Newsweek:

Some Democrats terrified that their bloody primary campaign will doom them in November are floating a consolation prize for Hillary Clinton: governor of New York.

The travails of New York Gov. David Paterson have opened up a new potential career path for Clinton, according to well-informed Democratic Party insiders who refused to allow their names to be used when discussing contingencies. They want her to consider the option if she concludes after the April 22 Pennsylvania primary that she cannot overtake Barack Obama for the party's presidential nomination. Hillary Clinton, while fully committed to continuing her presidential campaign, was said to be open to discussing the idea, while Bill Clinton rejected it out of hand.

Yeah right and Obama could be Lt. Governor and Rev. Wright could be Attorney General and we'll all live happily ever after.

You thought your reply was so clever. Do you watch the news? Why is Spitzer no longer the governor?

This entire story is so typical of today's entertainment media. The race that is underway is for the democratic nominee for president.

Ye s Yes, give Hillary the governorship of New York, they created the mess when they elected the carpet bagger as Senator, so now let them deal with her in the aftermath. They wanted her and they got her so now let them keep her.

With Bill’s proclivity for sex scandals wouldn’t he be a better choice. Seems to be a pre-requisite for N.Y. governor.

God yes - Governor of NY, Supreme Court Justice, Miss Universe - anything! Give her any position she wants - just not the Presidency. I do not want that deranged woman to be the most powerful person on Earth.

It's exactly this kind of comment that will cause Clinton supporters to either vote independent or not at all if obama is given the nomination.

That's fine, Goober Nation deserves 8 more years of old scar face. I would gladly vote for McCain if the HillBillies are the other choice. This would be both a punishment vote for the Democratic Party and a grudge vote against the forces of this dishonorable sleaze ball.

Do you need cheese to go with that whine? What was it Bill said the other day? If a politician does not want to get jabbed, he should get out of politics.

Wow, really? I didn't know that Clinton supporters cared so little about the issues in this election. I thought they supported her because of her policies on health care, the economy, and the occupation in Iraq.
If what you say is true, it would lead me to believe we live in a country of silly, shallow people whose feelings are more easily bruised than an overripe tomato.
But hey, what do I know. I intend to vote based on my hopes for the future of this country, not some imagined slight in a message board. I must be old-fashioned.

But only after they unleash their "pick Hillary or we'll hold our breaths until we turn blue" strategy.

Frankly, if a blog posters comment, no matter how snarky, will sway your vote that easily, you're not doing your job as a responsible voter.

"that deranged woman"?

Please think about what caused you to describe Sen. Clinton in those words.

That's easy for you to say, you don't live in New York.

I don't think she can even win a governership in NY after all she has done during this campaign.

If she continues the battle into August then I would totally agree with you. But if she backs out gracefully in April and actively helps heal the damage she has done then I think she would have a very good chance.

The way I feel right now, I would actively support any Democrat who challenges her for her Senate seat. If the challenger puts up a web site asking for donations, I'd send them money. But if she puts the good of the Democratic party above her own political aspirations in time for us to heal the wounds then all will be forgiven.

It wouldn't make sense to give her the VP spot after she and her husband both endorsed McCain over Obama but the governorship of New York is reasonable. And hey, we might was well keep all the Democratic sex scandals confined to New York State where Democratic support is so strong, they won't seriously threaten the Democratic majority.

President Obama should consider her for Secretary of Education. Churchill knew to be Magnanimous in victory.

hmmmm, for this plan to work, and for Hillary to run in 2012, then McCain needs to win in 'o8......
How does she assure that , that takes place ?

Let's see, he is experienced or so I have heard from her and Bill.

Did anybody bother to ask the people of NY if they w3anted her.?Probably not because they haven't yet figured out that the American people have decided their votes will decide this time.

One wonders whether there is anyone that can advise Hillary, who is not invested in her winning the Presidency. It can be incredibly hard for those who've spent a year of their lives on a campaign, to be objective about the chances of their candidate winning and the possible damage to the party, if they continue on.

Hillary needs to talk to someone who has no personal interest in her winning, and who will provide guidance, as to what her options are and ultimately, what is best for her. Contrary to what she may believe, at this point, her current course of action is self destructive. The longer she stays in the race, the more her reputation with the Dems will suffer. If she is in any way blamed for a loss, either of the Presidency, or seats in Congress in the fall, her political life, will essentially be over.

If the Governorship becomes available, it would be an ideal role for her. And since NYers are her strongest supporters, it's likely that it would be acceptable to the voters, as well.

You're completely wrong on this one. Becoming President of the United States is not an objective endeavor -- it's the most subjective thing you could ever vie for. You typically get one shot at it, so you proceed with a closed mind -- you don't look for people to advise you how to quit, you find people willing to fight with you. There's nothing objective about the idea that one person should be responsible for the course of 300 million to begin with.

What you and many others seem to miss is that this isn't an interview for a minor promotion at work with the possibility of a 4% pay raise, this is a fight for the most powerful office in the world -- an office occupied by one person -- a subjective endeavor.

Objectivity is the first casualty of this war.

She might as well go for it. Be fun for this NYer to see the battle of Hillary vs Rudy that we missed in the Senate campaign due to Rudy's illness. Besides, she's got nothing to lose. She's lost her place among Democrats in the Senate, that's for sure. I won't vote for her again.

Hillary would make a great governor. It's just her strength and tenancity that New York needs to get it's house in order!

Really nothing expressed here is obscene about Hillary so you censors should let it be allowed and not censored.
