Lewinsky Questioner: I Was Surprised By Chelsea's Response

The college student who appeared to upset Chelsea Clinton with a question on the Monica Lewinsky scandal said Wednesday he was merely giving the former first daughter an opportunity to show how strong her mother is.

Evan Strange, a Butler University student, told CBS he is a supporter of Hillary Clinton, and meant no harm with his question about the infamous White House scandal.

When asked in a recent interview about the neverending American casualties in Iraq, Cheney replied to the effect, “So? They volunteered.” Callous and arrogant.
When Chelsea, who loves her parents and goes out on the stump for them, is harassed about long-ago personal issues of her parents, Obama partisans reply to the effect, “So? She volunteered. Fair game.” Same callousness and same arrogance.
I have seen all my favorite progressive blogs overwhelmed by merciless Obama partisans who distort and disparage every single movement and utterance of Hillary Clinton. Every headline about her is given a negative slant. This is the tactic used by the neocons: shout out discourse with a raucous cacophony of phony issues. If Obama supporters really believe that Obama is ahead and that his character is superior, then take the high road. Save your vitriol and invective for the neocons who are really ruining our country.

I have been a huge critic of the Clintons on a lot of things, but, here, I thought Chesea hit this one out of the park. It is time for candidates and their families to take a stand that their personal life, for the most part, is off limits to the public and the press.

Chelsea Clinton has been a huge asset for HRC's campaign, so, naturally, in yet another sign of the Clinton campaign's ineptitude, she has been relegated to the college crowd and only gains notice when some silly controversy like this comes up. Also, who came up with the doofus idea that she won't talk to the press? She's intelligent, articulate, forceful and can make a point without sounding like a pompous, divisive jerk, which separates her from most of the HRC surrogates, including the former president.

I am an Obama supporter but agree with this post and salute Chelsea's answer (though I do wish she would start taking questions from the press).

However, it is ironic that this happened on the same day that surrogate-in-chief Bill Clinton argued that "we should saddle up,.. have a fight... and let people say whatever they want "(paraphrase).

Chelsea Clinton handled this question as it should have been handled. The questioner needs to get some common sense. And Chelsea put on notice anyone else who would pull the same stunt regardless of whether or not they support her mother.

Since this jerk claimed the reason he asked that question about how Hillary handled the Monica thing was to see how "strong" she was, then I wonder if Bill instead of Chelsea had been speaking before that group of students, if he would have asked the same question? I think not. I wish someone would bring that up on one of these t.v. talk shows!

What I think that Ms. Chelsea needs to know that it IS our business since her father chose to have his affair in the house WE pay for. That is OUR house run with OUR money so it is OUR business what happens there. So just in case he has not lost his appetite for young interns, we will NOT invite him and his wife BACK. What people seem to forget is that the Lewinsky-Clinton sex took place in the People's House...the White House. This was not on his own time in his own place. This was on OUR time in OUR house in the most important office in our land. That makes it OUR business. I admire Chelsea, but she needs to understand that what goes on in their home, their car, or their plane is THEIR business. But what goes on in the White House is OURS.

Her father was Impeached for lying about that very thing, so I fail to understand how that is A) not national business and fair game B) not considered to impact Hillary's credibility in that she first blamed it on a "Vast right wing Conspiracy" while having full knowledge of her husbands proclivities.
