Bill And Hillary

**UPDATED 03.29**

In an article on the obstacles Hillary Clinton faces in regards to winning the nomination, The New York Times notes that despite the increasing pressure on her to step aside, Clinton is still refusing to give an inch:

Compounding the challenge, one of Mr. Obama's most prominent supporters, Senator Patrick J. Leahy of Vermont, said Mrs. Clinton should quit the race because she hurt Mr. Obama "more than anything John McCain has said."

The Clinton campaign showed resolve in the face of the developments, rallying supporters and donors and enlisting prominent surrogates to fight back. Mrs. Clinton told aides that she would not be "bullied out" of the race.

In a conversation with two Democratic allies, she compared the situation to the "big boys" trying to bully a woman, according to interviews with them.

On the campaign trail, Mrs. Clinton said she was in the contest to stay.

On Friday both Clintons struck defiant notes on the trail in response to recent suggestions from leading Democrats that Hillary should end her campaign.

From MSNBC:

Just in case you were wondering what Hillary Clinton's No. 1 fan thinks of recent calls for her to drop out of the race for the Democratic nomination, Bill Clinton has three words for you: "Bunch of Bull."

"All these people tell you, 'Aw, we oughta shut this thing down now; the Democrats are so divided,'" Clinton said at a campaign event here. "That's a bunch of bull."

From the New York Times Caucus blog:

To answer questions that have been swirling around her candidacy all day, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton arrived here in northwest Indiana - just a few miles from her Democratic rival's home on Chicago's South Side - to unequivocally say she has no intention of leaving the presidential race.

"There are millions of reasons to continue this race: people in Pennsylvania and Indiana and North Carolina and all of the contests yet to come," Mrs. Clinton said. "This is a very close race and clearly I believe strongly that everyone should have their voices heard and their votes counted and that includes Michigan and Florida."

Then, she added: "There is a lot still to be done and I'm looking forward to campaigning hard over the next several months."

Al Gore doesn't endorse. But expect party elders to put forth a letter, "Someone Should Step Down" for the good of the party. Now how on earth could one make the argument that is should be Obama?? Well...

Interesting.

the thing that is unbelievable about billary's position on this is that if the roles were reversed and Hillary had Obama's numbers (delegates and super delagates) they would be DEMANDING that Obama end the race and withdraw. These Clinton's are so slimy.

If Hillary can't win then the Clintons want McCain to win because McCain (like Bush) will continue to cover-up their misdeeds.

Misdeeds include: using psychiatrists to lock up and discredit their political enemies. And many other abuses of government power.

The Bush's and the Clinton's have been tied at the hip for many, many years !!!

Bill Clinton covered Papa Bush's "misdeeds"...Georgie covered Bill Clinton's "misdeeds", and the beat goes on !!!

I agree, and Obama is covering for pastor Wright.

America will take them over Wright any day, any year, and time.

Exactly. This is the absolute truth. This issue is bigger than any other in the race for president. We need to figure out a way to enlighten the populous regarding the Bush's and Clinton's nefariousness without sounding like conspiracy theorist.
GO OBAMA!

That is 90% of their fight mode...to save their cover. With a BO win the cat will be out of the bag and their world will come slamming down. Hard.

Exactly! More Clinton trauma with the Peter Paul discoveries coming up. Liary is due in court in August for her testimony...as if swearing to tell the truth with her hand on a bible would make any difference.

I just saw a wonderful sight on CNN. It was John Edwards talking to the Young Democrats and he was talking about all the things democrats need to bring to Waxhington. I think, frankly, we need to throw out not only Obama and Clinton, but to nominate a Gore /Edwards ticket and give Al gore the victory others took away from him in 2002 and forget the remaining two candidates altogether...both are too tainted to win in November and Gore and Edwards are way more refreshing and able than either Clinton or Obama.

No way we're not going anywhere! Then we'd have to be together...alone! It's much funner tearing the party apart and praising McCain so Hill can try again in 2012!

It isn't a "very close race." She is too far behind to overtake Obama. By all means, let us all vote. He will still be in the lead, because (a) he will win some of the upcoming states, and (b) of the way in which the delegates are apportioned from each state. Remember, they aren't winner-take-all. So it's less close than the Clintons and the MSM (who love the drama of it all) would have us all believe.

It’s past two in the morning. He’s in a hotel in Pittsburgh, the room dark except for the TV. CNN, the sound off. She'll will be winding up her fundraising phone rounds, and will be calling him. She’ll chew him a new one about what he said today on the stump, no matter how on-message he was. He’s beat. The rush isn’t there when you’re campaigning for somebody else.

There she is now on TV, finishing up a speech, with that habit she has of jabbing the air with her finger like she’s poking eyes in a Stooges skit. He shook his head, wishing she’d call so he could try to get some sleep.

Barack on TV now. Man, he looked good in a suit. Comfortable in his own skin. Thought they had him with that crazy preacher. but, man, he hit that one out of the park. Watching him, Bill remembered how he had felt back in ’92. This guy has it.

They were screwed. But who could tell her? The only way to the nomination required losing any chance in the general election. This kid from Illinois has eaten her lunch. Grass roots, turn out the troops. The way he had in ‘92.

He’d give a lot to be able to stump for Obama. Ride the wave again. He’d like to be UN Ambassador. And from there—Secretary General. Give him a couple of years to work the room.

The phone rang. He turned.

I'm not...at least, she isn't leaning in and whispering in a woman's ear on The View---a microcosm of the wooing that is going on frm the other side. And you know what wooing leads to...

ROTFLOL...that is the best you can come up with? It is now a wooing conspiracy involving the View, a bunch of cranky old women who have nothing serious to say. That is almost as ridiculous as Hillary staying in this race when she has a better chance of winning the lottery than she does of winning the nomination.

what a stupid comment, people often whisper to each other on tv shows or other venues before they start talking to the camera or the public, man or woman. Considering there are only women on the show you are refering to , I guess there really wasn't a choice. Where do people come up with such meaningless comments like yours?? It sound exactly like something Clinton would say so I shouldn't be surprised.

Who cares about the VIEW! Those view women all voted for Hillary, and Eva Braun (Elizabeth) voted for a Republican and Barbara Wa Wa probably voted for Rudy. Not one of those women voted for Obama, so what difference does the VIEW make, except that they unfairly slam Obama and have been doing so for months!

I am a Democrat. I and my wife have watched Obama.

We see the principal problem as the economy.

We see no evidence that Obama knows how to deal with it.

We remember Clintons term and the somewhat balanced budget and good economic times.

We have both decided that we will vote for McCain rather than Obama should he be the nominee.

We think there are lots of folks like us, Dems, Independents, Repubs... folks who DO NOT GO TO CAUCUSES.

So keep on this course. You will deserve the result.

I used to be a Clinton supporter, but this primary election cycle has really allowed me to see them in another light. The longer they stay in this race the dimmer the light becomes. I hope they will find a way to exit with some form of dignity. What her campaign has tried so desperately to do has back fired and put them in the spotlight to show them for what they really are, crooks, liars, race baiters, and worse of all traitors. They have convinced me they are really republicans and the reason they are staying in this race is because they have a republican agenda that they must see realized, if not them, then MccCain can get the job done. They are talking out of both sides of their mouths, Hillary has one talking point for the women and Bill has another talking point for the men, if Hillary loses the nomination he's telling them to vote for McCain, and Hillary supporters are so loyal they will automatically vote for McCain if she is not the nominee. Leahy sees clearly how they are destroying the party and realizes it will take some time to bring everyone together, thats why he is asking her to step aside, now.

Grow up children. Bill faced down every gun and dagger republicans could throw at him. Yes, legally, he was impeached by a Newt Gingrich, Tom Delay congress, but the country knows, Clinton won.

By the way, where are all those congressional prosecutors, in the trash heap of history where there belong.

Who is proudly standing? Hey, McCain may have endured 5 years in the Hanoi Hilton, but Hillary had to endure 6 years of Rush, Fox, and MSNBC.

What has Obama endured? Nothing . . . he is an empty suit.
