except for their own power ...
Sometimes I remain optimistic that Obama will win, on some days I feel almost a sense of despondence then anger then rage ... I see my own children and the young people I teach involved in the system with a sense of civic engagement ... I see my own cynicism from politics as usual transformed for the first time in a long time I feel a sense of possibility and of a future ---
It is hard to look at her face without a sense of nausea emerging ... and when her voice comes on I cringe in horror and disgust ...

I don't believe one word of the article Jake Tapper has just written. He can say anything under the guise of anonymity. If you have the guts to write it, at least source it with the person's name...otherwise, I'll think you're lying. Howard Dean AND whomever uttered this nonsense should both lose their jobs.
