Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton told the Washington Post in an interview published Saturday that she would stay in the Democratic Presidential Race until the convention:

In her most definitive comments to date on the subject, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton sought Saturday to put to rest any notion that she will drop out of the presidential race, pledging in an interview to not only compete in all the remaining primaries but also continue until there is a resolution of the disqualified results in Florida and Michigan.

A day after Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean urged the candidates to end the race by July 1, Clinton defied that call by declaring that she will take her campaign all the way to the Aug. 25-28 convention if necessary, potentially setting up the prolonged and divisive contest that party leaders are increasingly anxious to avoid.

"I know there are some people who want to shut this down and I think they are wrong," Clinton said in an interview during a campaign stop here Saturday. "I have no intention of stopping until we finish what we started and until we see what happens in the next 10 contests and until we resolve Florida and Michigan. And if we don't resolve it, we'll resolve it at the convention -- that's what credentials committees are for.

"We cannot go forward until Florida and Michigan are taken care of, otherwise the eventual nominee will not have the legitimacy that I think will haunt us," said the senator from New York. "I can imagine the ads the Republican Party and John McCain will run if we don't figure out how we can count the votes in Michigan and Florida."

Asked if there was a scenario in which she would drop out before the last primaries on June 3, Clinton said no. "I am committed to competing everywhere that there is an election," she said.

The big states count except when they don't.

Only half the counting is done, as they had to re-do it, so it might be a bit premature for you to make that statement.

half the counting is done, since the clintons are stalling to prevent the real results from surfacing... they already know she lost, but don't want the rest of us to know it, yet.

We've had enough of certain democrats worring about what the republicans will say. Thats the problem with Hillary, she worried about what they would say if she didn't vote for the war. We get nowhere if our actions are dependant on what the Repugs think. Sorry Hillary, you'll have to come up with a better reason than that.

Let's just relax a minute. We have 5 more months until the convention. Anything can happen. The Rethugs can find some horrible Godzilla skeleton in Barack's closet, and, if Hillary has already quit, how does she unquit? We Americans will tolerate a loser, but never a quitter. As for McCain, Muqtada al-Sadr will keep the violence in Iraq at an insufferable level, and make damn sure Old Foggy Bottom doesn't get elected. So, please... just relax. Everything will be alright. Barack on, America!!!!!!!!!

She's a candidate. She's in it to win it, as she should be. She's raised millions dollars, has millions of supporters and over a thousand delegates. She's a leader with great policies for our country. I would hope that women across America are proud. Let her play if she wants - she's definitely earned it. By the way, I'm leaning toward Obama.

The Clintons are perpetuating their own worst stereotypes about themselves.

There goes the Democratic party. She is ignoring the latest NBC/WSJ poll which shows that only 35 per cent of the people view her favorably, her lowest rating since 2001. She is unelectable but will continue demonizing Obama with her vicious tongue until he is unelectable, too. Spoiled Hillary is saying that if she can't have the nomination, no one else will. And the Democratic party be damned.

Hillary's "memory" seems to be the one that's problematic. File Gate, Travel Gate, Sniper Fire, Terry McAuliffe instituting the rule against seating illegal delegations, way back in 2004. Irish peace talks. You name it, she's misrepresented it, spinned it, lied about it.

Another word Norman Hsu (2 words actually :) )....
You cant seriously think that BO has more scandals in his closet than the Clintons? This race should be about who will be a better President and more honest.. two yardsticks Hillary clearly fails to even come close to Obama...

Obama-Bill Clinton 08.. thats what I would like to see.. but then again maybe Obama-Colbert 08? nah.. how about Obama-Kennedy?

Back tacha...PeterPaul..only YOUR candidate is going up on campaign fraud charges.

But honestly to be fair about that article about Williams, I think i nonsense that it is even being brought up. Are the candidates giong to be held responsible for every person every one they know knows? Where do you draw the line at guilt by association.

Unlike the Clinton campaign which has to make mountains out of molehills to try to smear Obama with scary innuendo, no one needs to point out who Maggie worked for to make Clinton look like a hypocrite. She is the poster child for hypocrites, after all.

You Obama supporters are truly pathetic. Everything you say about Hillary boomerangs right back in your face ten-fold:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/gerald-mcentee/obama-and-his-subprime-su_b_93778.html

What's going on now is another pre-NH, pre-SuperTuesday, pre-OhioTexas media campaign to once again sink Hillary. It will once again fail.

Only this time the backlash is going to hit a lot harder. This time the secret manipulators behind Obama's empty suit will be forced out into the open to face the public.

Who? Ted Kennedy is number one. Obama will be revealed to be the Kennedy-backed candidate whose only purpose is to stop Hillary Clinton. Kennedy will be revealed to be the hand that turned the switch on the Clintons are racists campaign. Obama will be seen to be the empty-suited stooge that he is - simply a slick front man for the Chicago political machine operating as an arm of the national Kennedy political machine.

Staying till the convention? Giving the Democrats 2 months to run in a general election? Exactly whose interests besides her own does this serve?

I can understand why she wants to stay in till all the votes have been cast in June. But this business about MI and FL has already been decided by the DNC and she agreed to it. This MI/FL business should never have happened, but it did.

Obviously, Clinton knows she can't win legitimately, so they're calling in all their favors in a desperate 'Hail Mary' pass, right over the heads of the voters, counting on their long-time superdelegate friends, and their buddies on the credentials committee to take it over the line. Is this what enfranchisement looks like? Think of it - people all around the world are watching this and asking - Is this what democracy looks like? We already are taken as fools for allowing Bush to steal his way into the Presidency and get us into an illegal war. Now we're allowing someone to use their connections to by-pass the people's vote. Talk about an international credibility problem!

If Hillary really cared about the voters and the Democratic party, she would acknowledge the outcome of the winner of the legitimate votes cast, and get on with the task of getting the Democratic people's choice elected in the general election. If she is not up to that task, then we need an intervention in June. Simple as that.

1992-2000: 22.7 million new jobs added by the Clintons

birth to present: number of new jobs added by Obama: ZERO.

Obama supporters know very little of the real world. That's why they are so naive and confused as events unfold.

Nah, nothing will change. Once her power trip is over she'll have to make nice with special interests who financed her campaign, like big pharma and Rupert Murdoch. Besides, she looks more and more like a little ankle biter frothing at the mouth but accomplishing nothing. Why is she still talking about MI and FL? It was agreed by all sides that those votes wouldn't count, and since they couldn't bring themselves to stage a revote their delegates won't be seated.
Let the rest of the primaries happen, and at the end take your pick of measurement. Number of states won, popular vote, or pledged delegates. The winner is the nominee.

Good for Senator Clinton that she plans to see her campaign through to its end! I, for one, say more power to her! If she is willing to fight against the open and ongoing assult against her from just about every media outlet, writer, talking head, etc., (including HuffPost), then she is proving strength and tenacity worthy of a leader!

It amazes me that Clinton is basically holding her own in this campaign in spite of the media's continual castigation of her. She has to work that much harder than her opponent who has been given a pass by the press throughout this primary process. Why has Obama so easily captured the spotlight when he really has so few credentials? What has he done that makes him qualified to be president? When you try to search out solid accomplishements to back up his oratorial rhetoric, there is very little of merit there. Yet in spite of a very weak track record, Obama continues to be the media's darling (much as Bush was during both his campaigns—in case people have forgotten that fact). I am tired of our leaders being chosen by the media—frankly, they have a lousy track record!!!!

So, I hope that Senator Clinton does stay in the race. And I hope she prevails!

The rule of not seating delegations from states who jumped the gun, was instituted by Terry McAuliffe himself, when he was DNC Chair, in 2004. Hillary Clinton knows full well, that this whole Mich. and Florida thing, is merely a game, a desperate attempt at making mischief, exactly when the party should be coming together around the candidate with the most votes and the most delegates.

It's deeply shocking and disappointing that Hillary would be willing to destroy her reputation, and the chances of a Democrat being elected in the fall, with this self-destructive and deluded act.

Before any of the caucuses or primaries took place, I looked at the list of candidates that announced their intention to compete for the nomination of the Democratic Party and thought I could vote for any of them in the November election. As time went by and the field narrowed to Obama and Clinton, I still thought I could accept either as the nominee. Even now, I could accept Hillary competing until the last June contest, giving states normally overlooked a chance to make a difference. However, with Clinton announcing her intention to stretch this out until the convention, even if she is still behind, I have absolutely no respect for this woman. We need to have a united party in November. We need these summer months to heal the wounds inflicted by both campaigns upon the electorate dividing us into two disparate camps. Now with Hillary's unquenchable thirst for power, I doubt this will happen. The Republicans that voted for her in the Texas and Ohio primaries as well as the upcoming states will abandon her. Independents will grow increasingly wary. Finally, many dyed-in-the-wool Democrats will find it difficult to overcome their revulsion for the Clinton machine to pull that lever, push that button, or fill in that bubble no matter how much they want a change from the Republicans. Hillary, you are welcome to compete until the last contest, but let's get this settled before July. We need to defeat the real opponent, John McCain.
