Hillary's Approval Rating Plummets In NBC/WSJ Poll

As expected, one of the two major Democratic candidates saw a downturn in the latest NBC/WSJ poll, but it's not the candidate that you think. Hillary Clinton is sporting the lowest personal ratings of the campaign. Moreover, her 37% positive rating is the lowest the NBC/WSJ poll has recorded since March 2001, two months after she was elected to the U.S. Senate from New York.

The poll was conducted Monday and Tuesday this week by Hart-McInturff and surveyed 700 registered voters, which gives the poll a margin of error of +/- 3.7%. In addition, we oversampled African-Americans in order to get a more reliable cross-tab on many of the questions we asked in this poll regarding Sen. Barack Obama's speech on race and overall response to last week's Rev. Jeremiah Wright dustup.

As a white man, I have as much genuine feeling and emotion for older feminists who had to grow up, and try and work and live in a misogynistic society, as I do for those African-Americans of Rev. Wright's generation who had to deal with outright bigotry.

Personally, I have been wondering how long it would take for Sen Clinton's numbers to start tanking, and mystified that they hadn't, up till now.
With all the vileness of the Clinton campaign, and it's Tonya Harding, kneecaping strategy, I was beginning to view her supporters as being anti-matter clones of W.'s, (you know the 29% undying support for him, that would continue even if he was found with a dead 10 year old boy impaled on his manhood.)
Sen. Clinton's 46% who will seemingly support her, no matter to what lengths she goes to abort this new fetus of a democratic party, before it is born, are the W. supporters ideological twin opposites. Is there anything Sen. Clinton can say, or do, to lose their support?
Like W.'s supporters it seems that at least 28% of them, (according to the latest polls), will support her even if it means losing the election, -by voting for McCain, -and having a 7-2, right-wing, Supreme Court, for the next two decades.
Her large campaign donors have sent a threatening letter to Speaker Pelosi, asking her to back off her statements that PLEDGED delegates must support the will of the people who elected them, or expect their donations to dry up! Pledged delegates it would seem, should feel free to disenfranchise those who voted for them! But, oh those poor voters in Michigan and Florida... Disenfranchise the whole country, but not them! I find it very, very interesting that no African American here in Philadelphia has been polled!! I listen to the only radio station here in Philly that "most" if not "all" of Philly's Blacks listen to -- they are ALL saying that they have never been polled for Pennsylvania's so-called polls -- nor have I !! In fact, I've never been polled for any election! So, when we speak of who's zooming who, remember millions of people of color have not been represented fairly in this country's games!

Be careful of HRM/HRC "black bias" talking points on this which conflate statistical technique of "overweighting" smaller groups-- to assure accurate representation/large enough sample size-- with "over valuing" which is NOT done. Be careful about swallowing all that they dish out, as you may end up with indigestion or worse.

Polls are samples and probability estimates that AT BEST try to PREDICT public opinion, using scientific techniques that are well-established though never portend to be 100% accurate. When different surveys by different pollsters tell the same story, you can be more and more confident about results. Sadly, the twisted Clinton camp appears about as anti-science and delusional as Bush et al. Yet another reason to end her campaign and disqualify her executive leadership potential.

March 27, 2008 - Independent Voters Give Obama Huge Connecticut Lead, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds; Clinton By A Nose Over McCain

With strong support from young and independent voters, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama leads Arizona Sen. John McCain 52 - 35 percent in Connecticut, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. These same voters do not give New York Sen. Hillary Clinton as much support in her 45 - 42 percent lead over Sen. McCain.

“Sen. Barack Obama has argued that he is more electable than Sen. Hillary Clinton because of his appeal to independent voters. And in Connecticut that is what we are finding,” said poll director Douglas Schwartz.

More useless polls. This one doesn't even tell us what the composition of the polled population is, so how are we to judge its relevance and accuracy.

Quinnipiac did a similar poll in NY, and the results are the EXACT OPPOSIT.

"Clinton tops Sen. McCain 50 - 40 percent, while Obama is ahead 49 - 38 percent."

I'd rather have NY then tiny little CT any day.

I would be saying what I have been saying all along. Pledged delegates, number of states won and popular vote do not nominate a Democratic candidate. You must have 2025 total delegates to win, period. Its not about who comes closest, it is who reaches the target.
