Newsweek:

Some Democrats terrified that their bloody primary campaign will doom them in November are floating a consolation prize for Hillary Clinton: governor of New York.

The travails of New York Gov. David Paterson have opened up a new potential career path for Clinton, according to well-informed Democratic Party insiders who refused to allow their names to be used when discussing contingencies. They want her to consider the option if she concludes after the April 22 Pennsylvania primary that she cannot overtake Barack Obama for the party's presidential nomination. Hillary Clinton, while fully committed to continuing her presidential campaign, was said to be open to discussing the idea, while Bill Clinton rejected it out of hand.

I guess Newsweek forgot that a Governorship isn't something you can just hand out - she'd need to be elected by the people of NY. As a New Yorker, after the national campaign for Presidency she's run, I don't think she's going to be able to rely on name recognition this time. I like Patterson's style (TMI-ing the press before they have a chance to leap) and if he turns out to be a decent Governor, I'll be more than happy to keep him in the position rather than wrap it up for Hillary as a consolation prize.

Ha Ha Ha . Funny article by Jonathan Alter. Can't really take seriously Alter's recommendations. After all he is registering 99 out of 100 in the Clinton-Hater scale. (Don't forget that he was calling for HC to quit when BO was on the campaign trail claiming to be the underdog.)

She will do just fine in the Senate (unless Jonathan doesn't want her there). After all, Ted Kennedy is still around after the bruising fight with Carter in 1980. Has any one noticed that Ted is pretty much the only BO supporter not calling for Hil to pack it. Read about the 1980 elections and you will know why.

I am a strong supporter of Obama, but I would support Hillary for governor. There is a slight problem though. In case no one noticed, we (I'm a New Yorker) already have a governor, by name Paterson.
I think the best job for Hillary is to continue her career as a senator, until a Supreme Court opening occurs, preferably by Justice Ginsburg retiring, creating not only a vacancy but leaving the court without a female justice. A president Obama would probably think Hillary would be a good fit. Best part? It's for life, no need to fundraise or campaign. She may look fetching in a black pantsuit.

Newsweek is pondering Gore taking over as the democratic nominee and Time is talking about Hillary being NY Governor. Didn't they used to be news magazines? When did they branch out into fiction?

With record turnout and fundraising and excitement and optimism among Democrats this year, we want GORE to run again....why?

"Time," branched out into fiction around 1949, when they blamed Truman and the Democrats for "losing China." Or was it some years when they had Chiang Kai-shek on the cover, or earlier when it was Herbert Hoover, the economic genius?

yeah our Democracy is NOT Rigged...
So all they need to do is Run Out th eBlind Black Guy and they can hand NY to Hillary?
I'd say the People of NY have something to say about that!
who says they want HER as one of their Choices. who says they are Happy with her Performance in the Senate, the Armed Services.
The Dems have become as Arrogant as the Repugs.
We need More Sides To the Aisles- Red & Blue have proven to be as Patriotic as 'Trickle down" and NAFTA.
IT's time these two corrupt parties were silenced from our Political landscape.
the Dem Party has left Me - so I have NO Loyalityto Them. If they ALLOW US to nominate Obama _I will vote for him, If he leaves a goes to another Party I will vote for Him. If he takes the VP Position Iwill NOT for for theDems. The good old boys in blue should realize Obama is their last thread. I not only want indictments levied against this admin - but ALL who supported it- Red & BLUE. Then I want all the 'leading ' Dems who came up with the layer of Shitr called 'Super Delegates' indicted and certainly the Dems in MI who initiated the Primary Fraud! At this Point I'm color Blind and out for vengence

I wonder what would happen if any of the Democratic operatives who are worrying where to place HRC if she fails to become POTUS #44 worked to get a Democrat POTUS #44. This is yet another way Democrats snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory. At the moment the object of the game is to get a Democrat elected POTUS #44. Got that? There aren't any other games for Democrats. It's dishearting to see what happens when people who are dumber than I am are allowed to think that they are in an important position of trust.

Here's an idea, go back to New York and do the job you were elected to. Maybe you can
get yourself together enough to recover from your so far less than stellar voting record.
I hear the economy in western New York is still really depressed. I am sure your constituents
would appreciate your attention in this matter. Jobs are always a popular issue.
Your campaign is over in case you had not heard.

Why say HC "believes" Obama will lose to McCain when she is doing everything she can to offer the victory to McCain if she cannot win the nomination on her own ,or rather on their own. Two for the price of one.

Consolation prize? Screw you!

The more people try to hustle Hillary Clinton out of this race unfairly or before it's time, the more I will support her. Let the 10 remaining primaries happen, let Florida and Michigan vote, let superdelegates decide, and if after all that Obama has 2025 delegates, then I'll be the first one to to ask Sen. Clinton to step aside.

Until then, sit down, shut up, and let democracy take it's course. Barack Obama has not yet crossed the finish line.

Why should anybody "shut up?" Even those who want her to drop out have the right to say that, don't they?

And once he has 2025, it will be too late to ask her to step aside. Though it wouldn't be out of character for her to try a sitdown strike on the convention floor, claim the "elites" have stolen the election and sue the Democratic Party.

Clinton Is Done, The Math Does Not Add Up There Is No Way She Can Take The Lead In Delegates.

The "Only Way' Is For The Super Delegates To Over Ride The Vote Of The People.

So What Is The Point ?

The point is winning the nomination with 2024 delegate votes.

Neither Clinton or Obama has enough. It is up for grabs.

And, according to the math, Obama can't reach the 2025 number either.

Both Clinton and Obama will need superdelegates to reach that number.

Let all the remaining states vote, let Michigan and Florida vote, and we'll see who "the people" want.

Obama math. Don't you feel foolish repeating the same thing over and over that you hear from punditville?

Do the math for Obama. He also can't get there. This is exactly why the Democrats created the Superdelegates and have charmed them with the instructions to use their own good judgment when they cast their vote.

Read these boards and ask yourself if you really think these over-the-top emotional voters were thinking clearly when they cast their vote.

I agree that it will be very close to impossible to take the lead in pledged delegates. I also believe that only something disasterous would cause Obama not to maintain the lead going in to the convention.

I also believe the point is that no one has won. Obama is NOT our nominee, not matter how the predicted math might look. Party rules are party rules as we see with Florida and Michigan.

For once we don't have the early states decide who the nominee is going to be and everyone is crying foul: It's pretty pathetic that the system is designed to ignore the votes of a large part of the population don't ya think?

I don't know about you but I prefer to come in second than to have quit half way through the race.

The point is that it's not possible for Obama to get to 2025 without the superdelegates' votes either. Let the 10 remaining states vote. Let Florida and Michigan vote. And then we'll see who the (Popular) Vote of the people goes to.

The only reason she is still in the race is because of right wing dirty tricks. Rush Limbaugh urged his supporters to illegally crossover and vote for Hillary. They accounted for almost half her margin in Ohio, gave her the lead in Texas, and made up 25% of her support in Mississippi.

Right wing rogues in the Canadian government smeared Obama by falsely accusing him of being inconsistent on Nafta. These lies were discredited by the Canadian Prime Minister yet Clinton and her supporters keep repeating the right wing smear.

Why on earth would you want the right wing of the Republican party to to alter results of the Democratic primaries while at the same time ask that loyal Democrats refrain from fixing the mess the right wingers created?

It's obvious you only have one source for your slant on the news. Is it Rush you depend upon for your information?

If the Canadian Prime Minister has already concluded how the NAFTA deal came down, why is the Canadian government now investigating it? Last mention I saw of this in any media was that Obama, himself, admitted it was his campaign talking to the Canadians about NAFTA. Just waiting to see how the investigation comes out before I make my final assessment on the subject.

If Texas does the thorough investigation and criminal charges against all the thousands who voted in both R & D primaries, we'll find out if Rush had any influence on anything. For now, you're just an extension of the entertainment channels.

"The only reason she is still in the race is because of right wing dirty tricks. Rush Limbaugh urged his supporters to illegally crossover and vote ..."

Ok, first of all if it was illegal they couldn't have voted, right?

Second, she's in the race because people keep voting for her. If they didn't there would be no race, right?

"These lies were discredited by the Canadian Prime Minister yet Clinton and her supporters keep repeating the right wing smear."

Really? I thought it was factual that an Obama surrogate met with the Canadians, but Obama just didn't admitt it until later? My bad.

Here are the exit poll numbers given by the Boston Globe:
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/03/17/many_voting_for_clinton_to_boost_gop/
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For a party that loves to hate the Clintons, Republican voters have cast an awful lot of ballots lately for Senator Hillary Clinton: About 100,000 GOP loyalists voted for her in Ohio, 119,000 in Texas, and about 38,000 in Mississippi, exit polls show.
I find that the Party Insiders are a bit cocky to think that first HRC would accept the Gov job and second, that the voters of NY will automatically give her the stamp of approval. Taking her electability for granted is what got her well behind Obama in the current race.
