Clinton Is Staying In

Washington Post:

In her most definitive comments to date on the subject, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton sought Saturday to put to rest any notion that she will drop out of the presidential race, pledging in an interview to not only compete in all the remaining primaries but also continue until there is a resolution of the disqualified results in Florida and Michigan.

A day after Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean urged the candidates to end the race by July 1, Clinton defied that call by declaring that she will take her campaign all the way to the Aug. 25-28 convention if necessary, potentially setting up the prolonged and divisive contest that party leaders are increasingly anxious to avoid...

...Her remarks come as Clinton faces a mounting drumbeat, driven by the campaign of Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) and his backers, for her to bow out and avert a party crisis. Obama's supporters argue that he is too far ahead in pledged delegates for Clinton to catch up; Clinton counters by saying that neither of them has secured the 2,024 delegates needed for the nomination.

Hillary and Bill Clinton have lost this election. Yes, Bill Clinton as well. He has been Hillary's unofficial running mate. The American people have spoken. We want change. Hillary and Bill are apart of the old boys network. The Clinton administration is responsible for many of the problems the American people are suffering from today. The Clinton's are responsible for NAFTA and the free trade agreement with China. By signing this agreement into law, the American people have lost so many jobs that we are in a national crisis. The Corporations can ship our jobs overseas without loyalty or penalty. What happen to the tariffs? For the love of our country and the American people, why didn't Bill protect our jobs? We always question patriotism. It is not patriotic to take jobs away from hard working Americans. Hillary was a part this free trade. She spoke out in support of NAFTA. How many of us have lost our jobs, home and medical resulting in our inability to support our family. We are strong patriotic Americans. Don't we deserve policticans who feel and practice keeping America strong? NAftA and the free trade agreement, without Tarriffs has devasted America and has reduced us to a third world country. Now ask yourself, do the Clinton sound like patriots or an extention of Corporate greed? You be the judge. This being said DEAN should force Hillary to drop out of this election !

The Clintons are responsible for the free trade agreement with China, because the Clintons were on the Board of Directors at Walmart.

Here's the Math: China = Walmart = Clintons

Just came in from Wal Mart; great store, great products & great prices.

I can only assume that you have a problem with imported goods, especially those from China.

American companies would be in rough shape if foreign countries refused to accept our products.

At the time that Hillary was on the board of Walmart, Sam Walton was still alive.

In those days, Walmart's theme was "Buy American" and their shelves were filled with American products. That changed when Sam passed on.

= $500,000 Walmart Donation to Clinton Foundation....

Yes, just follow the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I wonder IF that is why we haven't seen HRC's earmarks (type in Clinton earmarks here on HuffPo to read why HRC's earmarks were GIFTS which kept on GIVING to HER)

And, WHY we haven't seen any Income Tax returns since the Clintons left the WH with over 1/4 Million in Legal fee debt......

Now, she can easily "loan" her campaign $5 Million from THEIR joint account.....

Follow the $$$$$

Deluged with calls to quit? She's raised 2 million dollars in less than 36 hours which means the voices that really matter are saying "keep going".

Attention Obama supporters: Your candidate has said that Clinton should continue to run as long as she wants and he's ask you to stop with all the personal attacks and rhetoric but you wouldn't know that from the posts here would you? You guys stink at follow the leader!

Obama must be sorely embarrassed by the rabid, hysterical, vitriolic, spiteful, hateful supporters his campaign has attracted.

I'm sure the candidate wouldn't allow himself to be within 100 miles of the average one of them.

I agree with Hillary and Bill - she should not get out quite yet. For years I had wondered WHY conservative talk shows and others on the right had such a hatred for the Clintons....I really need for them to stay a bit longer because I am beginning to understand the hatred conservatives have been talking about all these years. By the way the Clintons lie, throw the 'kitchen sink' and care nothing about the Democratic party - I should be just about fully 'understanding' of that hatred by the beginning of May. So I vote that Clinton stays in the race until after the Indiana primary, then she needs to step away and clean up her act.

That's an interesting take. Basically, the more we get to know the HRC, the less we like her. Hmm.

So in essence, we should encourage her to stay in, because the longer she does, the more of her own supporters she alienates.

I agree based on my own personal exeriences. The longer that this has gone on, the more I'm running into Obama supporters that were Hillary supporters but have been turned off by the Clinton tactics and lies. In the beginning of this campaign, I never saw people who switched sides, but now I'm seeing it more and more.

The HP is so in the tank for BHO that it screams headlines about calls for Hillary's withdrawal, without bothering to mention those calls are from the followers of her opponent in the race.
The BHO campaign has made very clear that it cannot even unite Democrats. How could he unite the country?
BHO continues to claim that he has the nomination; but he cannot win enough delegates to win the nomination. Instead, he claims, he has won because he is ahead in pledged delegates.
He has finally woken up to the reality that his unseemingly calls for Hillary to withdraw expose his arrogance, his sense of entitlement, and his haughty view of "typical white people."
Too bad all this didn't come out earlier in the campaign, before the teenagers formed a crush on the golden child.

I happen to be a 67 year old teenager. I'll vote for Obama any day of the week, he is more mature and isn't a pouty little brat like Hillary. I can imagine what kind of person she was when she was young. She would take her marbles and go home. You wil find out how she is destroying this country, only it will be to late. It's people like you that got us to where we are now and here we go again. If you think obma can't win enough delegates, you must not read, he is ahead of her and getting more in Texas as we speak.

She may as well stay in the race; she has no other place to go. She's alienated other Democratic members of Congress by promoting John McCain; she's alienated so many people who formerly supported her (remember that MoveOn.org was formed to help the country get over the Lewinsky scandal; they now support Obama), she has alienated many feminists who once thought she was above playing the "victim" card; she's alienated those who opposed the Iraq occupation; she's alienated many members of the Democratic Party (except for a few rich contributors); the list of former supporters continues to grow. I can't see her accomplishing a lot as a Senator. If she becomes governor of New York, she will be viewed as having pushed Governor Paterson out of the way for her own self image. It's a "no win" situation--for the Democratic Party and for those of us who are sick to death of the Bush regime. Until recently, the sight of Bush/Cheney/Rove had the ability to make my blood pressure spike; now I see HRC on the screen, and I have to mute her as well. Sigh...

You are totally correct lcmartin. Also, she has alienated voters from small states, red states, and caucus states by saying that these states are undemocratic and don't matter. How can you expect these states to vote for her in the general election??? Moreover a lot of these states are battleground purple states that can be won by democrats in the general election--IA, WI, MN, CO, VA, NV etc.

The best defense against the Obama campaign's all out assault on Hillary Clinton is for her supporters to donate, donate, donate until we leave the Obamaphiles in the dust. The grossly misleading headline to this article slapped up by the Huffington Post should be worth at least a $50 donation by every Clinton supporter before midnight 3/31.

Btw, the headline on Wapo for the original article was "Clinton Vows To Stay in Race To Convention."

But then we all know that the Obama campaign and his supporters will do anything to win.

Not superdelegates, do you really think the Democrats are going to risk a 2000 type result by choosing the loser? Where were you on day one sweetie? The media, especially CNN have romanced clinton since day one. Drudge practically made a fool out of himself supporting her. He finally had to shut it down, because she was making him look like the idiot he really is.

The media is just now falling out of love with her after she wrote and stared in her own Bosnia war movie. They didn't do their homework, actually they purposely went alone with her lie until the black comed y guy, Sinbabd busted them. The media is quite disappointed they have to report the truth now,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,especially since the truth is hillary needs surgical severance of nerve fibers connecting the frontal lobes to the thalamus for the relief of some mental disorders. Even now the media is drooling over her. They have not reported a lot of unfavorable facts about Clinton such as:

1) her taking money from a company that has been accused by federal govt. of sexual abuse of its female employees. She has refused to return the money.

2) Clinton-Hsu connection. Norman Hsu, her leading donor, is in jail on charges of fraud.

3) The media hammered on Obama's NAFTA-gate, but never clarified that it was Clinton's campaign that contacted the Canadian administrative secretary about her NAFTA assertions.

4) underreported the Texas caucus results that suggest that Obama has won the Texas prima-caucus election with more delegates than Clinton. Instead, the talking heads on MSM keep repeating the Clinton victory in Texas.

5) repeatedly declared the race a tie when it is mathematically impossible for Hillary to win.

Maybe, maybe not, Impeachthechimp... But they did choose the nominees way back last spring/summer, when they focused all of the debates on Hillary and Obama, and to a lesser extent, Edwards, to the almost TOTAL EXCLUSION of the more qualified candidates like Joe BIDEN and Chris Dodd, etc.

The media WANTED these two because they provide such easy story lines that wouldn't require very talented or intelligent personalities to cover them...And the DNC/Howard Dean (talk about losers!) was in love with the idea of making racial/gender history... Consedquently, the average American was virtually shielded from being aware of anyone besides HillBamWards, and those of us who WERE really paying attention had no recourse... It wasn't until recently that it occurred to me that the DNC had the power to put pressure on the media to be more even-handed, especially during the debates, but failed to do so... Add that to the Michigan/Florida fiascos and what we have is the Democratic party screwing up royally and jeopardizing their/our chances AGAIN...

Maybe we DO need a third party, and to distinguish it from the others it could be called the COMPETENT Party... no wait, the Repubics are actually pretty competent, they're just competent JERKS... Maybe it could be called the CITIZENS Party... Now THAT WOULD be a real CHANGE!

I think her campaign has realized the damage they were doing to themselves and has shifted tone recently. In Hillary's case she has to put a muzzle on Bill because he is doing her the most damage at this point.

I think that the Clintons are running a FULL out 2012 strategy.

For some time, being as bright as the Clintons are, they have done the math re: delegates, states won & popular vote and adding in John McCain's age, the Clintons are banking that he will only serve 1 term, WHEN not IF, elected.

IMO, that is why Bill Clinton continues to build up John McCain, not as some pundits have posited that it makes his wife look like an equal but because the Clintons know that they can assist John McCain's win by shredding both the Democratic Party (which is in the midst of a HUGE power struggle -the BIG State VS 50 State strategy) and also wounding Obama in the General by taking this all the way to the convention, leaving Obama as nominee without the optimal time to mount a vigorous campaign against McCain for the general election.

That way the Clintons get a DOUBLE win. Their faction regains complete control of the Democratic Party and by assisting McCain's win through all of their praise and faciliate Obama's loss, the Clintons clear their way for a victory in 2012.

So what IF it is lose/lose for the Democrats running for the MOST openings in Congress in years - those downticket from the White House race and also the loss of the WH in 2008?

James Carville stated, ANY disloyalty is seen as being a Judas to THEIR cause. The Clintons feel that THEY ARE the Democratic

Your fantasies are just that, fantasies. The is no 2012 strategy. She is totally focused upon THIS primary. There IS, however, a 2024 strategy.

I wonder if Obama has one.

Staying in the race until she finished what she started, WHICH IS TO DESTROY THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY, which under the Clinton's has become the Democratic Party branch of the Republican Party.

Your comment and the other below reminds me WHY hearsay is NOT admissible in a court of law.

I would RESPECT more of these types of comments IF you could DEVELOP and ELABORATE on the topic or opinion, at hand.

"Garbage" doesn't prove much except that you can type.

Or maybe the American people are tired of the manipulative bullshit, Republican and Democratic. All Democrats need to wake up and tell their party leaders that they have had enough of this DLC/Clinton negative strategy.

The problem with this strategy is that a large portion of the Hillary Supporters may not make it to 2012 with their age. This country will be torn apart if Hillary steals this race. I honestly can't even believe that Bill isn't trying to get her to quit. He will never be looked at the same way after this race and he's not even running.

GREAT points! I forgot that many of the older folks that presently support the Clintons may not be voting in another 8 years; whereas Obama has built the Party with the influx of younger voters.

I read an Op Ed piece that when voters start voting with 1 Party, they tend to vote that way for their lifetime - except, perhaps as a backlash to this current administration.

As far as the Clintons' legacies are concerned, IMO, they are almost 'tarnished' beyond repair, especially IF this 2012 Strategy CONTINUES to be PUSHED until after June 3rd.

Hillary simply cannot tell the truth. Here's her scorecard:

Admitted Lies Chelsea was jogging around the Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001 . (She was in bed watching it on TV.) . Hillary was named after Sir Edmund Hillary. ( He climbed Mt. Everest five years after her birth.) . She was under sniper fire in Bosnia .. She learned in The Wall Street Journal how to make a killing in the futures market. (It didn't cover the market back then.)

Whoppers She Won't Confess To She didn't know that her brothers were being paid to get pardons that Clinton granted. . Taking the White House gifts was a clerical error. . She didn't know that her staff would fire the travel office staff after she told them to do so. . She didn't know that the Peter Paul fundraiser in Hollywood in 2000 cost $700,000 more than she reported it had. . She opposed NAFTA at the time. . She was instrumental in the Irish peace process. . She urged Bill to intervene in Rwanda . . She played a role in the '90s economic recovery. . The billing records showed up on their own. . She thought Bill was innocent when the Monica scandal broke. . She was always a Yankees fan. . She had nothing to do with the New Square Hasidic pardons (after they voted for her 1,400-12 and she attended a meeting at the White House about the pardons). . She negotiated for the release

Hey you should read the Wapo's debunking today of Obama's tall tale about how the Kennedy family brought his father to the United States. What a whopper!
