HOW TO SPEAK HUFFPO

"He would not have been my pastor," Clinton said. "You don't choose your family, but you choose what church you want to attend."... (In HuffPo) = WHAT A RACIST OPPORTUNIST DIRT BAG. SHE SHOULD GET LOST.

Obama discusses Rev. Jeremiah Wright: "Had the Reverend not retired...then I wouldn't have felt comfortable staying there at the church" (In HuffPo) = WHAT COURAGE, DIPLOMACY, AND GRACE UNDER FIRE. HE SHOULD BE PRESIDENT.

Err, you missed the middle part of his quote, where he said something like "and had he not rejected and backtracked from the inflammatory things he said". Not that you care right. You are looking for things you want to find, not the truth.

I'm waiting to see how he handles it when he gets the 'we think you're sexy' comment from The Advocate. Great test that one :}

The View, He has finally arrived, this will surely put him over the top.

2008, war, economic collapse, the country down the shitter, and you go on the View, man that should be a crime, did you get a coffee mug?

Must be the mushrooms.

I hope he did....they cost $15 after all :)

Don't worry if he is president the country will stay in the crapper....he wants to base his foreign policy on GHB, JFK (who barely had a record, but it wasn't stellar), and REagan....ugh

I think that if you are not satisfied with Obama's answers about Rev. Wright by now, then you never will be. I think he did great on the view today, and I have no doubt he would be a President we could be proud of. He is half white and black and I doubt he hates white people and has a different agenda than what he is portraying. To say he hates white people is to say that he hates his mother as well. I think he has nothing but love and respect for her.

I have met him twice and heard him speak three times here in NH. The two times I spoke to him it was before his "rock star" status. I went to listen to almost all of the Presidential candidates Republican and Democrat and he was very genuine and he was the kindest. I voted for Edwards, but if Obama wins the Primary then I will vote for him in the GE.

I do not believe Obama is racist. The issue that I have is that he has spoken out against racism when the hateful words come from a white person (ie he demanded that Don Imus be fired for his hateful remarks) yet has a 20-year relationship with a black man who speaks hateful words against white people. He said on the View today that these words from Rev Wright are a compilation of a small number of stupid things he's said over the years, but that the media does not talk about all the good things that Rev Wright has accomplished. He also argued that Rev Wright was a man raised in the 50s-60s-70s a different time and that it's not an excuse but an explanation. I agree. But why then, can't the same be said for someone like Don Imus who was born in 1940 and has raised millions of dollars for charity yet, is mostly know for his shock jock comments?

Of course Don Imus is just one example, but my question is, why is it ok for blacks to attack white racists but yet give a pass to black racists. Shouldn't we all be outraged by any type of racism, no matter what the race...or gender, religion, age, weight, sexual orientation, etc?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:02 PM on 03/28/2008

Unlike Rev. Wright -- Don Imus was speaking on THE PUBLIC AIRWAVES! That throws what he said into a completely different category. People have been fired from broadcasting jobs for FAR less controversial comments.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:21 AM on 03/29/2008

Please. How someone could compare what Wright said to "Happy Headed Hoes"? Besides Imus is using the public airwaves and has a national forum.

THere is no comparison. Imus's comments were racist. Wrights were not racist.

Not me. I can forgive the mostly verbal forms of anti-white racism by blacks. It's all bark and no bite. Wright is angry, not vengeful.

His heroes were assassinated, and his "people" are still struggling. He is affected by the violence against blacks, the super-criminalization of crack cocaine, greater sentences for blacks over whites, job disparity, the inferior schools, and America's disinterest in the deadly struggles in Africa. The list goes on. What, substantially, has black people done to whites, even in revenge?

It's a total smoke screen for the real assault on black people in this nation.

I don't think it's a question of being satisfied with his answers on Rev. Wright. Those who relentlessly attack him on this do so because it's is all that they have. It's desperation. They don't really have *anything else* with which to attack him, since everything else they've tried has failed. Unfortunately for them, as big as this issue was made out to be, Obama has emerged with barely a scratch. In fact, he will likely end up gaining ground the more he gets to talk about it. It's like I said in the past, attacking Obama like this only makes him stronger.

What I really love about all of this is the reaction from some of the more rabid Clinton supporters and GOP operatives as this gets dragged out. It frustrates them to no end that their attacks aren't working. You can even read some of the irrational rantings ("...LIAR... RACIST... UNPATRIOTIC... RADICAL...") from these poor misguided souls right here on HuffPo. And, as I previously predicted, it's only going to get worse for them because there seems to be a slowly building shift... the attacks will begin to backfire as the religious establishments slowly awaken. It's a very intriguing thing to watch.

I agree with you because Obama is getting more practice in situating inflammatory comments, playing out his responses, and gauging reactions. At some point the electorate will also get tired of the same rhetoric and Obama and his campaign will make sure that they do by using the media's fascination on him against the media's propaganda-based reporting. Obama will continue to talk about issues or attack McCain and the media will have to move from the story or they will fall on their own overblown collective corporate sponsored asses.

I noticed Sherri was foaming at the mouth when she saw Obama. She said she was going to vote for Hillary until she heard his speech. What bull!! Obama said he handles attacks by responding with the truth. I don't think so. He has been caught exaggerating numerous times, and the media just ignores it. Let Hillary do that and they swarm all over her like bees on honey. At least Whoopie is true to her feelings. As far as Barbara, I was really surprised at her comment about him being sexy. I always liked her for her dignity. Who talked her into that question? Anyhow, BO put on his charming best and probably laughed all the way out the door.

"Ugh" is right. What is wrong with Barbara Walters??!! I am sixty and have at least the good taste to truely think and say, "I would be proud if you were my son, Mr. Obama." With examples like Barbara Walters, no wonder young boys think old ladies are scary, eh? At a certain point...? I don't care, Viagra or no, you must admit, sex is for making babies, kiddo. It's nice and you can do it if you are so driven without making babies, but yikes. Do not make us think of your shriveled bits.

"Had Rev not retired, I would have left," "Had I been a US Senator, I would have voted no on Iraq," "Had I gone to work that day, I would have voted no on IRAN". This is what you are all basing your trust in this man on. It's your right, of course. And, it's mine to be glad this isn't over and I don't yet have to face him as the democratic candidate.

It took him 5 days to write and deliver a speech on race after the Wright story broke. A story about betrayal and wondering who is Obama, really, after 20 years of this. But, he says he likes to answer "swiftly", and head on. He still hasn't answered the questions that were raised that day.

Honesty? Just because the executive donations that used to filter through a PAC are now coming from personal checkbooks doesn't mean he isn't taking special interest/lobbyist money. He is.

You missed the middle part of his quote, where he added another condition to his predicate. The other condition was had Reverend Wright not rejected and apologised for his inflammatory comments. Either you deliberately left out the other condition to his predicate, or you just saw the headline and didn't bother to see the interview. Either way, it is obvious you are just looking for things you want to see, rather than trying to find out the truth.

Bill Maher had a great blog addressing this insane "After 20 years" atrgument.. you should read it... then after you read it, come back here and I will say:

Catholic Church Priests and Denouncement in the same sentence and see how a hush comes over Jeruselum.....

The "After 20 years" argument is pointless... and like Fabienne says.. its not hurting him politically.. people arent that irrational to blame someone for someones else's words..

Right there is nothing wrong with having a nice looking President, but how about one who is actually qualified for the job.

Bill Clinton and JFK were both good looking and great Presidents, even with their infidelity issues.

Fact is fact.

I watched and I like Obama. However he never answered the questions on Wright. Those who say those clips are only snipets of what Wright said do not get it. They were still racist and Wright he is a Christian. Not everything Hitler said was racist either, so the racist part should be excused.

I stand by Obama....,he's said what he had to say, and I don't think he should have to keep talking about it. Like Bill Maher bought out in an article today,Catholic priest have molested children for years, but their parishioners have not left the church. So why should Obama abandon his church for something his pastor said. Tha'ts ridiculous ! People that don't vote for Obama because of what Rev. Wright said, are weak in character, easily swayed and probably wouldn't have voted for him anyway.

He's the Elmer Gantry of American politics. He keeps attacking HRC on her claim of experience. Why doesn't he tell us that his community organizing translates into midnight basketball. That people he was supposed to be getting jobs for in Chicago , their union endorses HRC. That is what he says commends him to us to deal with wars, the world economy, foreign realtions, national security, poverty, medical system, nuclear proliferation , education crises, curency crisis, trade crisis, social security, exportation of jobs, and the beat goes on. What remotely qualifies him for anything? So here we are, great words and a lot of Sister Sharon's. She was mesmerized by Gantry until it all collapsed in a fiery blaze. In my 75 years on this earth I've seen a lot of these guys come and go. And that' s all they do, they come and go. The next president is going to be a one term president because this moron in the white house right now doesn't know what he doesn't know and it appears to be just about everything. The next president can't solve all of this by well crafted speeches. If we are to get anywhere there will have to be a lot of ugly "sausage making."The time for fanciful rhetoric in the uSA has long since passed. If you don't want to become a third world country in the next 4 years you'd better get someone who can do the job. It aint Obama.
