Barack Obama appears on "The View" today (taped yesterday), and below we present a chunk of the highlights of the interview:

Ten minutes on Wright, and so little on other topics. But he held his own. I also notice Hasselbeck has been quoting Sean Hannity less...probably his association with Neo-Nazi groups?

There needs to be one standard for judging religion in the lives of our candidates. Either Hillary Clinton and John McCain need to be brought up to this standard of scrutiny, or the subject must be dropped. I've seen no endless looping or loopy revisiting of controversial comments by Rod Parley, John Hagee, Tim ($$$) LaHaye, or Douglas Coe. So the standard is not the same.

Or the culture of the reporters is not the same as Obama. If not mistaken, the press corps is mostly white. Fewer, if any of those reporters would have had exposure to black churches or the neighborhoods of those churches. So the titilation of the reporter is stronger with comments like Wright made, and less so to the comments Hagee has made.

Put another way, I don't see why you still hear "Brown Sugar" or "Some Girls" by the Rolling Stones, or "Island Girl" by Elton John on the radio. Listen a little closer - you may not hear what I hear in those moneymakers.

I seem to remember Lou Dobbs, and Chris Maffews getting up in arms about the "religious test" and how unconstitutional it is. Now they are drooling all over this pastor problem, Maffews is literally drooling.

What political opportunists we see with Rev Wright. Every male in my family would instantly be booted out of politics if their worst moments were bundled together, and played over again in the media. Forget about their pastors. Should we comdemn all Catholics for not leaving the Church when they found out higher up in the Church new about child abuse in the Church? That's actually hurting people and breaking the law.

Rev Wright was only pointing out that as Christian Americans we de-sensitize ourselves to violence played out on others. We melted women and children alive by dropping atomic bombs on them. Shouldn't we at least ask ourselves about that?

I only watched the View this morning because Barack Obama was going to be on. It was like punishing myself to have to listen to the likes of Elisabeth Hasselbeck who apprently only got the job becuase she looks pretty and is the token republican having to take on by default, the ridiculous talking points of the republican machine.
