Hillary's Approval Rating Plummets In NBC/WSJ Poll

As expected, one of the two major Democratic candidates saw a downturn in the latest NBC/WSJ poll, but it's not the candidate that you think. Hillary Clinton is sporting the lowest personal ratings of the campaign. Moreover, her 37% positive rating is the lowest the NBC/WSJ poll has recorded since March 2001, two months after she was elected to the U.S. Senate from New York.

The poll was conducted Monday and Tuesday this week by Hart-McInturff and surveyed 700 registered voters, which gives the poll a margin of error of +/- 3.7%. In addition, we oversampled African-Americans in order to get a more reliable cross-tab on many of the questions we asked in this poll regarding Sen. Barack Obama's speech on race and overall response to last week's Rev. Jeremiah Wright dustup.

The sad part in all this is that we are wrecking one of our own candidates. I think we're doing a better job of it than the republicans. Another sad fact: Obama lied about not hearing the hate sermons and yet his press people and secret service people heard it and got no reply when the asked for a response to pastor Wright's hate sermons from the Obama headquarters. Instead they got the famous race speech the following day. But I doubt this will be posted. Senator Obama has not only addressed the "hate sermons" on numerous occasions, but those who have bothered to look at the entire sermon recognize that it was not hateful; and there is no need for Senator Obama to address it further. Who is the "they" who want Senator Obama to win the democratic slot because "they" know he cannot win the general election? The majority of Democrats who support him? The Democratic Party leadership? The majority of people want their vote to count, it's close and there are still more states to go. A recent poll said the 22% want Hillary to drop out and another 22% want Obama to drop out and the rest want the race to continue. Don't suppress the vote.

CIvil wars eventually wear out, and it may be that more and more Americans are simply tired of the depth of division in America. How many families have been split over Bush? How many times do we have to feel out an audience or an acquaintence to see which side they are on?

There will always be camps and arguments/preferences/deeply held beliefs, but the degree of division promoted by the likes of Hannity, Rush, Clintons, and Farrakan hurt the country, and should be challenged as hurtful and not patriotic.. Imagine what a much more unified UNITED States could do and be, and how much has been pissed away in division.

So if Bill Clinton wants to "Saddle Up," and Hillary wants Gun Fight at the DNP Corral, they should just ride into the sunset.

Obama still draws more independents than Clinton and McCain and this at the height of the Wright controversy.

Bill Clinton had very similar issues at this part of his campaign where he was behind both Bush and Poirot. It's ironic that Bill is questioning Barack's patriotism just like the right wing hate machine questioned his for draft dodging. The fact that Obama has faced this controversy head on is a testament to his character and most people appreciate that.
