Nintendo's plan to bulk up the appeal of its Wii video-game system among consumers who normally would dismiss it as kid's stuff is poised to get a major boost later this spring with its highly anticipated exercise game, Wii Fit.

Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter is predicting the game - more of a virtual personal trainer than a traditional shoot 'em up or sports fantasy - could be one of the industry's biggest blockbusters of 2008.

"Wii Fit will sell 3 million to 4 million in the US if they market aggressively," he told The Post.

You know this is starting to piss me off. I know a dozen families that would like to get their hands on a Wii but the damn things are never in stock. For Sony to keep pushing new products before they solve the basic production issue is really really annoying. I have a nephew who's in physical therapy for a chronic joint condition who could really benefit from the Wii-mote and we've been trying to corner one since last October.

Another gotta have it, toy. Try eating it when the price of food doubles this year.

Why oh why does Nintendo need to stimulate more sales of the Wii? They are selling as many as they release, stores can't stock them, and there is this off-putting grey market with large markups.

Instead of developing new software, they need to build more consoles. Then they will sell more of them and can backfill the software.

i honestly don't think they expected to sell as many as they did.. they were backed up well before the release date on the wii, with very few games releases. it's been a massive hit.

unfortunately i sold mine.. :-( i miss it. get one if you can!

I have long since given up, whatever is going on with the marketing of this thing is hincky, to say the least.
I am not going on ebay to buy a bootleg one for a 200 dollar markup, and I see signs up around here from people that have an inventory. Could they all be lost off a truck?
I have not made it my mission in life to buy one, but every so often call around to see if any reputable retailers have them in, and all I hear is "we don't take names, you really have to be here the day the truck comes".

I'd normailly agree with you all, but I have a Wii now and I love it. It was totally worth the wait!!!

I agree Jen. We lucked up the on Black Friday just hanging at the mall and the Game Stop guy was giving out "golden tickets" for the Wiis that he had in stock. We were next in line to get one. WELL worth it! I have WiiFit reserved at the same store. Can't wait to get that either!

We finally bit the bullet and bought one on Ebay for a 50 dollar premium.

It was well worth it.

I agree, my son wanted one badly for a year, but they were always sold out, then he finally gave up and got whatever it is that sony is putting out now and they can take their wii's and stick them.

That is if we get them to buy. Nintendo's hid and seek game with Wii has made me lose my desire to own one. Just not worth the effort anymore.
