AP writes about McCain's biography tour:

Republican Sen. John McCain opened a new chapter in his presidential campaign on Monday, casting himself as an "imperfect servant of my country," descended from a family of U.S. warriors devoted to honor, courage and duty.

In remarks both personal and philosophical, McCain recalled ancestors buried at Arlington National Cemetery, and mused about "the honor we earn and the love we give when we work and sacrifice with others for a cause greater than our self-interest."

Bloomberg says the tour will "underscore how war dominates his world view":

John McCain's weeklong "biography tour" to showcase his half-century of public service will underscore how war dominates his world view.

"McCain's record of noble service is almost a singular asset in his campaign," said David Gergen, a professor of public service at Harvard University who advised four presidents. "The question is whether he can convince people that he will not only keep us safe but also be cautious in using military power."

McCain/Voter Fraud 08!!!

Regardless of who JW McBomb's VP will be, and it will probably be Mitt Romney,

David Addington will be opening their mail and approving their policy speeches.

We can be sure that the long arm of GHWB's consigliare (AKA Darth) will still be

pulling the strings, calling the shots and talking to the Likudists & Saudi Royals.

Another demented, pathetic sad sack. Presented buy the GOP as being worthy of the US presidency!Sweet mother of Mary! Must the movers and shakers of the GOP, continue to profer such discards of humanity such as Bush, and now McCain? Perhaps they find these types of psycho's easier to meld into ultimate GOP party puppets.
Come together Democrats! Don't let this idiot become the next destructive President. Should he win the Presidency, it will mean the true finish of this country, and China will call in it's markers from the Massive loans they have given to the Bush regime !

Tripping up McCain on the Iraq war in the presidential debates is going to be a walk in the park - Obama's only challenge will be to not openly laugh in face (or sigh heavily).

It's common knowledge and I'm sure it will be brought up big time during the general run up!

just reading these sad comments is enough for me to know that obama stands no chance. why else would the sad leftists attack a war hero whos family has served our country so bravely. this is why the left always finds a way to lose, and with anti-american poster boy obama, your defeat is sealed.

Had we Obama supporters come here and praised McCain, your moniker is all we need to see to know that you'd find something else to slam the next POTUS about.

why would i slam mccain? obama is not going to win, so you should prepare yourself for that so you're not too dissappointed.

Let's see...a man becomes a military pilot and bombs innocent women and children in yet another of America's unfounded wars. He gets shot down and serves time in a POW camp, caving in to his dire situation by denouncing America. How, pray tell, does this qualify McCain as being a "war hero?" How curious that you right wing loons utilize the term "hero" so loosely, to fit your needs. Most of the heros didn't make it back from Viet Nam.

Now, we see the Republican swiftboating smear machine getting cranked up, with the "anti-American" Obama accusations. How predictable. The Repubs have got absolutely nothing else to run on, with their war-mongering candidate who supports Bush's disastrous Iraq fiasco and who admits that he doesn't have a clue how to deal with our failing economy. I think that the American people, who are suffering from real problems and who are tired of waging an unnecessary war of aggression, will see beyond this pathetic tactic.

Oh! Baloney! My family has also served our country bravely in every war this country has fought but they did so out of necessity not choice. Do I deserve special respect?

There is nothing Anti-American about wanting peace, nor is it a right or left thing..it'a a sane thing! You Know! I am really sorry you are hope-less because I am filled with it!

There's a time I might have thought of McCain not as even a lesser evil but possibly an actual possibility for my vote. Doubtless a McCain 2000 presidency would not have led to a disaster as bad as we are in now, even if he had still taken PNAC advice and attacked Iraq. But McCain 2008 seems like a different guy, plus we are starting out in a valley.

He scares me, although I can hope for (and I hate saying this) a complete old-man breakdown on his part that will lay bare his exhausted philosophy.

All the more reason why Democrats need to get a backbone and forcefully argue for a real alternative to the forever war.

It is clear from the picture that the chopper is already on the ground and motionless. What is the big deal with his apparent squeamishness?

McCain is "descended from a family of U.S. warriors." Sounds like a confirmation that diplomatic skill is not a strong gene that runs in his family. As General/President Eisenhower said, "I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it." Warrior McCain would not be the person to "get out of the way" and let the world and our nation find a way to peace.

John Sidney McCain III and his twenty (20) hours of combat experience??? For which he received 28 medals?? Geeze, sometimes its good to be the son and grandson of Admirals.

As for "noble service" according to Mr. Gergen, was it "noble" of McCain to use his full-paid scholarship to Annapolis as toilet paper by drinking, whoring and generally screwing around to the extent that he graduated 894 out of 899 in his class??

Or his woeful record as a pilot, barely passing flight school, crashing the first time he tried landing, violating regs and flying too low, hitting power lines and crashing (#2) or jumping in a plane and flying to the Army-Navy game in Philadelphia and crashing that plane (#3). His Air Force buddies from Nam call McCain "Ace" not because he shot down 5 enemy planes, but because he LOST five (5) of OUR planes ... including three before he ever saw one minute of combat.

Was the Keating 5 scandal "noble service", too??

Another "bush pilot"? Well at least he was in country and not flying combat missions over Texas....But getting captured is not really the way to win a war. All he learned from that experience seems to be that the enemy is evil and you should never give in to them. Not really what I'm looking for this time around.

The man is downright Certifiable.

Either he is a Senile old man who is not responsible for what he says, or he is the worst warmonger this country has ever had running for the white house since G. W. Bush.

Bomb, Bomb Iran, indeed shows his maniacal tendencies.

All those people killed in Vietnam...all for absolutely NOTHING.
All it did was make defense contractors rich on tax money..just like now.
That war did no good at all. It ruined lives there and here.
HE is a fool for fools.
All the innocent children, the agent orange defects and mental problems, the land mines and horror for nothing. It was a disgrace, There is NO honor in what he did it at all. He lived a good life until he got shot down. He never saw the consequences of his bombs and could care less about the suffering he caused.

"All those people killed in Vietnam...all for absolutely NOTHING.

As you said, escobar, it was - and IS - a disgrace. American citizens were far more informed about Vietnam than they are about Iraq because we actually had a media during the Vietnam period that believed it was their duty and obligation to inform the American public. However, then - as now - citizen protest fell upon the deaf ears of this nation's "leadership." Defense contractors are controlling this nation and absorbing all of our nation's resources...and are then free to take the money and run to Dubai.
