Hillary Clinton Extends 3 AM Phone Call To Economic Crisis

Senator Clinton returns to the red-phone imagery in remarks on the economy she's delivering in Raleigh, N.C. The remarks build on her message that she'd be ready from Day 1 to be commander in chief and steward of the economy. The phone, so resonant from her Texas primary ad, is a novel effort to conflate the two.

Another striking element of the speech: She personally takes a shot at McCain as being out to lunch on the economy. His advisers certainly recognize this, and his speech in Los Angeles this week was an effort to get more comfortable with the topic.

Yes, the 3am call can be an economic crisis. But how will sleep-deprived Hillary, who lied 3 times on the campaign trail in just the last 3 months about sniper fire, make the right decision? She is now on record saying that she "misspeaks" when she is sleep-deprived. She lies so much that she is beginning to believe them.

I don't trust Hillary to look out for the "little guys" in an economic crisis. Worldwide survey data was released yesterday and the only countries that wanted Hillary to win the election were China and Mexico. Europe, Africa, etc was for Obama. Granted, they don't pick our presidents, but the stated reasoning was that she backed trade policy favorable to these countries. And though the Clintons can claim an overall good economy during his/her presidency, much of this was due to the Internet bubble and bank deregulation, which got us into this mess we're in today. Oh well, Chelsea will make out like a bandit at the hedge fund job her dad set her up with.

Banks in other countries are open. Countries, whose rich citizens, may have contributed money to her husband's foundation and library, and may be a big part of the Chelsea's hedge-fund.

I happen to think she's the most competent person now running. But our election looks like it has descended into a popularity contest based on who's 'nicest' or seems more 'likable' where what is needed after Bush is someone who is more competent. I'm never going to interact with whoever wins, so why should I consider niceness or who I might want to invite over?

This "3AM /CIC of the economy" line is weak.
Her proposals are fine, as far as they go.
However, her desire to get this red phone / 3AM stuff connected to the economy as a soundbite is just the wrong way to think about the role of the president.

How blatantly transparent can a candidate get before their support totally collapses because the people are just flat-out embarrassed by her constant stretches of the truth?

I guess the American people are now suppose to believe her as far as McCain after she spent so much time pimping him. Now she is taking strikes at McCain too little too late. Her 3AM calls apply to the economy too Ha Ha I hope she is not using her "experience" to show that she is ready you know the Bosnia experience when she is dodging bullets. Or maybe its her secretly opposing Nafta that she will use cause nothing says secretly opposing something liek when you fight to get it past. Or that bankruptcy bill she signed and said she hoped will NOT get pass. Yeah that 3AM economic ad should be a shoe in for her.

Ok..I feel so stupid for just NOW getting it. Of course there will be 3 a.m. phone calls concerning the economy.

The dollar will come under sniper fire from the Euro, the Peso, and the Yen. It will need to duck for cover as it floats towards the wallet of her big money doners. You know, the donors that sent the lovely party invitation to Nancy Pelosi. That dollar will then have to perform a corkscrew landing on the stage at "The Lucky Gentleman" where Bill and his support staff are "having a good old fashion argument" with the dancing staff.
