Obama On View

Barack Obama appears on "The View" today (taped yesterday), and below we present a chunk of the highlights of the interview:

  • When Obama claims that his distant-cousin Brad Pitt got the better looking side of the gene pool, Barbara declares, "We thought you were very sexy looking"
  • Obama tells Joy that he can withstand the Republican attack machine: "I'm skinny but I'm tough," he says
  • Obama discusses Rev. Jeremiah Wright: "Had the Reverend not retired...then I wouldn't have felt comfortable staying there at the church"

Here's more about his pastor/mentor, Jeremiah Wright and the primary season:

For god's sake can't any of you people on here lighten up a little. With all the hateful stuff going on how about a little down time. I think we all need to chill out a little.

Thank you, Pammy1151. I, for one, quite agree. The right-wing and their minions are going to be so nasty in the general election. Why can't these comment sections be forums for reasoned, respectful dialog? The vitriol will spill forth soon enough.

He mgiht have lef tthe church if Rev Wright didn't retire.

what a flip-flopper!

please read the article at:

http://hillaryisourchoice.com/flip_flop.htm

sounds similar to, "i voted for the war before voted against the war"

oh please this is not an American Idol contest Barbara Walters.

Hey he stayed away from the church.

THERE WAS TOO MUCH SNIPER FIRE !

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:17 AM on 03/28/2008

He said the same thing he's been saying. If that was the tone of the church the whole time I would have left. Just because he used different words to raise the same point does not change the meaning .

How is that a flip flopper he said he stayed with the church because Wright was retiring and he says that he might have left if Wright didnt retire. Its saying the same thing. Flip floppers say the opposite those statements are identical.

People that see matters such as this as a flip-flop need to see a shrink. That is just black and white thinking (sorry for the pun). People are allowed to change their mind. Also just because you decide one thing at one time does not mean you can't change that. Reading these blogs underlines the fact that so many people are just mentally unhealthy. Try thinking like a grown-up for a change. Please

Gee. Like Hillary. She voted on the war because of Bush' s lies. And now she says she wishes she didn't. BUT NO! she can't change her mind but glamour boy gets all the slack he needs.

Oh Boy here we go..Let's keep this American Idol going. Now he's sexy. I remember a commentator quoting a famous woman once who said, I am sadden by all of this hoop-la. A woman like HIllary Clinton devotes her life to service works hard and just like many of the women out here who will get this following comment know too well...

"She works 150% and then this young looking man comes along and takes her job away"..Isn't that the truth.

I think the argument that Hillary Clinton is being beaten by a man solely because he's a man holds no water at all. If Barack Obama was a woman the situation would still be the same. It's his character, judgment and honesty that keep him on top. Not his sex.

Hillary Clinton, for our her strengths, is still viewed as an opportunistic politician. And her sex has nothing to do with it.

Let there be no doubt -- Hillary is a scrappy hit-below-the-belt fighter. Some people like and identify with this trait of hers. There's just one problem: it's not presidential. A strong woman doesn't have to be a bulldog. Let Carville and Co. do that. Barack wears his strength well, he controls his temper, lets the arrows slide off his back and keeps on runnin'.

I agree.

I, a white man, love Obama in a way that has nothing to do with his race and hate Hillary in a way that has nothing to do with her gender. He is a magnificent human being and she is a wretched one. it's as simple as that, as far as I am concerned.

"for all her strengths" I meant to say

I think it's very funny that women who espouse feminist ideas would denigrate other women by implying that us female Obama supporters are only supporting Obama for shallow reasons, such as looks. As if us empty-headed "girls" can't pick a candidate for intelligent reasons... It's playing on ugly stereotypes about flibbertygibbit ladies. In 2004, I espoused admiration for John Edwards to an old white male partner at my law firm, and he said basically that us women just like him because of his looks (little did he know he's not my type - if you know what I mean) but he was your basic Republican misogynistic pr-ck, so I expected it from him. Let's not go that way, Hillary-supporters. I respect your right to support her; please respect my right to support him.

They don't. It's part of the power trip. And it's why I confront them quite often. I felt a little sheepish at first when I mentioned my support for Obama at a breakfast meeting of the Women's Historians part of the American Historical Association. But what I found was that my table was full of Obama supporters. I was SOOOO happy.

These are the same "feminists" who denigrate women who choose to be stay-at-home moms. Pay them no mind...

Yes, and some liberal Obama is. He's a politiciann that will do anything he can to get elected. he's not a change agent.

He has an anti-abortion endorser in PA. He'll do anything to get elected.
He is no innocent. He is not a change agent. He'l say and do whatever it takes to get elected.

First, hillary is not our choice

Second, its the View, an entertainment talk show. Hillary was on there before joking about doing her hair.

Get over it.

And the quote you show only proves the sense of entitlement that Hillary and her supporters have about the presidency.

Don't get mad just because Clinton pissed away her "shoo-in" nomination because she thought she could saunter all the way to the General Election.

That's what bothers me: the arrogance. Karma sure bit her behind.

Sorry, I don't subscribe to that sexist crap.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:07 AM on 03/28/2008

Is there a reason why the writers of this show want to portray Barbara Walters as some wanton sex starved woman? Honestly what gives? Are they trying to prove that older women like sex too??
