Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton told the Washington Post in an interview published Saturday that she would stay in the Democratic Presidential Race until the convention:

In her most definitive comments to date on the subject, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton sought Saturday to put to rest any notion that she will drop out of the presidential race, pledging in an interview to not only compete in all the remaining primaries but also continue until there is a resolution of the disqualified results in Florida and Michigan.

A day after Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean urged the candidates to end the race by July 1, Clinton defied that call by declaring that she will take her campaign all the way to the Aug. 25-28 convention if necessary, potentially setting up the prolonged and divisive contest that party leaders are increasingly anxious to avoid.

"I know there are some people who want to shut this down and I think they are wrong," Clinton said in an interview during a campaign stop here Saturday. "I have no intention of stopping until we finish what we started and until we see what happens in the next 10 contests and until we resolve Florida and Michigan. And if we don't resolve it, we'll resolve it at the convention -- that's what credentials committees are for.

"We cannot go forward until Florida and Michigan are taken care of, otherwise the eventual nominee will not have the legitimacy that I think will haunt us," said the senator from New York. "I can imagine the ads the Republican Party and John McCain will run if we don't figure out how we can count the votes in Michigan and Florida."

Asked if there was a scenario in which she would drop out before the last primaries on June 3, Clinton said no. "I am committed to competing everywhere that there is an election," she said.

If a video clip of Clinton’s outsourcing remarks in India were played on TV before the upcoming primaries in Indiana, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, she would lose the elections, despite current polls. Not only because working-class voters oppose outsourcing, but because the duplicity of Clinton would become obvious.

The Obama campaign has run its course. They have nothing left but demand that their opponent step aside. And the lazy journalists go for the low hanging fruit and write a story to keep the pay cheques coming. ( The media is not biased - just self-centered and lazy)

Know this : Obama should have wrapped this up by now. He needed to finished off Clinton after his 11 state run. But he couldn't. This is the toughest political ring in the world, and you need to be able to knock out your opponent.

More than anyone else, the super delegates understand this.

Mark my words: After Pennsylvania and the Edwards endorsement , the superdelegates will line up with Clinton.

Continued 2...

And as far as Hilary being in the White House as the first lady, that doesn't prepare you to be come president. She didn't have clearance to attend meetings and joint briefings. Yes, she was there and maybe saw a little of what went on, but still, that's doesn't justify her the rest of her experience claim. I think judgement is important. For example, Obama was against the war from the start, and Hilary was not.

As far as the Reverend Wright controversy, it's guilt by association. I don't think he should be criticized as much as he has been. People don't agree with what everything their family, friends, and as well in this case, their pasture agrees with. Pat Buchanan, though not running for president, has said some pretty racist remarks and aren't criticized. We all have prejudices and stereotypes. Be honest. Racism exists, and should be further openly be discussed. It's too bad it's taken this controversy to lead to the discussions....At least its being discussed finally..

Ok Im done ranting. It went a little long and unnecessary, but oh well. If you don't like it, too bad. I feel better!!

I'm not supporting Hillary in this race but I'm pretty sure all this bluster about a credentials committee fight is just positioning and gamesmanship. Hillary knows that she will lose broad swaths of her support if she trys to follow through on a threat to break the party in the most important election since 1932. Millions and millions of Democrats will never forgive her if she is substatially behind on June 4th and she doesn't suspend her campaign and begin to work to unite the party.

I'm not sure if he's added party unity for strength in November to his stump speech, but perhaps Senator Obama should learn to pander a little better. Perhaps he should start with John and Elizabeth Edwards?

Arrghh... I'm so sick of this bullsh*t. I didn't care for Hilary before, but now I wish she would just disappear!! I despise her!!!! I'm burnt out on this whole thing. It's obvious it's almost over for her.

Oblivious Hilary supporters, she doesn't have the delegates, popular vote, or most of the states!!!! Obama can beat McCain, she probably can NOT. Yes she has the "big states", but it's ridiculous for you to assume he can't win those states...Maybe he can't get all of them, but he can get the majority. Wake the F * & CK UP!!!! She's just about FINISHED!! All HIllary cares about is Hilary...If she cared so much, she'd do the party a favor and leave!!! SHE HAS A 10% CHANCE OF WINNING!!!! I understand the people in the remanning primaries want to be heard, but right now McCain is prancing around like he's already the president. He's getting an advantage!!! The only way she can win is if she wins something close to 60% of the remaining races, or if for some reason Obama becomes unelectable. It's not going to happen people!!! And if that happens all hell will break loose.

Why, did Obama say those things?

If you listen to what Senator Obama says when asked about Senator Clinton, he is polite and refrains from personal attacks. The majority of his supporters respect and emulate this behavior.

Every group of people has a fringe element that doesn't follow the mores of the group. They take jabs at the 'other side', and sometimes go over the line. Here in the Huffington Post, where it is 'safe' to make over the line comments (no threat of physical violence), you see a lot of this, from boths sides, and from third parties (Republicans).

Don't make the mistake of thinking the personal attacks voiced here are representative of any of the groups involved. If you are making decisions about your vote based on inflammatory comments, please rethink your decision.

Hillary. Selfish. Greedy. Upset. Emotional. And tearing apart the Democratic party. She really thought her nomination was going to be a cakewalk. Sort of like the neocons did in terms of Iraq. Iraq became a nightmare and so is her candidacy.

I'm a guy and I think Hillary Rocks! She is absolutely right, millions of voters still want to cast their vote. And Hillary has everything Americans are looking for. It's called grit and determination! Facing Adversity head on! Prid in her country! In one word, it's called: LEADERSHIP!!!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:46 AM on 03/30/2008

Thank you -- you said it!!! Millions of people know she is a leader. She can and would get things done. She is strong and that is just what we need today. We don't need slogans...empty promises...we need true leadership!!! Again, thank you for saying it so well!!!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:52 AM on 03/30/2008

Empty words? Like lying about her personal experiences, delaying her financial records, indictments she's facing later this year, and the rest of the laundry list of controversy that surrounds her? True leadership is judgment. She supported this god-forsaken war..not once, but twice. Her own top adviser helped create the sub prime crisis that she "fights against". Hillary supporters keep treating her like a war hero for having to stand up to the same transparency that her opponent has openly given. 2 months to produce tax returns?? Bill deliberately blocking financial donations to his library?? Leaving the white house, millions in debt, only to be worth nearly $50 mil now? Stiffing small businesses that catered her events to the tune of $8 mil? Currently in debt with her campaign with 10 more primaries to go, while her opponent has spent a fraction as much as she has and is STILL ahead?

How many things are you Hillary supporters willing to overlook before you see that she's corrupt to the very core, and the only way she can win is by, once again, cheating? Everyone else is seeing it...you need to as well.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:27 AM on 03/30/2008

Millions of voters want to cast their vote? Who cares about the millions who have already cast their vote, and have cast it in favor of Obama. Their votes don't matter unless they voted for Hillary??? It's all about Hillary. She may as well run as an independent at this point, because she has pretty much thumbed her nose at the Democratic party.

exactly that is why obama is winning and will still be winning at the end of the voting - please articulate how the people are going to select hrc as their candidate - when the people have given obama a lead that is uncatchable by any reasonable analysis - that is her position that the people should decide

It's called "CHEATING" when somebody agrees to the rules, and then demands that the rules be changed when she realizes she is losing. If HC supporters want to equate that with leadership, that is their business, but don't expect us to respect their reasons for choosing her.

I just watched CNN where some Hillary-duped whiners were complaining because the caucuses were dominated by "zealots." Yeah, "zealots" are people who are willing to devote 2 to 4 hours once every four damn years to participating in a democratic process to select the next president of the United States. NOBODY IS BARRED FROM ATTENDING CAUCUSES. If Hillary is getting the slam-bam-thank-you-mam- voters who get the whole thing over with in 5 minutes, then good for her. But to minimize the caucus goers as zealots, when they tend to be among the INFORMED and the willing to invest their time and energy is absurd. She and her supporters would do better to try to figure out why those who are willing to devote time and energy to making the best choice possible are opting to support SOMEBODY ELSE.

she doesn't have "everything americans are looking for," that's why she is struggling in the polls and has only won less than 15 states. america is a country of 50 states and dc, not just ny or cali. Uniting the country means having support in more than half the states (which she doesn't have). right now she's just a spoiler. no more clintons in the white house. it's time for other last names to be in the history books

Wayne,

The best response to your rather odd support of Hillary is Peggy Noonan's recent piece on Hillary. Here's an excerpt,

by Peggy Noonan

"I think we've reached a signal point in the campaign. This is the point where, with Hillary Clinton, either you get it or you don't. There's no dodging now. You either understand the problem with her candidacy, or you don't. You either understand who she is, or not. And if you don't, after 16 years of watching Clintonian dramas, you probably never will.

That's what the Bosnia story was about. Her fictions about dodging bullets on the tarmac -- and we have to hope they were lies, because if they weren't, if she thought what she was saying was true, we are in worse trouble than we thought -- either confirmed what you already knew (she lies as a matter of strategy, or, as William Safire said in 1996, by nature) or revealed in an unforgettable way (videotape! Smiling girl in pigtails offering flowers!) what you feared (that she lies more than is humanly usual, even politically usual).

But either you get it now or you never will. That's the importance of the Bosnia tape."

I think you're absolutely right, she does have a certain type of "leadership". Unfortunately, it's the type of "leadership" best suited to laundering money for a Mafia crew, or leading the charge against imaginary snipers. Do we want more of that crap, after 8 years of Bush/Cheney?

Until one of them gets 2025 delegates this race is not over remember what that wimp Dean who is running this cluster fuck said Rules are Rules. I think that for the sake of the party Obama should drop out of the race he is the weaker one in it. I base this on the fact that most of the states that he's won will vote for McCain come November and I dare anyone to challenge that fact.

The Clintons are holding the Democratic Party hostage. It's a win-win situation for Liary. She gets to play the odds on her 10% chance of winning (which her own advisers gave), and gives her the opportunity to drag this out to destroy Obama while positioning herself for 1012..As her special bonus and gift to the Democratic party, she and Bill can daily praise their friend McCain.

She may not have planned for after Feb 5th, but the writings on the wall what her back up plan is now, and the powers that be know it. They are on tender hooks because one bad move on their part will cause huge problems for the Party. Other calamities in history would be like a cake walk when compared to the Clinton's revenge.
