Siegelman

Thinkprogress.org:

Former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman (D) was released from prison today so he can testify to the House Judiciary Committee about the controversial prosecution that led to his incarceration. In an interview shortly after his release, Siegelman singled out former White House aide Karl Rove's involvement in his case:

In a telephone interview shortly after he walked out of a federal prison in Oakdale, La., Mr. Siegelman said there had been "abuse of power" in his case, and repeatedly cited the influence of Karl Rove, the former White House political director.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to see Mr. Pig-Face Rove staring out from behind bars. I can see it all now. He is a ne'er do well criminal. A man's value is in his ethics and integrity of which this guy, Rove, has none...zero...zilch! Bye Bye Mr. Piggy!

You hit it right on the head, cowboydem. Idiots. Or maybe Rove operatives?

I agree. Sometimes they are extremely wimpy about posting comments, some of which are quite poignant (usually mine).

Rove needs to go to straight to jail. He planted a wiretapping device in his own office in order to try and discredit his candidates opponent. He's a crook.

Hey, stealing lines from the Exorcist will not be tolerated here; even if they're accurate.

Seems like Siegelman is just a Democratic Duke Cunningham.

Got good money to steer contracts to his friends. Only Duke retained some dignity and admitted his failings.

Libs just can't seem to do that. How's that cold hard cash, William Jefferson?

Republicans love to say "he did it too". You can't put Jefferson in the same class as Cunningham unless you think guilty until proven innocent. Where's the conviction?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 05:59 PM on 03/29/2008

First, Siegelman was absolutely not guilty of any crime and second, not even democrats support William Jefferson or any crooked politician; they're all traitors.

presidential signing statements leaves them ALL in the clear..no worries, this will just "fluff up" and fade away, just like it Always does...This is so disgusting....WE let this happen, WE let them scare the crap out of US ( a majority) to get what they wanted, $$$$$$$$$$, elections and power. WE have OUR work cut out for US to be sure the Next Admin, no matter WHO it is, are held Accountable to reverse/repair the damage done to the Constitution, Civil Rights, the Economy, No bid contracts.........the list is infinite.

When has Any Gov't body relinquished power once it attains it????

Signing statements have no legal basis whatsoever. No objective court would ever uphold them.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:25 PM on 03/29/2008

Except Bush's use of signing statements if proforma unconstitutional. They were traditionally used for dicta, a way for the Pres. to make a STATEMENT. Bush uses them to issue illegal laws with out Congressional approval, as raw and blatant an attack on the Separation of Powers as he has committed. EMPEROR'S RULE BY DECREE, NOT PRESIDENTS. NO CITIZEN SHOULD OBEY ANY LAW DERIVED FROM BUSH'S USE OF SIGNING STATEMENTS. THEY ARE ILLEGAL, UNCONSTITUTIONAL. If I were picked up under an order issued by "signing statement", they better send the Gestapo. And lots of them.

I am glad Siegelman got out pending appeal. There was a lot of uproar when he was convicted, because he was charged with an act that is done in every governor's mansion in the nation. However, his "briber" Richard Scrushy can stay in prison, regardless of his technical guilt, because of all the crimes he got away with. If we are going to do away with due process of law, I want some of the benefits of living in a dictatorship.

To paraphrase some wiseman: If Karl Rove doesn't have anything to hide what is he worried about?"

Hey Karl, go ahead and stop hiding behind the bogus claim of Executive Privilege (am I mistaken or did the US Supreme Ct unanimously rule against Nixon's claim of Ex Privilege back in Watergate/) and release all records of your conversations with the Justice Department. You did nothing wrong so what do you have to hide? You should be proud of your accomplishments.

Personally I want to see the records of Rove's "communications" with Gannon/Guckert the whore in the Press Corps. I suspect they will make the Star Report look tame.

Geez. All anyone has to do is claim the "Karl Rove framed me" defense and all the libs clamber on board. Too bad Mumia Abu-Jamal was a few decades too early to use it.

And I suppose over a hundred charges thrown out by THREE different judges doesn't signal to your independent eye SOME kind of bogosity.

That gag order on Siegelman in jail and being there while appealing always showed to me how bogus this was, even before that operative got on 60 Mins.

Tru dat.

Sounds like a Democratic Duke Cunningham, siphoning contracts to buddies in exchange for some do re mi. Course, Duke retained some dignity.....at least he confessed. Gov. S. will no doubt use the William Jefferson "Cold Cash" defense. "Gee, I don't know how that money got in my freezer..."

Your sins will be forgiven if you turn from evil and do what is right now. Redeem your soul, save your Nation from the grip of greed. ABOLISH this criminal government.

No too bad he didn't work for Bush or would have been pardoned or granted clemency.

52 former state's attorneys general, both Republican and Democrat, have asked for a full investigation of this phony indictment and conviction. When properly investigated this will prove that the Republican party and this administration in particular are corrupt anti-democratic and anti-American to the core.

Need to get a really good attorney, remember Petrocelli? Have him launch a defense the likes of which brings down the whole thing. Now that would be the stuff of books and movies.

Friends,

All Americans who are interested in the crimes the Republican Party has been using to corrupt our election system, order a copy of the book "How to Rig an Election" by Al Raymond. I ordered it a couple of weeks ago and read it in two nights. It is actually a tell-all by a former higher level henchman who is pissed because the RNC, and others, let him take the fall for the New Hampshire phone jamming "exercise". He names names, gives dates, and otherwise comes clean for his misdeeds. Sorrowfully, he cannot help undo the results he helped make happen, so he'll get no forgiveness from me.

It costs twenty bucks, plus shipping, but is well worth it.

Porky pig to the BBQ. He should have in prison long ago. He changed his testimony in front of the grand jury in the Scooter Libby case. Oink, Oink. He was involved in the US Attorney firings but is hiding behind executive privilege. He was directly involved with the Siegelman prosecution. This guy was part of CREEP back in Nixon's day. Maybe he' roll over on Darth Vader and even the Shrub. Go for the greasy pig and watch him squeal!

There is much underway right now , that will expound the criminality of the guilty ones. However the waiting does seem long, it will be resolved within the time framework of the captivity. The captivity of Carl Rove. He will venture to find asylum in a far off place.

Carl Rove will seek refuge in a far off place, but he will be returned . No matter what the outcome, this corrupt machine, run by Cheney is finished. Many a lawmaker will seek Truth above all else from this time henceforth.

Oh for the formost fighting to begin. There are therefore willing subjects who will succumb to the prevarications of this administration. Total objectivity by the opposing will assist in bringing about a cease and desist injunction. For readily had the subscribers of this event been to accede to the wishes of this evil machine which operates in Washington. Here-to-fore are the opposing views strenghthened by the majority and put into policy.
