Clinton Surrogate Ed Rendell Praises Fox News For "Most Objective," "Balanced" Coverage

Ed Rendell

Great catch from Michael Calderone at the Politico:

Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, a strong supporter and prominent surrogate of the Hillary Clinton campaign, appeared on Fox News' morning show "Fox & Friends" today and praised the network for its "objective" and "balanced" coverage.

"I think during this entire primary coverage, starting in Iowa and up to the present, Fox has done the fairest job, has remained the most objective of all the cable networks," Rendell told host Steve Doocy. "You actually have done a very balanced job of reporting the news, and some of the other stations are just caught up with Senator Obama, who is a great guy, but Senator Obama can do no wrong, and Senator Clinton can do no right."

Doocy told Rendell, "I just had a tingling in my leg when you were talking about that," a reference to MSNBC host Chris Matthews, who has been criticized for unfairly treating Hillary Clinton and who once announced on air that he felt a "thrill going up his leg" during an Obama speech.

Watch:

Recently, "Fox & Friends" was the center of mayhem at the network, when an anchor walked off set over a dispute about Obama's comments on race and "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace railed against the network for what he called "two hours of Obama-bashing." "Fox & Friends" hosts later claimed the walk-off stunt was a joke, and Wallace admitted that he regretted speaking out against his network.

What is going on with the governors in the metropolitan area? For a moment I thought that Ed Rendell might restore some sense of credibility to the office of governors in this area in the aftermath all that has been going on, however his comments about Fox news being' balanced and fair ' unfortunately just reinforced my fears that some sort of insanity seems to be prevalent in that high office.

I grew up in Philadelphia. One of my college friends was Rendell's deputy press secretary while he served as mayor. I knew him as a charismatic and intelligent Mayor...He saw Philly thru some tuff times and helped to heal and rebuild after the Goode Fiasco. Who is THIS guy? What does he owe the Clintons? Lately, he comes off as a lowly lackey. A goon. A Made Man. Suddenly the former Mayor of Philadelphia is praising Fox like a good Republican? Yo Eddie, you're dead to me!

YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. HRC AND BILL HAVE 936 FBI FILES FROM THEIR TIME IN THE WHITE HOUSE. YOU DON'T THINK THEY ONLY HAD THE FILES ON THE GOP. WHY WOULD RENDELL ACT LIKE THIS NOW?

Keith Olbermann was actually being PRO Clinton when he chastised Rendell for saying that nonsene. He listed all the bad things that Fox said about Clinton. I bet the governor feels like a first class fool after hearing all the bad stuff they say about Hilary what part of that is objective.

I maintain people have NO CLUE what objective reporting means they just throw it around as some vague concept to mean that theya re not criticizing a candidate. If the canddiate isnt doing anything substantive that is worthy of criticism are they suppose to make it up fabricate it. They are good news and bad news and people make a choice whats substantive that means there is NO such thing as objective reporting.Unless a robot is writing the news it has to bias to a certain degree.

Keith Olbermann is the best thing going. No one criticizes the Bush administration and their attack on Civil liberties like he does. Thats what the media is suppose to do be the 4th Branch of government to give the American people the truth about their govermnent. People like Lou Dobbs and Joe Scarborough are joke in that department.

McCain says he didnt expect the Shia/Shia violence evne though there was tensions to the contrary. Obama response he is not suprise by it because it fits in with his analysis.

Thank goodness for Keith or the doddering McCain would be getting a free ride.

Carol

Oh wow, now there's news. Keith Olbermann found a new list of bad things to say about Clinton--and got to blame it on Fox.!Talk about a "tingling feeling"!

I haven't watched Fox's coverage but no one could be more biased than MSNBC.

I too, am doing what I thought I would never have to resort to - preferring Fox News because if they are going to bash the Democrats, at least they do it equally

Billary must have promised Ed Rendell a job. And talking about being a Judas, the only reason he was elected was due to the votes of blacks in Philadelphia. All those wonderful, god-fearing people in the middle of the state don't take kindly to Jews (like Rendell) or blacks.

I agree, I used to like him, anyone who has a "serious" interview with Doocy, or whatever that flakes name is has to be delusional. Maybe Fox has offered him a job.

I am amazed at the fact that no white PA has tried to refuse Ed Rendell comments about white will not vote for blacks in PA. So it must be true. PA whites have had this reputation for years for being racist. I hope minorities in the state will make a better choice in choosing your governor in PA during the next election.

Oops, another hate target for the Obama supporters here. Ed Rendell, right along with John Edwards.

The heads will be exploding on this blog.

How fun.

Forgive me if someone pointed this out already, but it is pretty ironic that Lou had to censor himself in the middle of a rant about the censcorship of our discourse of race. Was this intentional?

I never thought I would think that Fox News was actually giving some fair and balanced coverage, ever. But during this primary season, they have actually been fair to Hillary as well as Obama. I think it is because they can't stand either one. They have bashed each equally, and at least put both sides on their show.

This is shocking to me, but I was a big MSNBC viewer, until they started with Obama ass kissing fest and the Hillary bashing everyday and everynight.

Sorry, Ed Rendell is right. And the scary thing is that Fox News has been actually credible than MSNBC News, during this primary season.

What is this country coming to!

Anyone in PA calling themselves a Democrat will know whom to vote for.

Hint: It WON'T be the candidate Mr. Suck-Up Rendell is endorsing.

Oh right, anyone calls themselves a Democrat can only be an Obama supporter.

Hint: The candidate winning Penn, won't be Obama.
