Hillary Clinton

Newsweek:

Some Democrats terrified that their bloody primary campaign will doom them in November are floating a consolation prize for Hillary Clinton: governor of New York.

The travails of New York Gov. David Paterson have opened up a new potential career path for Clinton, according to well-informed Democratic Party insiders who refused to allow their names to be used when discussing contingencies. They want her to consider the option if she concludes after the April 22 Pennsylvania primary that she cannot overtake Barack Obama for the party's presidential nomination. Hillary Clinton, while fully committed to continuing her presidential campaign, was said to be open to discussing the idea, while Bill Clinton rejected it out of hand.

Whatever.

Since Hillary LONGS to run a campaign against Sen. McCain, I think she should move

to AZ and run against him for the Senate. We only want to make her as happy as she had made

so many regular Dem voters. :- /

In other words, "You'll never be rid of me!"

Pennsylvanians, please end this mess on April 22. New Yorkers, you'll have at least one chance to end her career of lies and destruction. Please don't let yourselves down.

I feel she should be offered a swift hard kick in the ass to leave the party and never return. And take her dispicable husband with her.

Where are all Clinton's shrill, angry supporters, the people who threaten to torch the Democratic Party if her coronation is somehow thwarted? This one must have them puzzled. With their voracious sense of entitlement, maybe they are trying to figure a way Clinton can be president AND governor.

Clinton will continue as a Senator from NY even if she loses the nominaton. Then she can go back and do her real job and represent her citizens - not the big bucks contributors - and finally push for badly needed progressive changes in our country. Becoming a governor would be a downgrade for her. Besides, with the scandals as to Spitzer and Paterson, as well as much of the state outside of NY City mainly Republican and supports less money to NY City and massive tax cuts, I suspect the Republicans will finally find a decent canidate to challange any Democrat ans possibly win over any Democrat in a special or regular election.

I second that emotion! She has done nothing for our state. I tried to get healthcare for myself and husband via the State's website. We are unemployed, and can't afford the cobra payments. We would have to sell our house, and use all our life savings before getting the affordable healthcare that the state can arrange for the unemployed.
What was that? She want's universal healthcare? Why didn't she try to get something started in her own state??? And remember, we are a state that supposedly 'counts'. HAH!!!

Why is she being offered anything? Since when do the losers get a consolation prize? I for one don't buy into the Hillary hype of 'entitlement' to the Presidency. She hasn't been cheated out of a trophy, for crissakes. She LOST fair and square. She lost to a man who no one gave any chance of winning a few months ago. It hurts her pride, I'm sure, but she doesn't deserve to be offered anything in return for running a lousy campaign. Please....

I DIDN'T REALIZE OBAMA WON YET ,,DOES HE HAVE 2025 DELEGATS? HE'S THE GUY THAT DOESN'T WANT THE PEOPLE OF FLORIDA AND MICHIGAN TO HAVE A VOTE ,,,, ITS THE SEVENTH INNING AND THE OBAMAISTS WANT TO CALL THE GAME AFRID THEIR GUY CAN'T FINISH

SHOUT MUCH???

He'll finish just fine, thanks. He responds pretty well to things like kitchen sinks being thrown at him.

The point is that this is not baseball. It's more like football. There is a clock, and it's going to run out before she can catch him. She's losing 16-15 right now, but if she stays in all the way and tries everything she can do to stop him at any cost, she'll end up losing 25-23 or something like that. Whatever.

You do understand that if she were to drop out of the race her delegates would not automatically default to Obama, don't you? Take your same claims that Hillary has lost, apply the same math to Obama's numbers, and tell everyone how he has won.

I'm thinking you either aren't old enough to vote, or you're a Republican with the logic you show.

Why would she want to be a governor (especially with the tough crowd in Albany) rather than be a Senator from New York?

It seems like the latter has (1) more prestige, (2) more visibility (nationally and internationally), and more opportunities to be in the history books for something worthwhile.

I know the common wisdom says that governors have more electability for President, but that's not NEW YORK governors. Hillary would be better staying in the Senate as one of the top leaders of the party. It's a much more rewarding and exciting place, career-wise.

When she looses and has to return to the senate, she is gonna be uncomfortable around colleagues who just got finished ruining her presidential hopes. There could be bad blood. And she may retaliate against a President Obama with mischief as the Senate Majority Leader.

While I certainly commend your logic, perfectly sound observations, it is possible that the Senate Club has started to hint to her that she is no longer welcome...and she may not relish the thought of President Obama ignoring her at every turn.

Now, why Albany would be any more welcoming is a separate question. But it is an executive, rather than legislative, job, and that may be the appeal.

While a governorship is indeed an executive position, and a good one for someone seeking a national stage, it would be a step back for Sen. Clinton. Y'all on the left need to quit worrying and let the process play out, like it's supposed to. Barry or the Shrill will be your nominee, unless there's a total breakdown in Denver and someone is drafted--which I consider highly unlikely. It's funny to me that the Democrats felt both Gore and Kerry quit too early, yet they are now asking Hillary to do that very same thing...quit early.

the difference is "quit early" against the Rethugs as opposed to against your own Party

Offers like this are part of the process playing out the way it is supposed to.

The only reason Hillary is still in this race is because of the right-wing dirty tricks of Rush Limbaugh and the rogues in the Candian government who spread the Nafta-gate smear right before the Texas and Ohio primaries. Once your candidacy for the nomination relies on dirty tricks from the opposition party, it is way past time to quit. Kerry and Gore gave in to the right wing dirty tricks too quickly. The difference is like night and day.

NR:

Ya really haven't been listening... Numbers, numbers, numbers - Obama supporters are growing everywhere.

People are more than tired of the old rovian, potshot, take out the knees, negative type of bs political attacks.

Some Clinton shills here seem to be delusional and are posting all sorts of lies about the pastor, about mathmatics, about professorships, about donations, etc, etc, etc.

They are lies.

SAY/THINK SOMETHING POSITIVE FOR a CHANGE!

they are calling for her to quit because they are afraid to see just how bad Rev Wright has hurt Obama in PA. If she wins BIG there, it will show that Rev Wright was a bigger problem than the pundits currently think.

After her loss and her dirty campaign, I doubt very much that she would get any respect at all from the Senators. Oh they will perform the expected courtesies, but aside from being untrustworthy, she is toast and has earned her disrespect. She has diminished herself and no one else is to blame, but Bill and Hillary. They have also dragged their daughter down into the slime pit with them.

You obviously have no understanding how power flows in Washington D.C.

Hillary isn't dimished. Some suggest she will become Majority Leader if she loses the nomination. That would suggest her power is only growing.

You are absolutely right. Hillary has diminished her own stature and credibility with her lies, willingness to use Rovian tactics against Obama, her attacks on Richardson et al and her praise of McCain. She lost this campaign back in February and the longer she stays engaged the more damage she does the democratic party's chances of winning the White House and most importantly, more seats in congress. Obama needs to be out on the hustings helping congressmen and women raise money, attract attention and build a national campaign for the democratic party. Instead he is and the democratic party is stimied by this daily cat fight. Her campaign is no longer for the presidency; it's all about her and Bill's egos. Enough!

Using your over-achieving math skills, please tell us how Obama won this race. He's ahead, and there are 12 more states to be counted, plus the territories, and Texas is under investigation, but he's far from declaring himself the winner.

Perhaps if the pundits you are so dependent upon for your opinions would try to stay focused on real news, these state elections wouldn't get away with slow investigations on their fraudulent voters, and we might actually have a more honest view of how this race is going.
