Lou Dobbs Commerical

The Huffington Post has obtained a new commercial for the Fox Searchlight/Weinstein picture, "Under the Same Moon (La Misma Luna)," a Spanish language film that debuted last week to a box office record.

The commercial, which will premiere tomorrow, features several digs at CNN's anti-immigrant crusader Lou Dobbs, such as, "TIME Magazine raves that 'Adrian Alonso could melt Lou Dobbs' heart, if he had one.'"

Watch the commercial below:

In an ironic twist, the commercial is set to air on CNN tomorrow in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.

Uh, how many people here calling it propaganda have actually seen the film? Yeah. Exactly.

Yeah...Mexico has their own little propaganda factory...sad piece of business, US/Mexico relations over the years, it could be easily fixed by coming up with an ironclad border treaty with Mexico, reinforce La Linea with common agreement on both sides of it to mutually maintain it, instead there's all these greasy labor things, and trade deals, and and and, and the only way to help Mexico get up on their own 2 feet is probably just to CLOSE the border completely for about a year, then send help south, should they end up needing it.

The biggest problem Mexico has is that they need better infrastructure. But, Mexico has their very own concrete company, their own oil company, even, and they've got engineers and designers and technicians and many hands to make light work, buuuuut...somewhere in there, the old spark of independence just hasn't quite jumped, yet, I've met some great people from Mexico and other spanish-speaking countries, but 'border' is a word that needs to be illustrated in plain english, I think.

Calm down realitytrumps ... I think the point is to get back at Lou Dobbs and the influence he has. Have you ever watched him? He starts to show his teeth like a wolf when he talks about Mexican people. They're basically telling him they're going to fight back. The other point is that folks are generally wanting to show that we are all connected, in suffering and in good. Arghh ... humanity rearing its ugly head again.

But get this...he is actually married to a Hispanic woman.... I wonder how he treats her?

That's because other industrialised countries have FREE higher education. Don't blame the student either. Americorporation is all in profits now. Could care less who is falling in the cracks. Just as long as it doesn't bother the money holding elitists, that's the way the ball bounces.

I agree! The individual is of no importance, but the corporation is paramount to any social experimentation. The bottom line is the bottom line.

Yes, but that has nothing to do with Lou Dobbs and the open border with Mexico.
We are not getting software engineers from Mexico.

We are getting unskilled, uneducated labor, many of whom are muling drugs for the cartels over the border with Mexico.

Unless the issue is approached with some kind of clarity,
the problem will never be solved and the cartels will continue
to make obscene amounts of money sufficient to purchase
every law enforcement agency between Nogales and Seattle.

This is not about the poor campesino who needs money for his daughter's
heart surgery.

It's about drugs and drug addiction.

Wrong. Drug cartels don't use undocumented immigrants to carry drugs. Why would they? Immigrants have a 50/50 chance of capture every time they cross the border. There is no way that drug cartels are going to take a chance on an illegal moving their drugs for them.

Most drugs are either flown into this country or brought in by average looking Americans who either need the money or love the excitement of running drugs.

You apparently want to do something about the undocumented immigrant problem in this country. How about taking our frustrations out on the American companies who hire them. I have news for you. THEY WOULD NOT COME HERE IF THERE WERE NOT JOBS WAITING FOR THEM!

The HuffPost fails to note that the movie is funded by the Mexican government:

Which means it was really funded by the people who really, really
want the border kept open

the drug cartels. Which own the border and the Mexican government and the American
government along the border. OWNED!

It amazes me that people here discuss the plight of the poor immigrants
but do not connect it to the cartels.

What most AMAZING is the inability of "analysts"(?) like Blutus who can't/won't understand that as long as Mexico/Latin America have birth rates which exceed their GDP growth, they WON'T make econ./social progress. Of course, this rel., GDP>birth rate, must be maintained over one or more decades--not a quirky one-year reversal. If necessary some plan of land redistribution must be implemented to abet self-sustenance, but population control is singularly important!

The recent news piece stated that one in ten people in Ohio have to collect food stamps to survive! So go on and keep informing impoverished Americans just how noble and justified illegal immigrants are!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:13 AM on 03/27/2008

So, are you saying that somehow the undocumented workers are somehow responsible for one in ten people in Ohio having to collect food stamps? Because if that's what you are saying, you need to direct your ire to the companies that are hiring the undocumented workers. They would not come across the border unless they knew that a job was waiting for them.

I see the Huff Po is also open border and anybody speaking out against it has little chance of having their post approved. Obama and Huff Po sure believe in the freedom of speech, as long as it suits their idealogy. Obama couldn't stand up to Lou Dobbs and tucked his tail when called on a statement he made. Obama said he had "heard Lou Dobbs rant against immigrants". Lou Dobbs gave him and his supporters the opportunity to ever locate one transcript , one video to back up that blatant lie. Obama couldn't hear what was never said.

Don't blame Huffington Post or Obama blame the big corporations that out source our jobs to foreign countries, NAFTA and business that thinks it's okay to employ illegal aliens for less pay.

Your hateful post showed up just fine. HP does censor posts to make sure that nothing egregious is said, but they let people like you spew your hatred. I have watched Lou Dobbs a couple of times and each time I saw him and heard him rant against undocumented workers. He does it on a regular basis. So, what Obama said was true. It's also common knowledge that Lou Dobbs is anti immigrant (mainly Mexican) which is rather odd considering the fact that his wife is Mexican and his privileged children are half Mexican. I wonder what Mrs. Dobbs things of her husband?

So, is every bit of music on your mp3 player paid for? Ever downloaded or streamed a movie you didn't pay for? Is every piece of software on your computer paid for or do you have games or applications a friend might have given you?

If you people who espouse that the law is the law and breaking it makes you an illegal have ever so much as downloaded a single mp3 you did not pay for, you too are an illegal, should be put in prison or better yet, rounded up and shipped away. You are just as much of a drain on our nation as anyone else could be.

I'm not saying the illegal immigration problem doesn't need to be fixed. There is no sense in demonizing human beings for searching out a better life. They provide taxes when they pay for goods and services do they not? They earn money and then spend it, which helps keep the economy moving. Blaming the illegals for our ills is nothing more than a tactic created by political operatives to set an agenda and win elections. Mortgage lenders, bankers and big business men are criminals far more detrimental to our nation than an immigrants. When was the last time you heard about a single immigrant stealing the pensions of thousands of workers like Ken Lay did? Just spend a moment thinking about things instead of letting your emotions and that douchebag Lou Dobbs dictate what's important.

Get it together and stop the Lou Dobbs is anti-immigrant cr?p, this is a lie and a smear and you are being dishonest promoting this lie. The fact is that Lou has a problem with ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION just as I do. We have laws and obeying them is one of our obligations as citizens and visitors. People are leaving their countries because their governments don't give a damn about them. If we really cared, we'd take the leaders of these countries to task for human rights abuses and help them create a country that gave a damn about it's citizens. We have enough hungry and deprived people in our country that need help without having to help other governments with their people problems. When all Americans are fed, clothed and sheltered then we can worry about others. America First. Semper Fi

I keep saying. I want all illegalts to pay their federal taxes. State taxes if they live in a state that has a state income tax. In TN we have no income tax, but a higher sales tax. We definetly get some of the illegal wages that way. They do get medical free. We don't. It takes extra teachers to teach the english language. They are undocumented, so there is no way to check their income, so, free lunch at school and free food for the babies. We must enact extreme rules if they are to stay , to make them register to become citizens - otherwise all of the incentives are to stay illegal. This isn't about racism it's about resenting paying someone elses way, when they can afford to pay their own.

That's not their fault. Blame the companies hiring these people and not collecting taxes. It's up to the people paying them to take out the taxes. You cannot blame people for wanting a better life for their family.

Called "The High Cost of Cheap Labor," the study by the non-partisan Centers for Immigration Studies measured the impact of illegal immigration on the United States.

The labor of undocumented workers helps keep prices on many everyday items low. "If we had to pay 10 to 12 dollars an hour to pick tomatoes or lettuce, what would that do to the cost of living in California," said one advocate for illegal aliens.

Overall, however, the report found that undocumented immigrants are ultimately a drain on U.S. taxpayers. The study revealed that while illegal immigrants pay $16 billion per year in taxes, they draw $26.3 billion a year in services. That's about $2,700 per household, with most of the money going for medical treatment, food assistance, the cost of incarceration, and education.

The report underscores one of the primary arguments used by those who support tighter border controls. "We either enforce our immigration laws or we don't. And if we don't, we might as well repeal our sovereignty."

One answer offered by the study is to cut the number of jobs available to undocumented workers by sanctioning employers. "That would dry up 98 percent of the traffic ," said T.J. Bonner of the National Border Patrol Council.

The study considered amnesty, but said the cost to taxpayers would increase by approximately 118 percent. Instead of $2,700 per household, taxpayers would be paying about $7,700. for each and every illegal alien given amesty.

Improvished AMERICANS in Appalachia, N.Y., Detroit, Cleveland need those jobs at a living wage, I doubt the movie shows those people. The best this country can/should do for illegal immigrants, is to create change in their host country; unless this change occurs the rich will get richer... and more will seek to immigrate. UNLESS OF COURSE YOU WANT TO PAY MORE TAXES TO SUPPORT OUT OF WORK AMERICANS.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:06 PM on 03/26/2008

Then why don't you go after the American companies who are hiring the illegals? They would not come if there was not a job waiting for them.

The Republicans love their illegal labor and would be very upset if there was some way to make them stay in Mexico.

Think about what would happen to our tourist industry. Most people working in housekeeping for hotels and motels are undocumented workers. This is a job that any American can do. But most won't do that kind of work. Same for the dishwashers in restaurants. Another job available to Americans but since restaurants can't find Americans to do the work, they hire undocumented workers. Or, they hire undocumented workers because they can pay them less. Either way, it's not the undocumented workers fault.

I really wish that every undocumented worker on a job in America today walked off their jobs and went back to Mexico. You would see a huge hit on our economy.

Also, there are jobs that Americans just won't do. I once worked for someone who made cheese. She paid a decent wage with benefits, but couldn't find any American worker who would do the wet and dirty job. So, she hired undocumented workers. She really had no choice unless she wanted to not be in business.

There are times - and certain issues - where Lou is right on, and I really admire his willingness to be a public scold. But there are also issues - like Mexican and Central American immigration - that he is just unable to grasp in their complexity or their human dimensions.

Unfortunately for him, his courageous stands on some issues are being swamped by his foolishness on this one.

What part of "illegal" is not understood by the law breaking employers who give them a job?

Fortunately for them it is an illegality that is ignored in this country.

It's OK for a US company to illegally hire undocumented workers, but it's not OK for an undocumented worker to take the job offered to them. A little hypocritical, don't you think?
