Do you remember the decorated 3 star General who had to resign (in ignominy) from his position in the military because he put a combat ribbon on his chest that he had not earned? Senator Clinton is benefitting from a double standard, unfortunately. If she were male and had made the comment about being under fire when she was not, you would find it difficult to turn on the television and see anything other than Senator Clinton's lie about escaping bullets.

As for Bill Maher, he has always been a little sexist (have you watched him?) He was this way long before Senator Clinton ran for President. Were you outraged before? If you were not, then perhaps you should examine the reason why you are now.

Perhaps you are also unaware that Senator Obama has said Senator Clinton should run as long as she wants to. Perhaps you are also unaware that many independents support Senator Obama, while few support Senator Clinton. These folks would not call themselves progressives. Yes, this is what Democracy looks like, and although it looks pretty bad, it is still the best political system available. Senator Clinton can give Senator Obama anything she wants to, but Senator Obama will still be the Democratic nominee and the 44th President of the U.S.

You presented us with a common but stupid analogy. MY Catholic priest is not a pedophile. And he has never and WOULD never say "God damn America!" And if he ever did, I would leave the congregation. Do you have any proof that Oprah left the church because she did not agree with Pastor Wright's philosophies? I can't see a woman of Oprah's character making a statement to you or anyone else about her reason for leaving the church. Do you know if she has left the church or is this something you have heard? Well with all the insurance money paid due to vast numbers of Catholic priests who molested children over decades - it is on point. Churches cannot get sexual crimes/harassment coverage, except as a special binder, costs tons of money because of the underwriter's statistical certainty it would occur again.
As a white, 60 and female, I have no problem with what Reverand Wright said, the slaves were "given" Christianity and told they would not be free on earth, but they would be in heaven. The church was their place where "janitors and maids" could be free and they have endured 256 years of slavery , 00 years of segregation and discrimination.

Things weren't so hot for women until the 1980s. In 1966 to get a job I had to have a pregnancy test and a full physical. I was groped and roped into car rides home from company meetings, and I fought back. I resigned, and told them I'd be back some day as an attorney my solution to obtain parlance with men in my career.
Years later I visited this company a few months before they went bankrupt (20 Million in managed assets) and I was CLO of a national corporation just down the street. Sweet revenge.

Relax, Purple Girl. That was not a video of Bill Maher berating the American Public. (I don't doubt they exist. It's part of what he gets paid to do, which is to make people laugh - and think - about public affairs.) I recognized from the rhetoric and context of his monologue that his remark was in response to not getting an expected laugh for saying the odd couple of Hillary and Sinbad consists of a has-been and Sinbad. He was acknowledging that the joke bombed and being humorously sore at an audience who didn't know who Sinbad was. "I'm just gonna keep going. I don't give a **** what you know or don't know." He is a good comic and that's how he got back some laughter and scattered applause.

That said, Tavis Smiley is surely a more responsible broadcaster, and probably a better neighbor. I like the way he does it.

If there was no video futage to contradict senator Clinton's claim your explanation would have been plausable, if not believable. If she "was warned to keep her head down" there was no sign of it, plus I doubt any mother would take their only child on a trip with such grim prognosis. Also one must remember that the armed forces whose job it is to protect foreign dignitaries when they visit a country with strife will not under any circumstances put a first lady's life in harms way. Can you imagine the consequence of such negligence?!!
Neither Sen. Clinton nor Sen. Obama has set foot in Iraq because I believe they both oppose that war, however, Senator Obama visited the Sudan/Chad, border where the refugee camp is located, in 2006 and sat down with a lot of Sudanese refugees to see how the US can help. On his return he tabled some legislature to help in this region.
If people are so critical of Sen. Obama because of his pastor, then I think they should be critical of other candidates because of people they are associated with. Truthfully I think Sen. Clinton was ahead when she didn't weight in on the controversy but when she said she would have left the chuch the first thing that came to mind was Monica Lewinsky.
Both Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama have security as well as senator McCain, I dont think this makes any of them cowardly.

Gimme a break. She 'misspoke' not just once but three times. Even when she acknowledged that she had met the girl on the tarmac, she lied again saying right after that she ran to the car. Except there was more footage that popped up of her taking a photo with not one but a whole class of Bosnian children LOL. And she was also seen shaking the hands of a whole row of soldiers before walking (not running and ducking) to an armoured vehicle.

And Maher still defends Hillary, but how can you really defend her in this instance when she outright lied and lied again after being caught in the lie? Maher defended her later in the show when the issue of her dropping out came up; he said she shouldn't drop out because she's still close.
