Jessica Lange Denies Plastic Surgery Speculation

The Minneapolis Star Tribune saw a National Enquirer piece speculating on Jessica Lange's face, and made some calls so Lange's publicist:

"It's absolutely not true," Lange's PR rep Carrie Gordon told me from NYC on Tuesday. "And Jessica will not comment on it because it's not true."

In our first conversation, before Gordon presumably contacted Lange to say I was seeking a comment, Carrie asked how I could write this after admitting that I'm a huge fan of Jessica's work. Because I'm not blind?

The Enquirer asked Detroit-area plastic surgeon Dr. Tony Youn to analyze before and after photos of Lange and her "Bonneville" co-star Joan Allen, who has suspiciously smooth skin.

Youn gave the Enquirer precise observations about Lange's "overly arched brows," and unnatural Catwoman-like appearance. But haven't Lange's eyes always had a cat-like quality?

"To an extent she has," said Youn when I interviewed him. "Are her eyes a little more tilted than the average person's? Yes. But not to the extent that we see now in her."

Here is Lange on a 2005 red carpet

One's eyebrows do not go up as we age. It's called gravity.

I am sad to see yet another aging celebrity -- one who spent years claiming she would never get plastic surgery -- altering her beautiful face. I'd rather see a woman aging naturally (Dame Judi Dench comes to mind) than these creepy stretched tight masks.

she just drew on the eyebrows too high.

how long did you have to search to find such a goodawful pic of Jessica Lange?..and why did you post it???

She looks very surprised to be here.

Actually, it's a much better look than her "always ready to fall asleep" look, which was probably caused by her contstant drinking on- and off-the set.

Oh, no- it's the Joan Rivers- Catwoman look! Less sexy than aging gracefully, I'm sure..

This doesn't bother me as much as the younger women who do horrid things to themselves in the name of vanity. Have you seen a recent picture of Rose McGowan? Beautiful girl went and had surgery to such and extent that she now looks a bit freakish. I even read (on some movie site, I forget which) that she has lost roles because "she might not be recognizable to fans". And there was NOTHING wrong with her. Nothing physical anyway. Just like there was nothing wrong with you, Jessica. Jess? Listen, please. Beauty, REAL beauty, comes from inside. If you doubt this, why did Helen Mirren and Catherine Deneuve become more beautiful as they aged? Jamie Lee Curtis? Holy crap, that Christopher Guest is a lucky man! It was because they are happy with themselves as they are, not how they think others want them to be. I know it's the nature of Hollywood to look outside, but before getting more/any cosmetic surgery, look inside. You'll be happier and more beautiful in the long run.

Maybe it's just a bad eyebrow waxing...

Face lift? Nope. Face Transplant? Yep. And whoever donated their face sure was ugly. She looked MUCH better BEFORE the transplant.

She looks awful in that picture...actually OLDER.

Why do these women DO this to themselves?...either there isn't a decent plastic surgeon out there, OR there are some who are so good that the women who have had something done don't look it at all.

They are turning themselves from A-list beauties into B-list (Botox, Big-Lips, Big-Boobs) babe wanna-bes.

Between that and some of the horrible dresses/hair styles that show up at awards shows, one has to wonder if there's a fully-functioning full-length mirror in LA.

Well, who would you rather look like? Jessica Lang or Barbara Bush? I say go with the surgery!

Despite denials looks like she's had plastic surgery to me, almost doesn't look like her.
And as alluded to in another comment, Meryl looks the same and has aged better (and probably no plastic surgery either)

Deniability requires good plastic surgery, clearly not the case here. She no longer looks like herself.

why is this news?..instead of worrying about a movie star's surgery, why not posit why the government still spends trilions fighting a war, when the infrastructure of america needs its own facelift, but can't afford it?..

dear jettexx2000,

That has been and continues to be posted, daily. Check out all the other sections - why would that be posted under "entertainment"?

She may have had some Botox injections around the eyes - that would explain that constantly "surprised" look she has. But her face, as well as the shape of it, appears to be the same. None of that monstrous, misshapen Priscilla Pressley/Kate Jackson face thing going on with her.

You are older, wiser and more beautiful, Ms. Lange. You look great.

I tried to watch Lange "emote" in HBO's "Doris and Bernard" or whatever, and I could not tell if she was intended to be drunk, angry, sad, or half dead. Her expression above the nostrils is fixed. Lange was, and may still be, one of our best actresses, but whatever has immobilized her face, age or surgery, has robbed her of the subtle nuances of her talent. One cannot get a reading from her expression at all.

That was Susan Sarandon.

Sorry, Susan Sarandon starred in "Doris and Bernard" and Sarandon doesn't look like she has gone down the face lift road as yet.

At least it was a good result, unlike Presley or Kenny Rogers.

They seem to be picking on the only person in Hollywood who hasn't gone under the knife! Was anyone else creeped out like i was when closeups of Matt Damon's nose kept showing up in profile in the last Bourne movie?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 12:05 PM on 03/27/2008

You actually believe she didn't have surgery?

C'mon...

Matt has always had that nose...geez...now you want us to believe that Matt Damon had a nose job...he didn't!

Jessica Lange is the best actress of her generation. Even better than Meryl Streep. No one plays sexy and vulnerable and strong all at the same time like Lange does. "Blue Sky" from the early 90s, for which Lange won an Oscar, is a must see. As for her face, at 58 I'd say she looks damn good and she's always had a slight cross-eyed appeal. The above picture is mostly make-up. The eyebrows are a little high but I forgive Ms. Lange for that...

she had a facial job. But so what?
who cares. If she makes a good movie I will go see it. Other than that who the f......cares.
