Hillary Clinton

Newsweek:

Some Democrats terrified that their bloody primary campaign will doom them in November are floating a consolation prize for Hillary Clinton: governor of New York.

The travails of New York Gov. David Paterson have opened up a new potential career path for Clinton, according to well-informed Democratic Party insiders who refused to allow their names to be used when discussing contingencies. They want her to consider the option if she concludes after the April 22 Pennsylvania primary that she cannot overtake Barack Obama for the party's presidential nomination. Hillary Clinton, while fully committed to continuing her presidential campaign, was said to be open to discussing the idea, while Bill Clinton rejected it out of hand.

We don’t want her! This two-time voter for Hillary (senatorial elections) will never again cast any vote for her at any level, national, state, or local. To donate or not to donate (to the Republican opposition), that is the question.

Throw in New Jersey and Connecticut, then see if Bill changes his mind.

Alter is probably on to something here. With so many senators endorsing Obama, and with Leahy coming right out and calling for her to abandon her campaign, it appears as though Hillary is being sent the message that she can forget Senate Majority Leader. I seriously doubt, though, that she would be happy about dealing with a GOP state legislature. No, if there's a 2nd place prize for the Ice Queen, it'll have to Sec'y General of the UN. And THAT'S a position that even republicans could get behind.

Ugggghh! It's bad enough having Clinton representing NY in Washington. Having her in Albany wouldn't be any better. Uugghh won't "that woman," and her gawd awful husband ever go away?

I'd hope she would stay on as senator and become an actual democratic senator and not a thug party enabler. If she did it right, she could become an actual elder in the Democratic party leadership over the years and actually do some good.

I wouldn't count on it. Patterson's TMI-level of transparency is a strategy to prevent the blackmail and expose journalism that would force him to resign. Besides, he hasn't done anything worse than Bill Clinton yet.

Patterson's not going to resign. There won't be a special election. Hillary's just running for McCain's VP.

Mario Cuomo's son is supposedly waiting in the wings too. I can't see him being shoved aside by a carpetbagger.

Press Release

January 30, 2009

President John McCain thanks Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton for all of her support by nominating her to the Supreme Court. Justice Clinton repays the democratic party by being more rightwing than Scalia.

This is an unsourced, made-up story that should never have been posted here.

You Obama folks are so desperate for Clinton to drop out, that we can almost smell your fear. I guess you're not confident that Wonder Boy will win the remaining primaries, or that he will emerge squeaky-clean from the Rezko trial now in progress. Or maybe you want his nomination sealed before Larry Sinclair's lurid sex-and-drug tales get some traction.

Excuse me? Hillary is said to be open to the option, BUT Bill rejected it out of hand????? This says a whole lot about Billary's campaign. This is about the pair of them, together, running for president. Bill wants back in the White House and he's using his wife to get there. If he had anything other than self-serving motives in this campaign, he'd support whatever choices Hillary wanted to make and keep his opinions to himself.

I used to think he was sabotaging her campaign and really didn't want her to win, because it would diminish him in some way. Now, I think he wants to win simply to get back at all of those former Clinton friends who have done them wrong. Again, it's all about what is best for the Clintons. To hell with what's best for our country.

THE REAL QUESTION...

Will Obama even be viable as Governor of Illinois in 2010 after losing either this primary to Hillary, or the general election to McCain? This is of course also assuming he turns down Hillary's offer for him to be her VP should she be the nominee (Clinton/Obama is possibly the only winning Democratic ticket left). As a Clinton supporter, I'm humble enough to admit she would have a better chance of winning with him on the ticket.

Too bad, so many of Obama's supporters see his path to the nomination, but fail to see he has no path to the White House without her. Obama's supporters are living in a bubble. They just don't see that this guy is unelectable as President. Maybe he can regain the trust of a broad cross-section of America after serving eight years as VP, but he ain't gonna have the support this November. No way.

So, if we're gonna consider plan-b scenarios, Obama and his supporters better open their eyes, too.

Umm....no. I think NY needs a governor who actually cares about the people, not power and ways to abuse it. After seeing how she has run her campaign, what should have been a financial juggernaut, into the dirt, and how she surrounded herself with cronies rather than competent advisors, I really don't want to see what she would do to the state of NY.

Besides, we all know she just wants the power of the White House, and the fame of being the US's first female president, she doesn't want to do the hard work, warming a seat in the Senate for 7 years and introducing (and then abandoning) legislation for just for bragging rights was a big enough hassle for her.
