Lara Flynn Boyle's Face Prompts Alarm

Lara Flynn Boyle is widely believed to have turned to plastic surgery in her quest to remain youthful in recent years, but as the star arrived at Mr. Chow restaurant in Beverly Hills yesterday, she looked anything but fresh faced.

The 38-year-old's bloated face, drooping jowls and bursting trout pout rendered her almost unrecognisable from the actress who first shot to fame in director David Lynch's cult television series Twin Peaks.

Her famously fragile, childlike frame, which was left swimming in a beige pant suit, only added to her worrying appearance.

Lara, who formerly starred in popular US series The Practice and chalked up big screen credits including Men In Black 2, has struggled to keep her career as buoyant in recent times.

That looks more like adema not a - which could be due to medication, a kidney problem or nutritional deficiencies such as protein malnutrition which results in fluids being drained into the tissues from the circulatory system.

Maybe her face is this puffy because she is being treated with steroids for some medical problem. I can't imagine someone like her needing plastic surgery so drastic that it would leave her in such a state. This woman is not even forty yet!

So my guess is that she got this face because of some medical treatment. But Hollywood folks can always surprise. If she actually got such aggressive plastic surgery, she is insane given her age and looks. Perhaps they are modeling themselves after box office success plastic lady Nicole Kidman, thinking they should do everything she does to be a success like her. But maybe they should reconsider, since Kidman has been scoring flop after flop during the last few years.

I have lived in a family chock full of alcoholics.

That is not plastic surgery gone bad. She's ony 38. AND she is anorexic.

I thik she's drinking ALOT. THat is how you get all swollen and puffy. I also suspect that's why we didn't see her waist in that suit---she might have a distended abdomen.

THAT is what is sad about celebrity culture. The anxiety must be uncontrollable all of the time.

Gee, you sure know the inside scoop on all things Lara, don't you? This looks to me like she's had temporary filler injections, not plastic surgery. There's a difference, which you would know had you bothered to look into it. Injections would cause swelling for a week or two. Her only mistake was going out in public where she's fair game for stories like this.
What makes you say she's anorexic or an alcoholic? Got proof? Lara's always been tiny. There ARE naturally thin people in the world, ya know, who actually eat well and are healthy. We all start losing collagen in our 20s and for those with genetically thin faces, it can cause a sunken-in, sickly appearance. In her business, that's career suicide. Especially since it would flame the finger-wagging anorexia gossip.
Sad. So many judgmental people with too much time on their hands and probably too much weight on their own jowls.

Choose to accept the idea or don't. No need to get all bent out of shape. The fact is, this woman looks like an alcoholic.

Only somebody with a complete lack of self perception could do this to herself. Lara looked gorgeous on Twin Peaks, not just because she was young then, but because she had a truly cute face. No more.

What is it with all the celebrity melting faces? Are they all going to Jacko's surgeon? You used to see face-lifts that were obvious but not some horrible mutation. Cher, Dolly and even Joan Rivers are old school celebs who've done a nice balance of stretch and snip. On the other hand Joan Van Ark's slasher attack was freakishly alarming and Lara looks like she's been sparing with Tyson.

If your mom can't pick you out of a lineup and children recoil in horror, you've had too much surgery.

Maybe we should all be like Keith Richards and wear our leathery age with pride. Man can you imagine Richards with a face lift? There'd be enough hide left over to upholster a Limo.

Bell's Palsy is my thought too. That's a temporary condition, fortunately. One of the actors on tv's "Angel" experienced that just as the season was about to resume, and so they shot him from one side or with one side in shadow until he recovered.
