Hillary Clinton

Newsweek:

Some Democrats terrified that their bloody primary campaign will doom them in November are floating a consolation prize for Hillary Clinton: governor of New York.

The travails of New York Gov. David Paterson have opened up a new potential career path for Clinton, according to well-informed Democratic Party insiders who refused to allow their names to be used when discussing contingencies. They want her to consider the option if she concludes after the April 22 Pennsylvania primary that she cannot overtake Barack Obama for the party's presidential nomination. Hillary Clinton, while fully committed to continuing her presidential campaign, was said to be open to discussing the idea, while Bill Clinton rejected it out of hand.

As a NY resident, I don't want Hillary as my Senator anymore, and definitely not as Governor.

Her war vote, and the way she's mismanaged her campaign, going from "inevitable" to "sore loser" so quickly, and now the nastiness, implied racism, and trying to overide the will of the people with threatening letters from wealthy donors, proves to me that she deserves no power at all.

Go back to wherever you're from Hillary, and where is that really? Arkansas? NY? Chicago?

She's such a phony, and now she's in denial. Obama is the real deal.

It's very disconcerting that Hillary's "consolation prize" continues to involve the assumption that Barack Obama will lose to John McCain. This is the same strategy the Clinton's are using now, so how is this a compromise? She runs for governor so she can be the presidential frontrunner in 2012. And if Barack does not lose, does that mean we'll have to go through this frustrating process again, with Hillary challenging the incumbent, regardless of her electoral chances.

This is no compromise. This is just giving Hillary more options for 2012.

The harm being done by prolonging the inevitable is much more than just jeopardizing the Democratic Party’s chances of taking the Whitehouse. This daily catfight is also damaging our chances of strengthening our positions in the House and Senate. Think, Row v Wade, Social Security, Housing, etc. The sooner Obama can get out of Pennsylvania and campaign in the other states and congressional districts where we stand a chance of taking a seat away from an republican, the better. That gives us an opportunity to build a party campaign. With the daily focus on “he said” “she said” we loose momentum for the party. Republicans like Rush know this full well and hence his meddling. The only thing that is keeping Hillary and Bill running at this moment, given the infinitesimal chance they have of pulling this thing off, is their combined egos. The Super Delegates have got to take the scathing dress down from the Clintons that Richardson did, and stop this madness now. As for Ralph Nader, he is certifiably delusional. Put him in a managed care facility in the Alzheimer’s wing.

You know, I have to say that I am VERY afraid......of this poison that we are spewing at each other.....it is starting to look like we are all being manipulated against each other........I am a Obama supporter...and I easily could have been a Clinton supporter. The REASON...that I am not supporting Clinton now is that I KNOW Bill Clinton's real record.

African Americans have supported the Democratic party, and still do even as OUR KIND were left for DEAD in NEW ORLEANS....(BODIES STILL UNCLAIMED) We were called REFUGEES? OUR WOMEN :NAPPY HEAD HOES.... As an African American......I was torn......literally, until the words that Bill Clinton started speaking......then the surrogates...and now Rev. Wright.

This type "race baiting" in fighting minstrel show , carnival atmosphere......is not a good way to show the world that we are THE LEADERS of the free world! We have a third world VOTING SYSTEM.... WE HAVE A WAR ........with young women and men are DYING on a land far away.......from the families that they have left behind. Is real Democracy in its DEATH STRUGGLE? what are we saying to people of Color? are we saying that you can fight..............over seas...... survive a WAR......but we will stereo type you to DEATH at home? African Americans LOVE this GREAT NATION....even when it treats some of us shabby.....when votes are not counted....when people are patronized ........demonized....we L-O-V-E....AMERICA!

Hillary as governor of New York? Are you kidding me? Her only qualification in life is being Mrs. Bill Clinton. With all the mess in Albany, all New Yorkers need is the Clinton soap opera to mess it up even more.

Nice try to pawn off the unqualified Mrs. Clinton on the people of New York in a job that REQUIRES management and leadership. It's a work horse job, not like her show horse Senate post.

Get Real.

It is a mistake to offer the governorship of New York as a carrot to Hillary Clinton. Instead she should be spanked and sent back to Arkansas.

I love how the politicos just assume that if Hillary doesn't get the presidential nomination, that somehow the party operatives will "give" her the office of NY governor as a "consolation prize." Wait a minute, don't the NY voters have a say in all of this? Pataki proved that Democratic nominees are not necessarily a "shoo-in" for the office and I pray that if the above suggested scenario starts to take hold that the voters of New York will put a HUGE monkeywrench into the NY political machinery and send her back to Westchester. All this speculation over political musical chairs and the idea that Hillary is somehow "entitled" to a certain elected position is bull****. Whatever happened to EARNING your way to being elected?

This election season has been a perfect example of how what the insiders believe is "inevitable," the voters prove them wrong, again and again. Let's hope that trend continues.

I don't think she's a lock in New York; Bloomberg would be formidable. She should stay in the race and help mccain win the election, so we can emerge from the hundred years' war proud, patriotic and victorious, even if we're tens of trillions of dollars lighter.

Governor of the State Of New York... yes! She's perfect for Albany! She's got a lot less baggage than Spitzer or Patterson. And she's still within stricking distance of the presidency. I would vote for her in a heart beat. She should consider it.

are we DEMOCRATS or not??? Its funny that we would allow our party to be split by the Republicans! YES, THE REPUBS... they are causing all of this unnecessary tension and drama. You notice they are always the first to bring up brokered conventions... we take the bait! They bring up FL and MI... when Florida's Repubs moved up the election... and all parties agreed before hand that they would not count!!!

WAKE UP DEMOCRATS... wonder why they think we are the weaker party? Because we feed into their BS... Are we supposed to be afraid because they have ads waiting for our candidates? HELL NO! We expect it, if we don't, we are fools! The Rev Wright and Bosnia crap was egged on by the Repubs... they want to cast us as American hating, military insulting unpatriotic Liberals... stand firm for our party... no matter who our nominee is!

They are unpatriotic... allowing our brave men and women to die in Iraq over pure NONSENSE... today, its been reported some Iraqi army and police won't fight the militias because they are their people. hahaha... and you want to defect and support McCain who has vowed to keep this crap going? 22 billion taxpayers dollars were spent on this ludicrous idea of Iraq army... for what, so when battle come, they leave and leave our troops to cover their asses? BS....
Stop infighting... 7+ years of wreckless government is ENOUGH!!! McCain is Bush round 3

While I hope she drops out soon, I don't see her taking a state position with less national exposure than as a U.S. Senator.

I don't think her ego can accept that.
